They can pre-record something but that won't put out the flames.  Putting them in front of a live press corps is a HUGE gamble given that neither has shown any ability to handle the tricky situations very well in public and right now the press idiots smell blood in the water.

I think it may be a risk they need to take? I guess it really works depends how much they feel outside noise impacts them? They can say it doesn’t and that may be true but it could also just be what they have to say. Some people would be affected by outside noise. They need to do something to quieten the noise because Sunday had 2022 vibes for a number of reasons.

Problem is the cat is out of the bag and this feels like a way to try and calm the noise. They have to do it but it may be too late. What they need is AJ and Jalen to speak out together and then to get on the same page Sunday. If AJ has a big day and Jalen looks a lot better then a lot of this will quieten (for now).

It's possible that it's not that big a deal, just frustration in the passing game (Hurts, play calling, a WR who wants touches) and immediately after a game their emotions are high. BG thought he was helping by inserting himself and interpreting to avoid media issues, but he made it worse. When I heard him say "they were friends before" I took that context to mean they've been friends a long time before AJ joined the team so they will sort this out. But who knows?

This is why teams should keep everything in house and not make statements in the media.

The funny thing is Hurts seems to be at the core of a lot of the discontent. Remember the report at the end of last season. The Eagles brass disappointed in Hurts and his leadership. Hurts and Nick Sirianni not getting along. AJ and Hurts not getting along. I think a lot of people will blame Brown for this drama because he’s the WR so he’s naturally going to be painted as the troublemaker because of the diva label, but Hurts seems to be at the center of a lot of dysfunction.

And I don’t necessarily think Hurts is some bad locker room guy, but he may just not be a good leader and may not know how to mend fences.

Literally, I brought this up yesterday when this all came out. There’s far too many stories coming out surrounding hurts. Just like with wentz after the Super Bowl run. Was internal concerns from within the organization, him and Nick Sirianni having problems (quotes he gave during the offseason and things leaked out) and now him and AJ Brown having problems. It’s why I said I don’t think you can make a conclusion this is 100% just AJ Brown causing all of it. Cause we don’t have the entirety of the story. Just what BG said and he stated during his interview he didn’t have the whole story. And I don’t think it’s 100% on hurts either. I don’t think it’s 100% just one of them.

Man, if anyone here is newish and never saw these, they were gold. @DrPhilly thanks for reminding me of this! Joe Banner in a Mr. Burns role is classic as is fat AR.

Yeah, they were great.  The weekly flash intros were pretty fun back then as well.

This is what happens when you have a large media contingent. They have to write stories.

And there was also a story about Cox not being the biggest fan of Hurts.

I don't think Hurts is a bad guy or someone who starts beefs. I think what's most likely happening is Hurts is just an introvert who keeps to himself and doesn't bond with his teammates enough and probably doesn't confront issues as they occur.

No doubt something being considered.

I can buy that some players don't like Hurts style of leadership. You have all different personalities and styles and not everyone is going to be best friends. The reports about Hurts leadership weren't that he's a bad leader or that players don't like him, it was that he was too stoic and not vocal enough. They wanted him to say more. If you don't like him, you don't say you want to hear more from him. There have also been players to support Hurts and say he's a good leader.

Early this season fans were on the fire Siri bandwagon (including me). We've seen Siri as a problem, as immature and having outbursts. Hurts even had to hold him back from getting a penalty in the SB. So if he and Hurts aren't getting along and there's a problem, it could be both of them contributing. AJ and Hurts could be like siblings who fight and then move on.

False. Cox said he wanted Hurts to be more vocal. I remember at the time, Cox was on a podcast of another player and said all these great things about Hurts.

I love fans like you that completely just wanna blame everything on the media. The Eagles organizationally did not have to leak that information that there was internal concerns. Reporters are not making up things. They get things sold to them by someone usually a source inside the eagles. McLane is a dbag and deserves to get crap for that. But he was spot on with the wentz stuff and even Doug stuff heading into 2020. So we should ignore stuff because we don’t like hearing it? Or he shouldn’t report it cause fans are too fragile to hear it?

we can say they have to write stories, but Graham essentially just wrote this story because he couldn’t shut his mouth. Which goes back to what I’ve been saying for years now that organization since the end of Andy’s tenure has people putting things out there that they want out there and leaking things.

I’m afraid BG opened this one too wide for it just to fade away. You’d like to have AJ and Hurts address the media together and put it to bed but neither is capable of delivering a good "incident over” message in a live presser.

At this point, I think its last year stuff bubbling up again.  So, it never got properly dealt with then, so maybe they can actually do it now.

I really don't see this as a big deal.  This is part of where the head coach earns his money.  Two short meetings need to take place -- very short.

First one is with Brandon Graham; tell him to find something more useful to talk about on his podcast or put the podcast in the trash bin during the season.

Second one is with AJ Brown, Smith and Hurts; you're supposed to be buddies -- shake hands, hug, get together and sort out your differences.  Let your play on the field match your friendship.  The aerial offense runs through those 3; they need to be in cohesion.

Put up 28+ points against PIT and the story is in the rear view.

McLane is a great example of a reporter who has lied. Just ask Fletcher Cox.

The real issue is oxygen. It's not that things are true/untrue, but the larger the media corps, the louder it gets.

We've heard all about the drama with the Jets/Bears this year, but none about the Titans/Raiders. It's not a coincidence. (Antonio Pierce is a goner btw).

I think inside a locker room, you’re not gonna have all the guys like each other. You don’t have to like everybody, but you have to work together and be professional about it. Which AJ Brown needs to be better at not going to the media to air out his grievances. Then again we don’t know the whole story cause he might been doing this for weeks behind the scenes trying to get through to the coaches and Jalen but it hasn’t worked so he felt this was his last resort. Which frankly he still shouldn’t have done. That’s why I said last night I can 100% put everything on him because I don’t have the whole story and all the facts to do it. Which I’m guessing with the Eagles at some point it’s all gonna be leaked out because that tends to happen.

I’ve said this for years now, the Eagles organization leaks out and put way too many things out there that they shouldn’t. The media gets the bent for it because they know fans are going to go after the media rather than going after their favorite team.

We also don't know for sure if the receivers aren't also frustrated with the coaching. Hurts has said since the offseason in many interviews that he's doing what he's asked to do. It's possible that the coaches overcorrected trying to avoid turnovers. Someone yesterday said Siri is really focused on winning the turnover battle.

Someone also noted that Siri has overcorrected his mistakes by not being aggressive enough. He was too risky with going for it in 4th down earlier in the year and has dialed it back and tried to take the points. Hurts had a bunch of turnovers, perhaps the coaches in addition to running more and taking the ball out of his hands have coached him to not be as risky with his throws. Plus, what we all see is Hurts being more hesitant. He may be taking their coaching to be more careful and going too far with it. Maybe he's in his head too much and lost confidence. Because despite the turnovers last year, his passing stats were about the same as 2022. He threw more earlier in the year and had a game of 311 passing yards...without AJ Smith. Goedert had his big game plus Smitty had 79 yards.

Hurts is definitely a problem, and a 5th year player should be more confident and be able to execute the offense. The coaches need to figure out how to fix this. There really are no excuses left for Hurts, going into this year they've had a completely stacked offense that should be the top offense in the league.

Imagine we had lost a game in the last 9 games 😂😂😂😂

And yet he was 100% accurate about Carson Wentz and Doug situation. So you wanna say cox called him a liar? No he call him a clown. Let me just point out Fletcher cox ain’t exactly the best human being  based of his past discretions. Love him as an eagle but he’s not exactly the most standup human being

again, you like to think the Eagles organization doesn’t put things out there that they want out there. You wanna know why they’re comfortable giving stories to Jeff McLane, because fans will attack McLane rather than be upset at the person leaking it to mclane cause they love their hometown team.

let me say this I hate ESP. I think he is a Skip jr. But I guarantee you he didn’t just makeup the desean Jackson gang story on his own. You think he was just digging around for that for two years just to find that piece of info? No, someone within the eagles said something to him cause they had an agenda. it was probably Chip Kelly as the person who told him it and said fine go with it because it made it easier to just move on from desean. Which is what he wanted to do.

You're 100% free to act like you're in a sewing circle and overdramatize a football team if you want.

This has nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing and God knows some people have to post about Hurts being garage at least 5 times per day to feel normal

I don't care where and how many time Hurts parks his car per day.  I care about him being able to effectively pass the football to his playmakers.

The other meeting needs to be with Siri, Moore, Nussmeier and Hurts. They need Hurts to get his head out of his ass. He's not turning the ball over, great but now he's overcorrected to being scared to take risks and even hesitant in his running game at times. They need to burn some sage, throw some motivational quotes at him, have Big Dom and Stoutland yell at him, whatever it takes. This offense is built to win and the QB is broken and the problem. I generally like Hurts and he's shown he's capable of more in the past, even in some games this season. But everything else on offense is elite and his recent play has been bad. That won't be enough in the playoffs. Maybe not even this Sunday. He needs to step up big time.

Also not sure if this is allowed but if I were Siri I'd tell the players do not go on any media or podcasts outside of what is required, and for them to not give the media anything. Give the most boring, short answers and move on. Focus on practice, film study, preparation and go out and have a focused, convincing performance as they prepare for the playoffs.

Would definitely not want him dating a member of my family, but he was a great player.

Does Siri/OC strive for a more efficient passing effort from Jalen with the focus still on the run game -or- at some point do they try to jump start the passing attack with 30+ attempts?  Honestly, starting with the PIT defense is a tough spot to open things up but we can't have Jalen sleepwalking through the game either.

  • Turnovers per drive: First in the league at 18.3%

  • Percent of drives without a first down: Second in the league at 38%

  • Expected points per drive: Fourth in the league at -0.47

Being a great player doesn’t mean he’s a great person. I love him as an eagle player. But that’s as a football player. I don’t think he’s the worst guy in the world but i also don’t think he’s some guy I’m putting all my trust in either. i also think cox is the type of guy that probably wasn’t happy about a previous McLane story that he didn’t want publicized and holds it against him for going with it.

Brown has done this before though and they basically shut him up by forcing the ball to him

Why not at a Flyers game?   After all, the Flyers are playing better.
