Ouch.  I suppose an apology is appropriate, it was a bit of an ad hominem attack, and it was completely unnecessary.   That said, I still believe that a line consisting of Jalen Carter and Myles Garrett automatically be catapulted to the greatest DL ever is extremely premature.  That's either extremely hyperbolic, or narrow viewed.  There have been a lot of great DLs in the history of the NFL, and many of them are actually better than the best line the Eagles have ever had, which I wouldn't automatically concede to a line of Carter, Garrett, Davis and Smith/Sweat.  They'd have a lot to prove to be elevated to that level.  The potential could be there, but the production would need to then back it up.  I personally never like to vault the potential of something over the legends of the game.    As I discussed early, the 70s had some great DLs, each with their own nicknames - Fearsome Foursome, Purple People Eaters, Steel Curtain and Doomsday Defense.   The style of the game is very different from today, and the rules have been changed dramatically, so its hard to do a proper comparison, but watching some video from that era would be potentially very interesting for you if you like line play.

Missed the beginning of this and not stepping into the fray other than to say you don’t even have to go that far back or to other teams. The birds had peak Reggie white and Jerome brown on the line in 1991 before we even get into Clyde Simmons.

Not to be an iconoclast, but I think Carter is much better than Brown ever was and Brown was terrific.

I agree.

@Swoop can you explain to me what #2 means?

It has two meanings, to me:

Winning a Superbowl so that people like myself might stop pointing out Jalen Hurts' shortcomings on the ten passes he makes a game

AND/OR

It's used as a motivation, to further make a player or group of players lock in and add an extra level of "oomph" to their game. It's that bulletin board material that players are often trying to avoid giving the other team as many players of all levels across all sports use said material to further fuel their desire to win.

Now I've been told that anyone that does this sucks and when I've pointed out that Hurts also does it...suddenly this doesn't exist in sports and every player, including some of the best athletes of all time don't use it.

I hope I helped

The key in these situations is to look at the exit numbers rather than the ongoing numbers

People have to remember we’d be giving up 5-6 premium players to get Garrett.

Hes gonna need a contract that’s 35+m$

Why does he need a new contract?

It has arrived.

I was waiting for you to help out. Appreciate you.

Fun little note to add on:

In Tampa, Tom Brady would often collect negative notes, remarks etc that would bash his OL and their play as a means to motivate them.

It's unfortunate that this doesn't happen anywhere in sports in any capacity.

It would never work.

First he has a no trade clause. He didn't want to come to the Eagles before, I don't see why he would want to come here to be a backup at best, a pawn at worst.

Second, his base salary of 2025 ($46M) and 2026 ($46M) are fully guaranteed. If the Eagles traded for him they become responsible for $92M guaranteed, and it would explode their cap if they cut him.

Reality sets in.  You are right the guarantees of the 25 and 26 salaries make it untenable.
