Up and coming offensive coaches should be foaming at the mouth to be the OC here. And I think they will be. Great players, great opportunity to call plays and do things your way, and it's a clear ticket to a HC job.

That's how Baltimore moved the ball on us too. Although it was a lot of high passes that those guys had to go up for and barely snag with fingertips.  Still,  they had success doing it.

I'm not that worried though.  He's one player.  It's going to take more than that to beat us. And he's very slow.

Not only that but the Chefs don’t usually use Kelce as just "the dump off” guy in their offense - the way the Commanders used Ertz most of the time.

Expect Kelce to go over the middle a lot - even on some deeper routes - and if that’s the case, our secondary should be able to contain him.

What we don’t want to do (especially in zone) is to allow them to create mismatches by having a LB on him.  Other than maybe Baun in some schemes, I don’t want a LB covering Kelce most of the time.

So we’ll need to figure out a way to get either DeJean or CJ on him, whenever possible, imo.

I read he fought with the QB. Last thing we need.

I think way too much is being made up about Ertz "carving up" the Eagles defense. Ertz was washingtons big 3rd down target and has been for the whole season, this was nothing new.

While Ertz had 104 yards, how many did McLaurin have, or Dyami Brown? It seems like the Eagles forced the washington offense to go through Ertz, who's not know for his YAC, so they would have to dink and dunk their way down the field.

And you don't think that Kelce will be Mahomes' third down target?  And Kelce IS known for his YAC, even as he's slowed down over the years.   It's a concern, and they need to try to find ways to remedy this.  Remember, in 2017, Gronk was the Patriots' main target too.  And it was pretty effective... nearly effective enough to win.

Vic was a consultant for the offense you idiot

Ertz had 11 catches for 104 yards. So yeah the defense needs to manage Travis Kelce, but you know he's going to get his plays. Mahomes and Kelce are great players. You know Kelce will make plays and he still does it.

However, also consider that the defense still got 4 turnovers and held the Commies to 23 points, while scoring 55. Obviously we don't expect that many points in the SB. The defense will do it's job but the Chiefs will make big plays and score some points. The offense needs to establish a lead and do what they've been doing all year, punish in the run game and let the O line wear down their defense. Having a lead will help momentum for the defense to force turnovers and get pressure.

People focus on being "scared" or concerned about what the other team will do. The Chiefs should be scared of Barkley, Brown and Smitty and...Goedert, who in the postseason is the 5th leading NFL receiver.

15 catches, 188 yards, 1 TD. Avg yards per game 62.7 (Kelce is 68 per game).

I mean hard to adjust when your oline was bad most of the year and banged up at times outside of LT and LG. Then you lost your top WRs and 2 for significant time. Collins missed 1.5 months. Diggs missed half the season. And dell missed 3 weeks

pff grades for Texans ol starters:

tunsil: 76.5

howard: 70.5

Patterson: 61.5

Mason: 62.3

Fisher: 50.4

3 of their 5 starters were bad. Not really sure how you want him to adjust to having a bad OL outside of LT and LG and losing weapons at WR throughout the year. At some point you just don’t have the guys you need to run the offense he wants

I was high on Stroud, but he was bad at times last year. I can’t blame that all on slowik because he had some decisions in games that were just atrocious.

True, but we faced Gronk in his prime. This ain't prime Kelce.

Yeah, I think playing with the lead would be huge for us.   We don’t want to be behind going into halftime or worst yet, the 4th quarter.

That said, I think if we play our A game on both sides of the ball, we should be able to get the lead early and should be able to hold on to it throughout the game.

Texans have a good defense and the Chiefs scored 23 against them, their offense could only score 14. Our defense held the Packers to 10, Rams to 22 and Commies to 23 who were a hot offense entering the playoffs. Using about that number, if the Eagles defense holds the Chiefs to around 22-23 points, then the offense just needs to perform a little better than the Packers (22) and Rams (28) performances. The 55 against the Commies was great but rare. If they can score 28-30 and the defense does it's job they will win.

Of course, it would be great to do a Tampa and hold KC to under 10 and dominate. Yeah, let's just do that. :smoke:

All of you guys looking ahead are going to feel real silly when you realize the Pro Bowl games will be a trap game.

From a schematic standpoint it's pretty obvious the Eagles will intend to use their OL and MVP-caliber RB to dictate the play to the Chiefs.  It plays to the Eagles strengths and philosophy and also keeps Mahomes off the field and limits his possessions.  It's also apparent Spagnuolo will scheme to slow down the Eagles run offense; in Super Bowl 57 the Eagles RBs ran 17 times for only 45 yards.

The key for Moore will be to anticipate who the Chiefs will use to accomplish that task.  I was listening to NFL Radio last night and Pat Kirwan mentioned talking to Bill Cowher, who speculated that the Chiefs will use the blitz to fill the rushing lanes.  Says the Chiefs did that against the Ravens in Week 1 to hold Derrick Henry to 46 yards on 13 carries (although Lamar Jackson ran for 122 yards in the game).  I think it's also likely the Chiefs will play their safeties closer to the LOS to get more contact on Barkley before he can get into open field.

I still think this will be a lower scoring game, and red zone defense will be key again.  Chiefs scored 5 TDs in Super Bowl 57 and got two easy red zone TDs by scouting the Eagles defensive tendencies from early in the season.  No doubt Fangio will have an adjustment to counter those red zone pass plays that worked so well for KC.

if Moore goes to the saints, I’d add patullo to this list but feel like those would be the candidates

The key to OC here is play calling.  Eagles will focus on that and what the OC can add to Nick’s offense.

@just relax

In watching the All 22, I noticed that Hurtt and Washburn were lining up Hunt, Nolan and even Huff in a lot of wide stances (significantly wide on the commies  OTs and very focused on keeping Daniels inside the tackles.  Would employ the same approach against Mahommes. You watch line play a lot, I think Taylor  struggles with that. Don’t let the OTs get a hug on them.

Pole climbing:

Not a lot of coaching experience with any of those names.  The Eagles got burned with promoting a relative novice in Brian Johnson to run the offense.  I think anyone the Eagles bring in to run the offense (if Moore leaves) would need to follow the same philosophy as Nick/Kellen for the sake of continuity.

Frank Reich starts to look better and better compared to that list.

Still hate luvu but this was nice

Mahomes presents the same elusive challenges as Daniels.  My gut says that Daniels escapes to the edges a bit more than Mahomes, who weaves though the gaps in the D-Line more.  However, the approach to containing them both is pretty much the same.

There's gonna be pole climbing that night, but the kind that will lead to a lot of newborns with the name Saquon in November.

I think Reich makes sense if he still wants to coach. He's 63 going on 64 (during the season). He took the year off. Fangio is older but still wanted to be a DC. Haven’t seen anything on Twitter recently where Frank Reich was offered a coaching job or trying to get back into it when new HC were assembling staffs.
