I also have great respect for Demarcus Ware.

He was a monster and apparently a good guy.

Art Donovan thought that Bednarik wasn’t all that good at center. He wrote about it in his book. Obviously Chuck was outstanding at linebacker. I guess it makes sense that he was much better at one position than the other.

Assuming they ran the ball at least 80% of the time when he was center and probably no shotgun?

Our drafting got better after Douglas left, but most seem to have a high opinion of him.  I wonder if Howie would bring him on as a consultant as he rehabs his resume.

IMO, after Douglas left Howie started to move towards the consensus draft board.  We still needed to scout every player to determine positional fit, culture fit, red flags, etc.  But I think Howie recognized that trying to be smarter than 31 other teams wasn't working.  Instead, he started to lean on his strengths of assigning value, trade arbitrage, and reading the draft.  His run since 2021 is impressive.

I don't know if Mitchell was a consensus pick over Terrion Arnold.  The Mitchell pick seemed to fall in line with past picks where they relied on the Senior Bowl performance.  Jalen Carter was a no-brainer.  Jordan Davis over Kyle Hamilton wasn't a consensus pick but a positional value and athletic upside pick.

Glad he got a ring with the Broncos

Keep Joe Douglas far away from our new process.

Joe Douglas is hot lava

I do too, but I was long gone from Dallas in 2005 when he was drafted by the Cowboys. I had to like him from afar.  With Emmitt, it was a very close connection.  I really admired how well he handled all the attention that Aikman got, while he got very little by comparison.

Emmitt was just a humble guy. Great competitor, but he knew the OLine & DJ were the catalyst of his success.

I think RBs of that height and weight are the better RB builds, Henry being the exception. But that low center of gravity and being able to "hide” behind large humans make a difference imo. I think Jeanty will have a good career in the NFL as well because of his speed and build.

Same with Roger, but his was more long term health concerns. He was older than the years he played because of his time in the Navy after his college days at Navy. He graduated in '64, didn't play pro until '69 and retired in '79 due to having 20 concussions in that span.

When was Roger Ruzek in the Navy?  🤔

Just put the driver back in the golf bag.

First I’m seeing this and, as a golfer, I have to laugh.  Everybody loves a good draw.  But when I am too far left, I don’t remember ever calling it "over drawing”.  My friends didn’t nickname me "Mr. overdrawer”.  No, they called me "Mr Snappy”.  I can go from a draw to just left of way the eff left in a hurry.

I hope for Jake’s sake (and ours), that he is better at fixing that issue than I am

I forget who it was who told the story but here it is. When Jimmy Johnson was coaching the Turds, Emmitt got hurt and the Turds struggled. Next pre-season in a scrimmage, Emmitt made a cut on some simple-ass play and Jimmy said, "We’re back.” It was a Super Bowl year.

He has more time and more incentive to work on it than you do.   So, I think there's hope for Jake.   But, I think there is a little something to the idea that he has been underutilized.  As the weather gets colder, it would benefit him, I believe, for him to do the kickoffs to just keep his legs warmed up and keep him focusing on results.  Kicking into a net doesn't show you if the ball is doing as you intend it to or not.

🤣 I forgot all about him, the Cowboys were putrid back when he kicked for them...and he was great his first year and then horrible for them the next two years...

Im a closet emmit fan lol. Only running back to have a rushing title, MVP and super bowl mvp.

No worries.  He wasn't great for the Eagles either, IIRC.  @FranklinFldEBUpper probably can confirm my memory.

It would not shock me to see him in a Cowboys uniform in 2025.

He grew up in Frisco playing for Lone Star HS, some of their home games were at The Star. There are just too many needs to say RB is the right pick, DAL needs help @ DT, OL, WR, S, long term QB, RB...they need to trade Micah for draft capital and then maybe trade back a couple of times to get more picks. Even then they have to hit on every dang one of them...only position group that is solid is TE, P, and K. DAL could very well be in for a long 3-4 years.

Looking forward to this game, the Rams have the ingredients to give the Birds a hard time defensively, offensively, schematically.

I figure this will be a good test for the back seven in terms of playing smart, and the front four getting to the QB. I don’t expect the Rams to be very forgiving.

Likewise, the Rams DL is young and good. If the offense sleepwalks through the 1st half, it’s going to be tough climbing.

He had one pretty good year here. 1990, I believe. He won a game in Atlanta with a fairly long last second field goal. He was better than Zendejas anyway.

I'll give you Micah for Gainwell straight up to fix your RB problems.  After all, its in his name... he gains well.
