I was looking for ways to get Brown more involved and give him a chance to do what he does best... RUN after catch.  It would give him involvement, it would give Barkley a bit of a break, and if they use Barkley on the field at the same time, keeps the defense focused on him while Brown goes in motion to get the ball moving full speed.   And, best of all, it wouldn't require a whole lot of extra effort to be able to implement it immediately.  Hurts wouldn't have to get his head screwed on right for it to be effective.   Smith and Brown start on the same side of field, Barkley in the backfield, and Brown goes into motion to Johnny Wilson's side.  He's practically a TE anyway.  The OL can block away from the run action to draw the LBs that way and let Brown make one guy miss, and he's off to the races.

Just a thought on an easy thing to do to get the ball into Brown's hands... and EARLY in the game to get involved and stay in it mentally.  Take some pressure off Barkley's body.  I don't know.  It seems a pretty easy wrinkle.    Then you can run that motion, and then give it to Barkley running the opposite way off tackle.   Then you can do it again, go play action to Barkley, and then look to throw it over to Brown in the flat with a head of steam.   3 plays, one formation and motion.  And, I think it could actually be quite effective without rewriting everything.

Got it. We could also throw AJ and wide receiver screen every once in a while. We seem to only throw them to DeVonta.

Honestly, it feels like the coaches need to just hammer into Jalen that he has to let it rip. You can see he is looking at AJ or Smitty, sees them open, and doesn't pull the trigger. He was taking shots a few weeks back (NYG, CIN, JAX), but it's like he is seeing ghosts out there now. As for getting AJ going, I still think the PA slants to him are basically unstoppable. Jalen has to make the throws.

Id agree with that if it was as a lead blocker, but if he just followed the play and gave Barkley a push from behind from the 1 yard line thats not too dangerous. Would have been nice to see a team play from him.

I still don't want it.  I really would prefer they not use him as much as they do running the ball by design, or even as frequently as they Tush Push.   Basically, I don't like the idea of my QB being involved in a scrum.   Too many bad things can happen in there, especially to the hands and/or fingers, and more importantly with someone not used to blocking/pushing others.   When he's running the Tush Push, he's at least keeping his hands and fingers in tight and close to his body so that they can't get bent backwards or sideways easily while he's clutching the ball.  But, in a scrum... all bets are off.  And he'd have even less protections than when he's the ball carrier.

I dont watch the talking heads much but I'll say it again... Stafford > Goff/Love/Cousins/Hurts

And I'm far from being a Hurts hater, I just think Stafford is a really good QB. Of course it helps to have guys like Coop and Puka to throw to, but when healthy, he's got all the tools you want in a QB. I think Herbert can get there too, but might need a better environment to develop in. For Stafford, that meant getting out of Detroit and into a McVay offense. Likewise, I think Herbert in an offense like in Miami or SF would put up some wild ass numbers.

He is and Herbert needs to get out of SD. His predecessor wasted away there as well.

You are so eager to put the laughing emjois you used one when I defended Hurts decision to not throw to AJ Brown in the end zone. Your opinions are completely worthless.

Well you say a lot of funny things. Take it as a compliment. I don't really care what you think of my opinions. I promise you I care less about yours. Just thought I'd point out your dumb takes once in a while just so you are aware! You're welcome.

I don't remember who it was recently but some other team did that and I'm just asking why?

I take it you're not very familiar with the state of california.

To be fair, most people in LA don't realize the Chargers play here either.

They are, but he doesn't.   The flanker jet sweep eliminates that decision from him.  Just make it a straight give call.  Or, run it after showing them that eye candy on a Barkley run off-tackle to see how the edge responds to it.  THEN hit them with that.   I'd be happier with a few less reads from Hurts where him keeping the ball is an option for a run.  Those are working less frequently, so we need to go to that well less frequently.

Imagine if your QB getting injured on such a play wouldnt actually be a detriment to the offense...

I feel pretty confident that the coaches didn't draw it up that way, but its a case of a guy getting juiced up in the moment.

I'm still not sure about Jim Harbaugh as a head coach there, but at least the Chargers are making some small strides now.  They've had to do some salary cap clean up and move on from Allen and Williams; hopefully Quentin Johnston develops and they keep building around Herbert with young talent.

All this assumes Harbaugh won't bench him for another Kaep.

@vikas83 Apologies friend. I have spoken to some others who say you are a good dude. Sorry for the insults.

I know most people are transplants anyway, but whats the split between Rams and Chargers fans?

How about Josh Allen following the play when he got the backward lateral resulting in the TD. Good things can come from a QB following the play. He can then choose to get involved, or not but at least being there to help if the opportunity arises. It would have been really easy for him to help Barkley in on that particular play.

Anyone else find it weird the common parallel strategy to help this franchise win is by asking the HC to do less and now asking the QB to also do less? HC and QB should be two massive edges that help you win in the league. Eagles are winning unconventionally by sum of the other parts.

It's a team game, yes, and always will be. But having to intentionally pull back on two things that should be an advantage makes me question if they can win it all.

In other news, the Cardinals no longer play in Chicago either.

Yes but we're then told we're Hurts haters

There aren't many fans of either team, but the ones that do exist are almost all Rams fans from before they left. I don't know a single Chargers fan out here. Seriously.

The Eagles game this year was ~65% Eagles fans. The one against the Chargers in 2017 was ~90%.
