Huge difference in attacking down hill and being attacked

Not sure I understand your point.  I have always been under the impression that the offense is the attacking force and the attack is proactive … they know where they are going and what they are doing.  On the other hand the defense reacts to what the offense presents them with.

However, when you look at the film clips of the Nolan Smith hits in the Chiefs and Packers games, the concept of attacker and attackee are irrelevant.  Those clips are textbook examples of leverage in action.

There are a lot of people on this team that deserve to get paid. No matter where they go or what they do, they will always be a member of the Eagles Super Bowl Alumni. They will always and forever be tied to our memories, our hearts and sports history in Philadelphia. There is no guarantee how many years they'll get to make money and provide a future for their family. If it's in their heart to go get paid, I'll never begrudge them that. Go get paid but come back and retire as an Eagle.

I trust in Howie to work whatever magic that he can with the numbers. It's hard to get much done the year after winning because all those incentives got paid out. If they can't make it here, go get that paper, but know that we'll always remember them and pull for them as long as they aren't on the opposing sideline.

I think Zach framed this well

In rewatching the GB and especially Commies game (i was bored) i was impressed by Davis. His pass rush is quietly coming on. Starting to see him get some sacks too.

i am a huge Milton Williams fan but i just dont see how we can keep him when we have to pay Carter and Smith after next season. But we will be ok as Davis and Ojomo are trending up

You are coming around to what I have been saying all through the second half of this season.  Hurtt is very quietly and steadily improving Davis’ game.

If Sweat, Williams and Becton can fetch us 2 3rd Rounders and a 4th Round comp picks....I will miss them but, we have Steen to replace Becton (and with Stoutland I'm very confident in our O-Line being ok) and you still have Davis, Ojomo, Carter inside and still have Smith, Hunt, Huff outside.  Not as strong but not the end of the world either.  Baun is THE ONLY MUST SIGN.  Draft some replacements on the DL, a TE and a LB and lets run it on back!

I’m with you on Sweat and Williams, but my concern with letting Becton go is that it leaves us with no succession plan at RT.

I was surprised Howie didn't give him a new contract sometime during the season. Seemed like his price was increasing weekly with the way he was playing

At media week, Howie said he wanted to wait til after the season for any contract extensions. He didn't want to cause a distraction where some guys would ask why they didn't get one.

I think it's a nice way of saying he wanted to see how they played through the end, and evaluate & see which agents are willing to work with him.

In 2017, with a backup QB facing the GOAT, I knew they were going to win. I didn't know how but I just had an unshakable excitement and certainty that this was their year. In 2022, I didn't feel it. I hoped they would pull it off but it just wasn't there for me. Last week, I just knew they were going to win. I had that same feeling from 2017 but amplified by like 10. I knew it was going to be total devastation on a massive scale. I had no nerves watching the game, it was just watching what I felt coming to fruition. I was so locked in that I never had time to celebrate. Never had time to let it all sink in. It wasn't until Tuesday that it really started to become real. It wasn't until I had seen the highlights a dozen times that the joy of each momentous play began to pierce the focus.

I had to wait for a payday to buy memorabilia. I can't wait to hang a team picture of this 53 next to the LII picture forever immortalizing them in my household as Super Bowl Champions for as long as I live.

I think it's really simple.

Howie, Stoutland, and Fangio get in a room.

Fangio explains how badly he needs Milton Williams given that he has Davis and Ojomo.  He explains how badly he needs Sweat given that he has Jalyx Hunt.

Stoutland explains how badly he needs Becton given that he has Steen.

One coach is going to say that they can keep things at the same level with one player's replacement(s).  And one coach will say it can't be done.

Every single one of those players is also going to have a number where Howie will sit on his hands, tip his cap, and wish them well.

Eagles are going to walk away from free agency retaining only Becton.

The Eagles will never leave an OT position to chance.  Unless Becton transitions to that position, I think it's overwhelmingly likely that Lane's replacement will be a first round pick.  Probably even a trade up.

I don't even know for sure that Becton is the right choice at RT, but I hope he is, because it saves us a ton of draft capital.

Sweat and Williams are normal year 5 free agents who will get paid elsewhere. I wish them well when not playing the Eagles.

Baun is different since the LB market is weird and teams don't all value LBs high. He will get some good offers but a competitive offer in Philly with his perfect fit might keep him around. The one concern would be New Orleans stealing him back and trying to play the same scheme but they are in permanent cap hell so that is unrealistic.

I think Bekton stays. He's not going to want to sign a 4 year 70m dollar deal that winds up 2 years and 36m because his new coaches are a bunch of clowns. This team means a lot to him. If they can be competitive, I think he stays too.

Hunt and Ojomo have played well though.  Well enough that you can let Williams and Sweat walk knowing the big money they are going to get on free agency.

The problem is Baun who they can't replace but I doubt they will be willing to pay what he will get paid in FA.

I'm wondering what was the earliest Gatorade Dunk, do we have it? Or is there an earlier one? If that's even known lol.

There have only been a handful of blowouts since the Gatorade bath originated with Parcells. Would think it would be easy to track but I bet we're the earliest.

Tampa over KC

Seattle over Denver

Tampa over Oakland

Baltimore over NYG

SF over SD

And Dallas over Buffalo

I agree it is a massive concern, but the straightforward resolutions to that concern are as plain as the nose on your face.

I personally don’t consider FA negotiations with your own FAs as a "need.”  They are simply part of the nuts and bolts of doing business.  It is tha same as getting up each weekday and going to work. Going to work isn’t a "need” for most people.  It is part of the rhythm of life.

If you don't sign them.... or can't.. they are a need.  DT is a minor need.  Ojomo steps in, but the depth is now much weaker with Williams walking.  It's a need.

Williams said multiple times during & after the game he wants to get paid. He's gone.

I sure hope these all assume Baun should be signed first, because uh.

Can I see us getting a new DL and having it pan out? Easily!
A new G? Definitely, hell considering what happened to Becton, we might get a line wanting to revive their careers?

But the chance of us getting a similar level LB in the draft or FA is like ZERO.

NADA.

Dean ALREADY had one of the best seasons we've seen from a LB. He tore his patellar. We might need another WITH Baun because Dean probably won't be good by next season. Yikes situation all around.

He's a troll.  That's all there is to it.  People keep giving him attention and it feeds him.

Correct. He also openly called people out from here in his stupid YouTube videos and got banned there, allegedly. Wouldn't know as I would never waste my time on watching.

Meanwhile he'll continue to dance on that line, but not openly do enough or be bold enough to warrant a ban.

The easiest solution would be to stop engaging, but, people can't help themselves

You could almost call it a "need".

@Ace Nova awesome clip

It looks like the Chiefs are not even rushing. They only care about mushing up the run lanes so Saquon or Hurts don't get 10 yards and start killing clock. What a great play call.

It’s been this way for awhile. I remember looking back a few months ago and I think Sweats extension was the last in-season extension. It also coincides around the same time of the Zach Ertz drama. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ertz was a reason Howie started doing it this way.

That and he knew he couldn't afford to keep them all.  Someone is leaving.  Likely multiple someones.  And not getting a deal while the guy next to you does might have messed with the MOJO.  Good decision by Howie.  That gamble paid off in spades. It will be a bit pricier for a couple, but worth it to get the Lombardi.

Just criticizing Hurts in a game this season makes you a hater apparently

Just ignore them, there are people more obsessed with other posters criticizing hurts during the season than celebrating the win lmao. Almost every person who criticized hurts during the season has admitted he played well the last 2 weeks and it still isn't enough.

Some people won't be happy unless you say he's the greatest QB to ever play the game of football

I'm scouring the Australian rugby league for our next 7th rounder.
