We never "did it”. Becton signed for less than $3M. That’s not top of the market. If he wants to sign that deal again or with a pay bump, sure. I’m talking about him making $14M plus.

Yes, we did it. Last years OL was top 5 I’ve ever seen.

We can do it again, and we should. Just gotta bring back Becton.

You don’t. Can’t keep them all. Which is exactly why you don’t then turn around and trade more cost controlled assets for one player who will make $30M+.

No one expects the Eagles to trade for Garrett. It isn't realistic nor will Howie give up the draft capital. Only one who's drooling over Garrett's deek is @RLC and RTK

We aren't letting everyone walk to trade for Garrett.  We are letting everyone but Baun walk because it's the smart move to make.  We have replacements on the roster for Milton, Sweat and Becton.  Pick up the compensation picks and allocate that money else where: Jurgens, Blankenship and the eventual Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith extensions.

Your missing the part where you then have to trade a bunch of draft picks and pay Garrett.

No. Idiotic idea.

Does anyone know why the SB jerseys are on preorder until April or May? You'd think they'd be able to pump them out quicker than that.

You figured they would've had plenty ready

Where did I say he was a stud? He said worth a Damn  Dean is certainly worth a Damn.

Pretty sure it originally said stud…at least that’s what i thought i read.  Dean >>>>> Kendricks.  If it’s worth a damn, you have to go with Hicks.  Dean is a solid player for sure.

That won't happen

If we repeat, it's very unlikely the exact same formula as this past season.  Teams are going to play us differently.

One of the things that allowed us to go so run-heavy was the confidence that our defense would dominate opposing offenses.  When other teams can't score you go conservative on offense because only big play variance (turnovers) can beat you.

There are plenty of reasons to expect us to pass more and run less next year, even if we keep Becton.

I wouldn’t change anything until someone proves they can stop it. If they sell out against Barkley then it’s deep balls just like the Super Bowl. It’s an easy, straight forward way to win.

Sure, add a talented RB in the draft to lighten Barkley’s load, but I wouldn’t change anything keep the run heavy approach because I don’t think teams can stop it with this OL.

I agree.

It’s a terrible idea that Howie won’t do.

You aren’t getting Becton again.

He’s a 6’7” 360 pound mauler with left tackle feet. There are like 3 or 4 guys in the entire NFL with his talent.

No way we should contemplate letting that guy walk because you think you can draft a guy or find a cast off.

If the doctors have concerns about his knee, then that’s something to consider. But on talent, the ability to replace a player, and how they impact the team, Becton should be our highest priority.

You're acting like he was Shawn Andrews or Evan Mathis out there at guard.  He was good, he did his part well.  He wasn't some All Pro at guard though and he probably went out more often than any other starter on the offensive line and that's been a trend for his pro career.  Lane and Mailata both make top dollar for their position.  Dickerson was (might still be) the highest paid guard in the league.  Jurgens is going to get a new deal this summer that will likely make him a top 3-5 paid center in the league.  Becton was good but he wasn't so good to the point where they absolutely need to keep him.  You act as if we don't have the best offensive line coach in the league and consistently churn out great starters along the offensive line.

Balt, Steelers, Chiefs proved you can limit Barkley in the run game

Why bring it up then? It's a fantasy trade

Garrett is under contract and Garrett wants to win. I doubt he's looking to be traded to a contender and then immediately demand a new deal to be the highest paid player in the league.  He's a guy who has his ticket to the Hall of Fame stamped that wants to get a ring before he retires.  I don't think it's going to take as many picks as people perceive to get him, he's better than any player we will get at 32 in the draft and the immediate impact he would make is incredible knowing the caliber of player we would be pairing him with in Jalen Carter.

It reminds me of people scoffing at the idea of signing Barkley.  Yes we had a great offense but you add this top tier elite player who is the best at their position in the league to an already great unit and you will see immediate great results come from it.  That is what getting Miles Garrett will be for our defense and team.  It's really hard to repeat as Super Bowl Champions.  A player like Miles Garrett becoming available for contending teams is a golden opportunity for a Super Bowl Champion that already has the best defense in the league.

What is the realistic number for Becton per year that Howie is likely to offer?

I have seen quite the range.

I think it gets done if it is in the $10-13 million/year ballpark.

An OL-starved team with cap will probably offer $15-18 million/year.

Will there be a middle ground?

Barkley was a FA. Garrett is not. Big difference

I can see 10-13. His success isn't guaranteed elsewhere. Having Stoutland was big for him

Did it means paying 5 out of 5 OL top of the market deals. We did not do that. Not to mention Jurgens was on a rookie deal.

Yeah, Roseman and Eagles aren't a team that will trade for an elite talented player.  Good thing they signed AJ Brown in free agency.  Good thing they got Slay in free agency.

Howie robbed the Titans of AJ. There's a reason why the Titans GM was fired.  Garrett isn't happening. The draft capital to get him will far exceed both AJ and Slay trades

I see TEW is into drunken friday hyperbole again

too enamored with measurements and not enough with actual play and value

Yup

and Jurgens is more important. People act like Steen isnt 6-6 330+ and on a rookie contract

It will be annoying if Wash gets him, but also dumb for them. They need to build an OL for daniels

I can see the Bills as the front runners

46 minutes ago, TEW said:

Yeah. I don’t think people appreciate just how good this OL is. The NFL hasn’t seen anything like it in the salary cap era.

You’d have to go back 30 years to the Cowboys with Larry Allen and company to find a legitimate comparison. And frankly this OL is more talented if we are talking physical traits.

Who do you put above them? Cowboys, maybe the Washington hogs? I’m not old enough to go farther back than that.

This is our entire identity as a team. 4/5 of the players are young. You don’t let one of those youngsters walk.

I would have to ask some others, but maybe the 70s Raiders.  4 Hall of Famers... Art Shell, Gene Upshaw, Jim Otto and Bob Brown.   That would be tough to beat.  That was before my time though.

They should go after Kupp instead

Kupp shouldn't be that expensive to trade for. 4th rd pick that can turn into a 3rd should get it done. Rams are desperate to unload him. He's older and has been dealing with injuries the past few years. Cooper didn't work out that well for them
