Lots of chatter locally about Belichick heading to UNC. I would have never guess he'd be interested in coaching a college program.

I am surprised he's not gunning for the NFL lifetime wins record. 26 regular season wins or14 wins counting playoffs away from tying Shula.  Unless he thinks he can coach at UNC for a couple years then go back to the NFL. He's what, 71 years old now so he'd be looking to start an NFL head coaching stint at 73 or 74. Maybe having a 20 something girl friend has caused over confidence.

 Lol

Yea, I don't understand this one bit. He's probably there for 2 years then his son takes over and that's the only reason he's doing it.

I'm in disbelief too. Thought for sure he was going to wait it out and try to land with a team to beat Shula's record.

Well, when you lose to NC State 4 seasons in a row, you do crazy things to fix it.

I'm surprised it's UNC to be honest

His dad coached at UNC in the 1950's.  Steve Belichick apparently wrote the bible for college recruiting. I am sure there's been no changes in recruiting since he wrote it.

There's been enough chatter about this that it's bound to happen whether we like it or not.

Yes. Snow games are fun but rain, wind, extreme cold… not fun to watch.

It would be a short-lived record for him because Andy should surpass it within the next five-six years if he wants to keep coaching.

Im all for a dome to attract larger events. But Id want the roof open except for rain, or a blizzard. Id let it be cold for football. It let it be hot. Id let there be snow as long as its not a crazy storm where fans have to shovel out seats like in buffalo. I wouldn't want to get rid of the elements completely.

The best thing he’s done since the bye has been limiting turnovers and dumb plays. It was a huge issue last year and reared its head in week 1 against GB causing concern. He deserves credit for getting that right. But he’s gone so far to the other side of the spectrum of playing safe, it’s taking away the numbers everyone wants to see. If you want those back, you’re probably going to have to take the good with the bad because the turnovers will probably return if he starts to force things.

I love the identity of this team being run first and defense. I know it goes against the trend of going deep in the playoffs historically, but Hurts did nothing in the playoffs in 2022 and they walked to the Super Bowl. I know they’ll have to face better competition this year than NYG and SF with no Purdy but this defense is better than 2022. And I also know they’re paying AJ and DeVonta big money.

I just don’t want them to turn the dial too far and have Hurts throwing 45 times a game. I don’t think that’s a good recipe. The Cincinnati game had the best formula for them with Hurts only throwing 20 times but being efficient on almost every drop back. I don’t think they need to do much more than that, but he needs to be better with the plays that are called passes.

They don’t need to turn the dial that much though. They could have him throw it say 25-30 times and that would be a step in the right direction. I actually think there’s a way to make everyone happy without taking away our run game identity. Starting games a bit faster would help… I mean this team tends to manage very few plays early in games which doesn’t help.

On the flipside, in 2024 NFL, every advantage goes towards the passing offense. Hurts has 2 of the best WR in the NFL. He's thrown for 200 yards or less 7 times (202 included). You can't pass for 200 yards? Hell, he's thrown for less than 120 yards THREE times.

The passing game is in serious need of help.

I don’t argue that at all. The passing game needs to be better no doubt. Hurts needs to be better no question. I just don’t think it’s as bad as is being made out this week.

The issue is not the aggregate, but more about the current trend.  It has really tailed off in recent weeks.  83 net passing yards last week is bad.

It is yes. Really bad especially given there were missed opportunities and plays left out there.

True, he's within striking distance now.

That's what makes it more an issue for the QB versus the system.
