Eagles/Ravens on NFLN right now. I was out of town during this game so don't remember much about it besides the DeJean tackle.

Spotrac has him listed as $13.8mm and OverTheCap has him listed as $13.765mm.  Where is your $39mm figure coming from?

Includes the four void years.  They come due if he is no longer on the team.

Take a look at Baun's int in LIX, he hardly moves but just knows where the ball is going and sits in the throwing window and picks it off.

Don't know if you saw this or not, but he says he dropped it in practice, but made it in the game.

Thoughts on TJ Sanders? If the Eagles stay at 32 could be a option.   Has good measurables and decent production .

He's ok. I'm not super high on him right now though. I like the de's much better than the dt's in this draft.

If the money is close they probably won’t. But for Williams and Sweat it probably won’t be close.

I’m optimistic about Becton, and to a lesser degree Baun as well.

I was listening to the Zack & Wulf PHLY podcast. They made an interesting point. Is Becton worth 8 mil more than Steen? The team may not think so. I love Becton and want him back but it's a fair value vs cost point to consider.

Slay’s cost will be a factor, but we are committed to that cost regardless of whether he is on the roster or not on the roster.

No we aren’t. His bonus is non guaranteed.

I am looking at 8 free agent roles that need to be addressed this offseason.

  1. LB1 - Baun.  Just sign the guy
  2. DT - Williams.  I am not sure they can keep him.  We have Ojomo to step up and it's a deep DL draft.  Like Williams, whomever lines up there will benefit from being next to Carter.
  3. Edge - Sweat.  Same as Williams.  Deep Edge class as well.  Hunt looks like a real player.  Still not sure about BG.  Maybe they fix Huff in the offseason.  Both Sweat and Williams will provide significant comp pick value in 2026.
  4. RG - Becton.  I can't see him wanting to be anywhere else right now.  I can envision a very good Guard contract extension with escalators should he move into the RT role in 2026.  Bill Walsh talked about continuity on offense having a larger role than on defense.
  5. OL6 - Fred Johnson.  He may get more money elsewhere to be a starter.  He was a fine swing tackle, nothing special.  If he goes, this may be address with a day-two pick.
  6. CB3 - Rodgers.  He may be elevated to CB2 if Slay is no longer here.  In that case, Ringo becomes CB3.  This is a domino solution that starts with Slay.
  7. LB3 - Burks.  With Dean's recovery timeline, he is an important guy to keep around.  Shouldn't be too pricey.
  8. RB2 - Gainwell.  I am looking forward to Shipley stepping up into this role.  But, as others here have stated, we may want to have a higher-end RB backing up Barkley given the importance of a legitimate running threat in this offense.

Our talent level shouldn't be diminished going into 2025.  Especially if you anticipate our 2024 rookies taking a second-year jump.

I like Steen as a swing quard, which is very valuable,  don't love him as the starting right guard.  There is a reason Becton, having never played guard in college or pros, beat out Steen.   If he is our starter next season, our line is weaker.

Yes, you are correct.  There is an NBC Sports article by Dave Zangaro that talks about this.  If we decline the bonuses and cut DS and JB post-June 1, then their dead money numbers are $24mm and $12mm respectively which we can spread over two years.  A bit better.

This is a really nice breakdown.

Also pointed out you have to pay jurgens. Meaning if you pay him and becton a chance all 5 starting OL are making 10+ million a year

Yes, but is he 8, 9,10 million dollars better than Steen. That was the point they brought up. Looking at it that way, I don't think he is. Even though I still want him back. Becton said he prefers to play G as well.

I don't think Rodgers has the length and physicality that Vic covets for the starting outside CB. Nice player, could be brought back for a back-up type role, but I doubt he is brought back with the intent to start. Ringo or something else would need to be brought in.

I don’t think they like Steen that much. If they lose Becton, I bet we draft or sign someone else to start.

Just ordered this beauty.

Love love love this! I wanted Carter or DeJean.

@VaBeach_Eagle There seems to be an issue where embedded tweets just don't load anymore. Like you go to the page they were posted and there's just a blank space. They weren't ones that were deleted, those come up as "tweet deleted" or whatever.

I made sure it wasn't just my browser. Tried it on several browers on my PC, iPad, and phone. Same thing.

Example:

There's a tweet in that post, but all that's visible is the gif.

I think so.  Furthermore,  Steen is now in year 3 of his rookie deal, so if he does play pretty well as the starter in 2025 he'll be looking for a similar contract this time next year.  Only solution to save $$ at RG would be to let Becton walk, Steen starts next two seasons, let him walk, and draft his replacement this year or next.

X factor is also Keegan.  At one point they liked him. Obviously didn't do anything as a rookie. Think he was pretty beat up coming off NCAA champ run.  We'll see if year 2 shows improvement.

Yeah, I tend to think that as well. I prefer to not use 1st or 2nd on a guard, but it would be possible. We did attempt to trade up for the RG/RT in round 1 last year.
