I haven't lived in Philly area for 20 years. Amorosa used to be the best. But I've seen people discuss another bakery that is the new go to best.

Who makes the best seeded bun?

Game tomorrow.

1st play of the game is going to be the new TE sweep to Goedert or a play action off of that with AJ Brown deep. Seeing them run it twice in the NFCCG leads me to think they want to build from it. Catch KC off guard and set the tone.

I'd love to see a double move to AJ Brown on the first play.  Put that in their head then grind it out on the ground

That encourages me.    Because I think the game pivots on the Eagles' OL dominating the Chiefs' DL and Saquon going off.  Is that what you are seeing?

Yes.

Last years Eagles - Chiefs game on NFL Network right now.  Late in the fourth Fletcher Cox hit Mahomes (clean hit) - Mahomes went down and cried for a flag - the ref threw it.  Be prepared - it’s coming again tomorrow.

I was living in San Francisco back in the late 90's/early 2000's.  Was driving through the city and saw a shop and it said Philly Cheesesteaks and banged a hard U-turn.  Went in and ordered.....something was served to me on f'ing Sour Dough Bread with Carmalized Onions and I guess beef/steak and I was like....."you should be ashamed of yourself" and "take any mention of Philly Cheesesteak down off your f'ing windows!!".  It's amazing that anywhere, any place can put "Philly Cheesesteak" and thing it's actually a Philly Cheesesteak.  And yes, always been partial to Jim's on South Street....grew up knowing the owner and his sons.

Funny you mention that.  There are restrictions on the use of the terms Champagne, Bourbon, Vidalia, etc.  There really should also be restrictions on the use of "Philly cheesesteak".

2 years ago, I got a haircut between the NFCCG and the Super Bowl, and we lost. My wife today -- "you should get a haircut before flying to New Orleans, it looks shaggy." My response -- "not doing that again, and why exactly are you out of the kitchen?"

Two years ago I got drunk the night before the Super Bowl. I rewatched LII and posted in the Blog as if I were watching live.

For unity and good fortune (and not at all because it’s generally sad to get drunk alone and post on a message board) I too will abstain from clearly cursed actions.

Those Goedert screens and quick passes need to be a thing. He’s great after the catch and it should slow down their blitz.

But ultimately our OL should be able to beat up their DL.

They should work this time since we won’t be playing on an ice skating rink.

I just flipped on NFLN and see it’s now the Super Bowl matchup.

The way I see Witten is a complete, but unspectacular TE. No weaknesses. But if we are going top 5, there are 5 guys who, in their prime, I’d take over him without hesitation.

I’ll put the argument like this: you could happily build an entire team’s passing attack around Gonzalez, Gates, Gronk, Kelce, etc. and compete for a Super Bowl.

I don’t think I’d do that with Witten, despite him being a high volume receiver.

Witten kills them all in the run game and pass protection

Yep.

Wouldn't surprise me if Barkley had a big run or two called back because of "holding"

Yup. It's not "rigged", but they get the benefit of the doubt for anything close.

If we were just doing TEs from the last 30 years, I’d probably go this way

1. Tony gonzalez

2. Gates

3. Kelce

4. Gronk (if he stayed healthier I’d have him higher. he had 92 tds in 143 games is ridiculous to me. He has more tds than Kelce, Witten and sharpe in significantly less games. He has only 621 receptions but 9200+ yards everyone else has over 815 receptions to get to 10k)

5. Shannon sharpe

6. Witten

Kelce doesn’t deserve to be in the convo after bringing Taylor Swift to the NFL last year IMO>. I like to leave him out of my brain…permanently, personally. 🤣

TE’s are hard to rank IMO.  Especially where Gates, Kelce and Sharpe sit due to blocking ability…or lack of.(at varying levels).

I’m probably gonna get torched for this comment, but I’ll hold firm that I think Witten is one of the best to do it.  After Gonzo and Gronk the water gets muddy.  I prefer a ‘complete’ TE…personal preference.

Goldbelly is great!  Expensive but the high quality matches the high price.  We just got torrone from Isgro’s from them as a house present from East Coast friends who arrive for a visit Wednesday.

Caroline's Cakes has an incredible caramel 10 layer cake that is absolutely decadent.  So rich it is too rich.  Fabulous

Yup we used the last time for rolls and some jewish apple cake from home that my wife loves

since it was obviously bad luck i did not do that this time

going to check out a philly sub shop in indy today

Shannon Sharpe just because he was a three time SB champion and was such an integral go to part of the offense, yeh , I can get behind that. I wish he didn't do TV though. Loved him as a player, hate him in the studio. His brother was always my favorite player of the two, he just seemed more humble and down to earth.

If you sit and listen to some of his podcasts and ignore what he did to drive views with Skip…Shannon is actually a guy I’d sit down for a drink or 10 with.

Like Gronk…his ‘media’ persona vs who they are I think are wildly different.

It was on last night too.   I watched a little... then went to bed.  A few things stood out though...

1 - The defense didn't do much even in the first half.  One of the 'stops' was actually a missed FG by Butker.

2 - The Chiefs were the bullys and played like it.  The Eagles played a little tentative and back on their heels.

3 - The Eagles relied on the passing game... a lot.   A lot was made of how little Sanders was used.   The running backs got 17 carries split 3 ways.  And the one piece that stands out to me the most was that Sanders fumbled on the very first carry of the game, out of bounds.   I wonder how much that was on Steichen's mind the rest of the game.

4 - The Eagles punted twice.  The Chiefs punted twice.   The Chiefs got a big return, the Eagles did not.

5 - The Chiefs botched a snap.  The Eagles flat out dropped the ball.   Chiefs recovered both.

6 - I still think the game turned the first time Sirianni blinked in the second half.  The Chiefs had just scored after the half to make it a 3 point game, and the Eagles chose a FG rather than going for it on 4th down.  And that's when the Eagles really lost the game.  The Chiefs got the ball back and took the lead for the first time, and the Eagles were in catch up mode the rest of the way.

This time around I see the Eagles as being the more aggressive team.   I see the Eagles being the bullies, on both sides of the ball.  And I see the best player on the field this time will be wearing Green, not Red and White.  Last time, Mahomes was the best player on the field.  He wasn't statistically that guy, but when they needed the play, he made it, each and every time.   But, this year, the best player on the field wears #26 in green.   If the Eagles are smart, they will ride this historic season right down Broad St.  I expect a minimum of 30 carries for Barkley.  I expect them to have an oxygen tank dedicated to him on the sidelines.  I expect them to give him an IV at halftime.  And I expect that he will set new league wide records on Sunday night.

Give it to this man and let the magic happen.  Hand offs, wheel routes, you name it.  Seasons like this don't happen often.  Ride the hot hand.

Not sure as a transplant in the mid state that I could know what the proper bread is for a true cheesesteak.  Interesting about the steaming of the bread.  Not sure I have had that done properly.

But I can relate to the bread issue. We lived in NOLA for my early years and my folks were introduced to po’ boys. (I am sure @vikas83 is munching down a Po’ Boy at Mother’s as I type this.)  The NOLA style French bread must be fresh that day, no preservatives.  Crunchy on the outside and somewhat airy on the inside.  We move to Houston and get a Po’ boy.  My mom shakes her head and says that is not a po’ boy (folks from that area understand my capitalization differences).  Thereafter, whenever I went to NOLA or Mandeville to see my cousins, I would return the Houston whether flying or driving with a few loaves of fresh French bread.  Mom would have po boys for us that evening.

Me, if it’s good, it’s good.  If you are ever in Galveston, Shrimp n Stuff for their fried shrimp Po-boy. (The hyphen makes me chuckle.). Mom never liked their bread but damn, I love their shrimp.

Sidenote if any of you fellow heathens make it to Mother’s, note on the menu you can get fixins (damn spellcheck doesn’t recognize fixins) for red beans - ham hunks and ham bone, both necessary for NOLA red beans and rice, IMHO.

My wife and I honeymooned in NOLA. Our best meals were at Uglesich’s and their Shrimp Uggie was maybe the best dish I ever ate, unless it was their Volcano Shrimp or the trout in what they called muddy water. It has been closed for years now, about 20. I made the mistake once of asking Anthony for the recipe to his remoulade. "I’d tell you but then I’d have to kill you,” he said. I don’t know if he was joking but I never got the recipe.
