Surprising for sure...longest flights ever to/from that region...what is that 14.5 or 15 hours? I've done DFW to SYD round trip once...16 hours, alomst unbearable.

Only way to do that is with a pod. Chamomile tea and magnesium pills before takeoff.

I'm still on the Carson Strong one. Any takers? This board goes out of business with out this topic. 😁

Siri’s initial press conference was terrible but he’s worked out well so far.

Sirianni wants to keep ‘fertilizing' to help Eagles flower

I hate to agree with Mike Florio on anything, but he's speaking @vikas83's language here:

I flew Atlanta to Soeul, South Korea which was 14.5 hours; that's the longest non-stop flight I've been on.  Then a short layover while waiting for my connecting flight 4.5 hours to the Philippines.  It didn't help that very few people spoke English at Incheon Airport.

That touch. Longest direct for has been AKL to NYC last year. Its a little over 16 hrs there but almost 18 hrs on thw way back.

With connections going to Europe for us always takes ~24hrs, as was my flight in December to go to Colombia (AKL - HOU - Mexico City - Bogota)

DAL showing the entire NFL world that they are once again all in...Eberflus will be named DC and some guy named Kevin Koger is expected to be the OC, he is currently the TE coach from ATL...

SO...not only did Jerry fail to hire a HC with HC experience, he failed to even pick up a coordinator that was on a staff that made the playoffs this year...Yeh! Here we go!

This game is uncharted territory.  For those who doubt it, I have 0% interest in being proven right when the Eagles are on the cusp of winning a SB.

I've been the captain of the traditional passing bandwagon...for about 20 years before it was necessarily traditional.  Right around 2000, the league made it so easy to pass.  I looked at any running team, any team that would spend a 1st round pick on a RB, any team that would build their offense around a RB....with a sense of absolute pity for their utter ill-fated stupidity.  Drafting raw running qbs...even worse.

I still don't think Hurts is a good passer.  Below average at baseline and above average on his best day.  It's not that I care about stats or being right; I just want to win a SB.  And here we are...1 game from winning a SB.  If they win this game, it's all irrelevant.  The "just wins," the threat of the run with the RPO, the argument that you can win by running...it's all valid by default as this team is enshrined in immortality.  Lose...and we get pulled back into the debate if they can get back here and actually pull it off by doing it in this same fashion.  Regardless, it is amazing that they've come this far with a team that is constructed 180 degrees from ordinary.

Good post… I hear completely what you are saying.  Though I do disagree with you to a certain degree.  It is inevitable that a team like our Eagles wins the Super Bowl (whether it’s this year or in the next few).  The game has been changing to this and all we are really witnessing it is a certain type of a hybrid that’s in the middle of the spectrum, someplace…the spectrum of passer versus runner at the quarterback position.

You’re right… The debate ends if the Eagles win on February 2nd.  At least it ends for us as Eagles fans.  However, the debate will continue in other fan bases for years until it’s fully integrated.  I can read the posts now in my head… "Yeah but, they had that Fangio defense".

It’s kind of a silly debate (at least to me).  To me, I have learned that the most valuable trait a quarterback can possess is decision making.  It’s why I don’t really understand some of the QB debates.  Anybody can look at career stats, season stats, playoff stats, etc.  What those numbers won’t tell anybody is which quarterbacks were in charge of which decisions on their respective teams.  Did they have the ability to change a play, were they in charge of protections, etc?  That’s what makes it hard.  But it will continue to be debated…

Obviously, my reply is mainly about Hurts as a running QB, and not the "running team” part of your post.  And I am with you… I used to have the same exact opinion that you do.  "OK great, you have a great running team this year… Good luck winning the championship”.   I’m not going to lie, that’s probably been my opinion for the last couple decades…or close to it.

I know I’m biased, but this team is different.  We have a QB that has been there before and, despite his limitations, is definitely a gamer… Unlike some of our past players at the position.  We have the best offensive line coach in the league. We have the best offensive line in the league, and we have the best running back in the league.  We also have the best defense in the league.

Is that enough to beat the best coach and QB in the league?

I dont know much about Koger but feels like an odd choice. Chargers never developed TEs in that time he was there, and Pitts was the same guy this year.

However, im not down on the Eberflus hire - think thats a solid choice for them. His Ds in Indy were always pretty solid - usually in the top 10. Yes, he failed as a HC but there is a long line of good D-cordinators who failed as HCs and then have gone back to being solid D cordinators.

I feel like winning the game  is probably the top of the list

1.  Get a better RB -- check

2.  Get a better CB -- check

3.  Get a better field -- check

4.  Get better officiating ......... ummmmmmmmm

I hope he doesn't cry unless the eagles win

Let’s be real about the passing game for a minute.

Yes, it’s easier to pass than ever right now. Passing schemes create more easy throws. And yes, average passing YPA is a lot more than average YPC.

But actual QB play is all over the place. Sure over a full season the numbers look nice, but that’s basically a product of the schemes + star position players.

There’s no real number 2 to Mahomes. Hell - and this might be a scorching hot take - I don’t think Mahomes is as good as Manning or Brady were, he’s just the best of this bunch and has an elite offensive HC.  Josh Allen is a less physically dominant Cam Newton with a stronger arm. Lamar is like 2010 Mike Vick. Awesome players, but compared to their counterparts a generation before? And especially in the playoffs? Chiefs are winning by default.

The way the Eagles are built is perfect for the modern generation, but the problem is it’s reliant on too many guys to stay healthy, especially Saquon. I don’t think we really appreciate how great it is that Saquon is THIS explosive 19 GAMES into the season. And while the OL is beat up, all 5 guys will be available for the SB.

All the Chiefs really need are Mahomes and Reid, and they’ll win the AFC as currently constructed.

It's a bit more than that.  They've had a top 10 defense in 5 of the past 6 seasons.

Ravens have had great defenses. Bills too, but less so.

There’s a reason Josh Allen is 4-1 against Mahomes in the regular season and 0-4 in the playoffs.

Speaking of defending next season...

Been contemplating who'd we open up against on Thursday night.  Home games are DAL, NYG, WAS, DET, CHI, LAR, DEN, and LVR.

The NFL would want a competitive opponent, so rule out DAL, NYG, CHI, and LVR.  DEN has no juice.

The options would be DET - the matchup that never happened in 2024.  LAR - one play away from the division round upset.  WAS - a heated division rivalry is reborn.

I've been saying it for weeks. I would bet it's Denver. They like doing interconference games. (Yes, I know they didn't do it this year.) But don't worry. Wally will be all over this topic in about three months.
