Clint Hurtt gets an assist.  The MVP really should have come from the defensive side, but no one really stood out singularly to make the happen.  Sweat was close with the 2.5 sacks and the assist on Baun's INT.  DeJean's pick 6 would have been it... if it happened at the end of a very close low scoring game.  But, as it was, while it was the harbinger of things to come, it wasn't enough to take the MVP.    MVP awards seem to only be for the QB these days.

A defensive MVP...only nine times...out of 59 games.

Jahan Dotson.

2 rec, 42 yards, 2 first downs in the SB.

That's a legit #3 slot performance right there.

With a bit more passing next year, I wonder if he'll start to emerge.

We probably win SB LVII if Quez put up those numbers.

We probably win SB LVII if the DL could have kept their feet under them and got to Mahomes even twice.

All due respect to you guys but lets chill with the "ban hammer".  We've already lost 4-5 members who would post here regularly (albeit belligerent at times).

As long as members don't resort to severe personal attacks and/or threats, I can deal with it.  And so should most of us - this is a Football forum - it's a violent sport and yes, it can get the best of us at times.  Just go into this thread or the GameDay thread during any Eagles games and you'll read nonsense much worse than most of what RTK says.

My 2 Cents.  Moving on.

He's been playing the same game for years now, was previously perma banned, took issues within the forum outside of the forum to YouTube and continues to dance on that line. Everyone knows what his game is.

Would the forum honestly lose anything of substance if he was gone?

He'll keep playing his game because he gets off on it, I guess.

Rewatching the Mic'd up... because why not...

Barkley's reaction while Cooper was returning his pick 6 was epic.  Disbelief in his eyes.

SB LII back on NFL Network.

Yep.

As much as I liked Quez, he was a 6th round pick vs a 1st round pick in Dotson - that's why Howie does what he does - 3rd round pick for a previous 1st round pick = better performance out of the slot in the Super Bowl.  ;)

Any questions?

:P

TBH Hurts had maybe 2-3 "bad games" all season - where he gave up turnovers, etc.

The other 4-5 games a lot of naysayers were complaining about would be when Barkley would run for 150-200 yards and Hurts would pass for 120 yards, run for another 50 and score 2-3 total TD's.  The Eagles would win BUT  people would blast him for only passing for 130 yards.

And looking back on that - it is laughable to expect your offense to gain 400-500 total yards every week.  If Barkley runs for 150 - 200 yards Hurts runs for 50+ and passes for another 130  that's 330 - 380 yards of total offense with a WIN - and people were losing their minds over it in here.

It's not the stats. It's the idiotic sacks, bailing from clean pockets, refusing to throw the ball away (ties in with the sacks). He did those things most games this year, and it was poo pooed because "he out played mahomes in the super bowl in 2022" and "we're winning games". The NFCCG and Super Bowl there was none of that, hell in the rams game he took us out of field goal range by taking a stupid sack.

If you watch another angle you can see the DB grab watkins arm way before the ball gets there, keeping him from being able to extend.

Should have been a PI but as we know chiefs had the refs in their back pocket that game.

Watkins still could have caught it but it would have been tough with a DB hanging onto his arms.

That super bowl was FUBAR, the field was rigged as were the refs.

My 2025 optimistic take is that Kellen Moore actually wasn't great, and there's a real chance we upgrade at OC next year. Of course, we'll get injury regression.

I think Moore overall was just ok but I don’t know if I can get behind Patullo being an upgrade. If it’s someone else outside maybe but the pickings seem slim at best.

I hope white girl wasted Reed Blakenship gives a speech tomorrow

I think we might see our first player pass out during a parade. He was GONE in the locker room after the SB. That couldn't have been an hour after the game. Now, pump him full of alcohol all day. Could be quite the show.

I know it’s been posted already but woof, this tattoo

I think it looks bad because he's using that new technique where they build a bubble full of liquid so it doesn't dry out. Sorry if my terminology is way off but it's wild what they do now. He'll peel that fake skin off when it's healed.

This play alone resulted in 3 points instead of 7, so yea.

Not sure he should get credit for DeJean’s pick 6…

Is he the team leader?

To be fair, playing a full football game and probably going 6 or so hours without real food hits harder

JJ is an all time eagles legend as a DC, but in reality his defenses wilted on the bigger stages.  Fangio orchestrated one of the most dominant defensive performances in a Super Bowl ever in his first year here.  Tough though, in Eagles lore JJ will always reign supreme though unless we real off another (or more).

Yep, JJ is and always will be at the top of Eagles DC. His defenses were so fun to watch because you didn't know where the pressure was coming from. Blitzes all over, Dawkins everywhere, Hugh Douglas doin his thing. Just a treat to watch. But like you said, they came up small when it mattered most and more than once.

Fangio's defense was unbelievable and got better every single week. The SB performance was one for the ages. If he can do it again, then it's no question Fangio>JJ.

I don’t see that at all from the video I just posted. Both arms look extended with the ball hitting both hands.

CJGJ wasn’t perfect this season but if you look at the personality of the defense in 2023 and compare it to this season, he’s a massive reason why they got their attitude back. That signing by Howie was more about swagger than stats and it paid off.

CJGJ 2024 was a much more balanced and effective team player.

Some might say that is the Fangio effect

True story. Saquon Barkley ate his cake in record time right after the game so those guys are just dying for calories and fluids. Not to mention Landon Dickerson shotgunning while rolling an IV around.

I was not a fan of re-signing him. He makes a lot of mistakes on the backend, but he does make plays, throws his body around fearlessly and his energy/swagger is infectious.

Fewer mistakes and less undisciplined this time around.

We won’t know of course until we know but I’d rather it be someone else just to keep Nick out of the offense more.
