My little corner of the house is an old car garage that was converted into a mother-in-law suite by the previous owners and which has now become my man cave.  Not super large but might comfy and with its own bathroom.  I have a small refrigerator for the beer and lots of stuff on the walls, etc.  Plenty of Eagles' gear of course.  The distance from the wall to the couch is almost perfect for a 50 inch tv and I have an old school top of the line Panasonic plasma which still kicks serious arse with the darker colors and motion.  I'm not making a change at this point but I suppose a 60/65 inch size OLED is in the cards not too far down the line.

Everything seems to be 65/75/85 now. A 75 would just look silly in the room in question. But i am considering a sonos sound bar and sub

Yeah, you don’t want to sit too close to a larger tv. I’m usually only having two or three other people in the room for a game so the lack of space isn’t an issue. I think a 65 will be great but not larger.

btw - Guess your state was pumped last night.

Any excuse to tailgate and gamble…

IU has a huge following and ND is kind of love/hate

I was just having this conversation with my dad. I still have his "big" purchase TV when digital TVs came out, a 37 inch, 720p Sony Bravia. That was top of the line back in the day, and it still works just fine for kids. I was at costco the other day and it seemed like the standard TV size is pushing north of 70 inches now. It used to be 55 when LCDs became cheaper and now those are dirt cheap.

If you like audio, you can get better bang for your buck if you get a full sound system and avoid sound bars. If you want simplicity, then a sound bar will be just fine.

It's gonna be cold tomorrow. Probably the coldest game the Eagles will have played in since the Bears game in 2022. Could be a good game to pound the rock.

The game is in Maryland tomorrow. Low 30s.

You take a few steps back and it's not hard to admire how this team is constructed.

 - Every starter on offense aside from Becton is under contract next season.  Even if you throw in Gainwell and Fred Johnson as potential departures, that is plenty of continuity if none of them return.  Especially when you consider they have Steen ready to step in at RG.

 - On defense, Baun, Sweat, and Williams are the starters unsigned next season.  Add in Rodgers and Graham as important parts.  IMO, Baun is the only indispensable name on that list.  There will be plenty of ways to address the DL in the offseason, finding another LB playing at an All-Pro level won't happen.

We have all our draft capital and aren't in any salary cap crisis.

We are in a really good spot.

As long as they kept drafting well they'll be in a good spot, they've crushed 4 drafts in a row after being hit and miss there for a while. I think they will re-sign at least 2/4 if not 3/4 of their guys. I think the most likely one to go is either Sweat or Milton WIlliams, but I suspect Fangio will have input. Pass rush will be a huge focus in 2025 free agency/draft.

Your dad and I probably would get along.  We still have a 32” Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR4. For what we watch … the daily PBS Newshour, it serves us well.  However, we both have hearing aids these days and it would be much nicer if we could Bluetooth connect to the TV while watching.  So we have, like so many people, cruised the aisles at Costco.  I’m pretty sure we want LED rather than OLED, but really don’t know the trade offs well.  The one really important question is whether the speakers can still put out sound when the Bluetooth connection to the hearing aids is active.  It would be ideal for the hearing aids support to be able to connect to more than one person’s hearing aids simultaneously.

Thoughts?

The Anti-McNabb

Jalen Hurts led 4th quarter comebacks this year in back to back games vs. Saints/Falcons too. He closed out the Packers/Steelers. I don't count the Ravens/Rams games as that was done via the run game.

Can't be, Hurts is a terrible QB. He definitely doesn't have a career high in completion % and passer rating this year either since the media and half the fans have told me how bad he sucks.

It’s great football weather down here.

How far do we have to trade up to get Thler Warren?

Plus he had the longest streak in NFL history that ended late last year of games down by double digits that he came back and won.

I'm not sure if it's a lock that the Vikings will own the tiebreaker over the Eagles, that just seems wrong, the Vikings of all teams. Or if that's still fluid based on how other teams around the NFL perform and their schedule so it could still influence SOV.

But if it's not fluid and the Vikings would own it no matter what(which just seems there's no way, it's Sam Fing Darnold and the Vikings, just.... no) then that would mean if the Vikings and Lions win the next two, that the final game between them in week 18 wouldn't matter to the Eagles. It would just be winner takes the 1 seed and the Eagles wouldn't have that "worst case scenario" where they'd have to play their starters and hope the Lions lose.

But the schedule crunchers have not declared that as a fait accompli yet, so it might still be fluid. There's just no Fing way Sam Darnold could have a higher seed than the Eagles I refuse to accept that.

Only way the Vikings are a higher seed is if the Lions lose the NFCN. One of those teams is a wildcard.

Don’t think he’s going in the first round

Next time we disagree on what we are seeing in a game I am going to use the TV thing against you 😆

In my experience with Bluetooth connection to headphones, it always shuts down the TV speakers and only connects to one set.  I do think there are standalone Bluetooth adapters/transmitters that can connect to your TV’s audio output and connect to multiple headphones.

Disagreement.   The Sky Hook is far more difficult... which is why even to this day, no one has ever mastered it the way Kareem did.

That's why you have so many "3 and D" players across the NBA.  Which I find hilarious, because they aren't really "3 and D"... "D" in the NBA is much more of an idea than a reality.   And when I watch the NBA, most of the 3s are taken with no one really in the face of the shooter these days.  And its often thrown out to a guy who's just standing there waiting for the ball to be passed to him for a spot up 3.

But hey... if the current NBA product is so great, you'd have to ask why the ratings are so far down... and why they had to create a hokey in-season tournament in order to try to build up artificial interest in a game in the middle of November.  🤔  Something there doesn't seem to add up, does it?

Skyhook isn’t that hard.  Growing up watching that shot, I developed a decent one.  Suspect to this day, I would have a greater percentage with that shot than an NBA three pointer, which came into existence after I quit playing.

Tyler Warren the best possible heir for Goedert.

I would say LG is king in the OLED space. Sony may be comparable but there is no reason to pay more for their label on the front of your set. You gain nothing in quality.

If youre not going OLED, then I see no reason to buy anything but TCL these days.

What someone else said about LG is true otherwise. Any other appliance, never buy LG. Samsung appliances suck too.

My place in Colorado had a Samsung washer/dryer.  Ended up being a gear seized up in the dryer…but when i first had issues I YouTubed fixes for belts and resetting the arm.  The beginning of the video started with ‘don’t ever buy Samsung appliances, but since you’re here that means you probably already did.  So now you know for next time’.

Going to be interesting to see him play.  Atlanta’s OL is pretty bad, and in college his fundamentals broke down (not that he had good ones) and he got very erratic when under any sort of pressure.
