I know there a happy medium somewhere in there.

So hit 5 to 7 more pass plays and this solves everything.

And eliminate the stupid stuff like sliding for a sack.  That ball should have been thrown away.

I would like 2-3 more outside zone or sweeps with Gainwell.  Nice way to spell Saquon and he is getting nice dividends per run.

--

Otherwise, I am fine with 65% runs with this line and this generational RB.

Look at those plays and tell me that pass protection was not a problem.  I get that they have been good but not without issues.  And those issues kill drives.

Hurts has dropped back to pass 325 times. Him getting sacked on two blitzes doesn't indicate that the offensive line's blocking is an issue.

Again, he has more time to throw than 99% of the league. The blocking is not an issue.

You are 1000000% wrong in this

Maybe this has already addressed but what about the D against the run? I was screaming at the screen over this, not the O. "Get off the field!" Maybe Fangio played more of a bend-don't break scheme because of the opponent but the D let Carolina turn into the Eagles. Run effectiveness and ball control. They limited the Eagles touches because of time consuming sustained drives. IMHO this is a bigger issue than getting the O to open up and pass more. The team has been dominant because you can't run against them, ala Ravens. Was it the "don't let them get a big play and we will win" defense?

Alright. Keep telling yourself that.  If you think it acceptable to allow free rushers to the QB on critical downs, then I don't know what to tell you.

So they block great 90% but if the 10% they don't leads to big losses and kills drives, it can't be better??  All I'm saying is that they need to work to eliminate those issues. I guarantee 100000% that Stoutland sees it as an issue that needs to be improved.

I knew AJ and Smith were going to sound off after this game.. they have been great about keeping it in this year but yesterday you could see their frustration boiling over..they were open early and often and Jalen wasn't letting go of the ball. Jalen's excuse for dropping to the ground was weak as hell also.. I'm telling you, you could put Jalen on 20 other teams and he wouldn't be a top 20 QB.

Yo but he had a 110.8 QB rating which means he was excellent yesterday becuz STATZ!!!

Why not a jet sweep or two with AJ Brown, similar to what the Rams do with Nacua?  Just give the defense something else to worry about, and offer Brown a chance to get some action without needing to throw him the ball?

Is the Chiefs kicker worth adding to the PS after the Chiefs cut him in a few weeks?

Calling Dan Orlovsky and Chase Daniel mediocre white QB's isn't racism, it's factual, and chuckle worthy. We call our DBs the exciting whites. In all seriousness, what are you getting your panties twisted over here?

Understood. So I can say, Jalen Hurts, the mediocre black qb going forwards? Sounds good.

The first sack was on 2nd and 2 and the second was on 1st and 10 in the first quarter. What about either of those is "critical"? The first one looks to me as more of Barkley not picking up the blitzer and not the offensive line at all. Are we going to start saying he needs to be better, too?

I know this might be difficult to understand, but the other teams are also working hard to scheme/make plays. They're going to make them.

You're asking for perfection and it's asinine. They're perfectly fine.

My guy in the draft

Sorry, it is a field day for former garbage backup QBs who stole money and can't play. Better?

Being serious I'd take former garbage white QB Sam Darnold and his 347 yards and 5 TDs right now over Hurts

That's true.  Maybe he's trying to make his defender go with him to keep him out of the play.

But that's a good question.

I wonder how much of the so called miscommunication and confusion in the passing game is from Moorehead.  He sucks as a WR coach.

Think you may be blaming the wrong coach.  Might be Patullo.

Well, if it was Barkley assignment of course he needs to be better. And I am not just talking about the OL but everybody in pass pro.

Every down is a critical down in a drive.  8-10 yard sacks from free rushers are drive killers.

Again, I guarantee that Stoutland sees it as something that can be improved. Believe they are fine and I'll believe they can be better because they can.

There's no good reason Hurts is tied for 6th most sacked QB this year with a top 3 ranked o-line.

Yes - but this can also be due to the OC and playcalls.

There are plenty of counters to this logic though. Hurts was here since 2020. They got 3 years to study him in multiple offensive schemes before they signed him to that deal. Under Doug and Sirianni and then Steichen/Sirianni. If they truly believed as an organization he was that limited, why would they pay him that mega contract? They clearly didn't believe that when they signed him.

I really don't think football works that way where you go ok, this guy was here and this guy wasn't, therefore it has to be that guy who's the problem. There are so many other factors. And this doesn't explain why the passing offense was really good in 2022.

Maybe Hurts isn't a great passing QB and Kellen Moore is doing a poor job on the offensive side of the ball? Their passing offense was better last season by every metric. It's gotten worse 2 years in a row and they have 3 different coordinators. So from that perspective, there isn't one constant. Maybe the coordinators have something to do with it after all. Or maybe it has nothing to do with Moore and Sirianni still has a lot of influence. Or maybe it's some combination of those factors. I'm not even the biggest Hurts fan, but putting this 100% on him is something I find totally unfair.

I don't think you can allocate the blame but I think some of the difference has to be Hurts.

Good choice. I took it as him joking about Exciting Whites vs Mediocre Whites. I'm white. @vikas83 is brown. Try not to take everything so seriously.

I don’t take everything seriously. I’m tired of people telling me I don’t like Hurts because he is black. It’s obvious this guys feels that way.

33 minutes ago, Iggles_Phan said:

Yes.   They aren't criticizing him because he's black and they are white.  They are criticizing him because there's fodder there to be criticized and that's their job.  They have to fill the air time with some kind of content.  And when discussing the Eagles offense yesterday, their all-world RB set the franchise record for single season rushing yards, ran for 124 yards, meanwhile the QB threw for 108.   That's worth talking about.  Even the players on the team are talking about it.  We don't know what they are saying amongst themselves, but we know what they are saying publicly, and they are not happy with the results in the passing game.

There are reasons why and they should be open for discussion without race being a chief element in the conversation.  Is it scheme, is it cohesion, is it QB failures, is it OL breakdowns?   Lots of options, but the one we know it isn't is talent.  This offense has plenty of talent to be performing at a much higher level in the passing game, and they aren't.    And let's remember, the Ravens have a great run defense team and a mediocre to bad pass defense squad... BUT, this offense was able to pretty much impose their will on them in the running game, but the passing game was anemic.  Yesterday, they struggled mightily passing against the Panthers who are very much in the middle of the pack.  That's not what this team was built to be.  The salaries indicate that.  So, let the talking heads talk without race being an issue.  It really isn't.  The issue is the problems in the passing game.

It was a joke about Orlovsky hyping up Stafford, who we just shut down. Wasn't about Hurts. I do find Orlovsky's love affair with Stafford, Cousins, etc. to be tiresome. Really wasn't about Hurts at all if you look at the post.

The criticisms of Hurts play the last 2 weeks are justified.

I think there was one sack from inside pressure due to a miscommunication between Jurgens and Becton.  It wasn't a free rusher but the pressure was quick.  It's more often that Hurts is taking sacks because he over reacts to pressure or doesn't throw away the ball.
