Overall issues with paying Becton

  • We can't pay everyone and paying Becton would mean paying 5 starters on the OL real money. I'd rather pay another EDGE.
  • Having no young OL is also a problem long-term
  • I would argue that the way we run our offense, RG is the least important position.
  • If there's one position where we can find low-cost options and succeed, it's OL due to Stoutland
  • Becton's injury history is still very real
  • Becton's struggled with his weight in the NFL. It's fine to bank on that in a contract year, but how does he react after he gets paid?
  • Becton is comfortably the worst of the 5 OL. He's a Home run/strike-out type of OL. His best players are crazy, but he's also getting beat on stunts/games a ton. He's not great at recognizing that. Most of our bad OL games were due to Becton. The highs were high though.
  • He's fine as a pass-blocker. Teams absolutely try to pick on him, but that's just as much as not wanting to test Jordan-Lane and Dickerson to a lesser extent.
  • To help out Jalen, I would like to see a shorter RG to help him see. Jalen is not tall and IMO it's one of the reasons he doesn't test the MOF. Having a mammoth RG doesn't exactly help that. Of course Steen is big too, but he's not the giant that Becton is.

There's just too much risk for me.

Thanks.  @just relax and @TEW what are your thoughts about those points?

On October 30, 2021, Loeffler became the first head coach to be ejected for two unsportsmanlike conduct calls.

I like him already.  He should get along great with Big Dom!

Barkley trademarks this phrase (does the guy who said it get anything?). Q trademarked Quinyonamo Bay. Howie filed a trademark for "I bleed for this city."

Hurts trademarked a few of his catch phrases including "I had a purpose before anyone had an opinion."

Only one of these people received criticism for trademarking a phrase from some fans here. 🤔

I get it but you'd hate it a lot more of Mitchell or DeJean tore their ACL playing the final drive.

The hate is more directed at the Chiefs for leaving their starters out there to pad stats.

Im thinking no. He seems to have good acceleration. Im not sure he holds top speed very well. Should be a fast 40 time, but I dont think he is getting 4.2s let alone breaking the record.

The talking head TV shows were trying to find something positive to say about the Chiefs. The long bomb TD to Worthy, they were like "into double coverage" but they failed to mention it was backups. I know everyone recognizes it was a dominant win and don't really care about the score. I know the Chiefs were demoralized. I just would have loved to see a shutout or 40-6.

Eagles doing a lot of work on RB's it seems. Doesn't bode well for Gainwell.

I would absolutely LOVE this guy softening defenses for Barkley.

Agreed.  34-0 or 40-6 is the real score though.  That's when the starters came out.   So, that's the real final score.  Anything after that is meaningless.  Future generations may never truly understand that game, unless they watch it. Classic IYKYK for those who lived it.

I think everyone expected Baun to get offered more from other teams. The hope was he'd take the hometown discount since he played his best under Vic

If Howie takes a stud player from a losing franchise and adds him to a SB roster the rest of the league like

Russini's Baun tidbit ties directly into her saying they may let key guys walk to afford Garrett, which I maintain is bonkers and makes little sense.

Yup, hes such an interesting pick because hes such a talented tweener.

I just thought this was really weird. But I guess we all like to celebrate in different ways.

4.0 easy without those dreads, man.

Also -- that's a lot of speed to be sitting on the bench?  We're talking to _a lot_ of running backs.  Are we going wishbone or something?

Most of the Chiefs points came AFTER they had poured the Gatorade on Siri. That should be a new stat. Points before/after the Gatorade.

Still think we keep Baun. There's a real chance he'll be bad in a different system and get way less money in year 2 or 3 than he would with us.

Garrett and Carter would destroy teams. I think Vic would have fun creating designs. I just hope we don't lose Baun as well

There was a guy a couple years ago that said something along the same lines then went out and ran like a 4.4.5 😒

I like the confidence but its just talk.

I'm going to be patient to see how all this plays out. I really like Baun, I would hate to let another LB walk in free agency.  Obviously can't keep all the free agents but he's my #1 priority.

If Howie manages to keep Baun and get Garrett, then schedule the next parade.

Saw a tik tok video titled top 5 big plays in the super bowl and it had the worthy bomb td listed at 3

Sure sure a dude catching a td against backups after the opposing coach has been doused with gatorade is a big play...😒

One of the things that I keep coming back to is the $16,438,000 of dead money we are carrying for Josh Sweat to be off the team in 2025. I really wonder if Howie tries to extend him before the contract voids on the new league year to reduce the 2025 hit and kick the can. From a 2025 perspective, it would be cheaper to extend him than to let him walk. You need to rip the band aid off at some point, and maybe the time is now (they took the hit for Reddick last year in full). But just an odd dynamic that, at least for this season, it would save money to extend him.

Of course, Sweat hired Rosenhaus, which makes me think he is going to test the open market. If he gets to FA, then the $16,438,000 crystallizes, and there's basically no chance we bring him back.

Be like Chris Jones. Don't say anything and just run so fast your D comes out mid 40
