The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Caleb Ransaw 4.33

Its been a fast group of DBs so far.

Porter ran 4.30 also. One of the best CBs in the class. big time.

more likely, Chauncey and Rodgers slow him down so Baun can come force a fumble from behind.

You cant what if one thing about that play and pretend nothing else the other players were doing would have changed. Yes, the guy one on 1 with the TE slips and that wouldnt change, but the other defenders would be reacting differently, and the TE would have 3 defenders converging on him quickly. 2 of them between him and the end zone.

My only point is they were close to scoring and that's what people are referring to with the "one play away" rhetoric.

I don't even know why this is getting so much push back. Immediately after the game and all week after everyone was praising Carter for saving the game. When someone asked what was the most important play of the 2024 season, that play is the one EVERYONE mentioned.

I hope Saquon had a good game.

Isas Waxter sounds like a typo.

Carter is awesome and he did make the play of the year to secure the Super Bowl run.

My counters are mostly in response to people thinking this is now equivalent to the 1992-1994 49ers and Cowboys and the Rams are right there with the Eagles because 1 snow game was close.

Trey Amos 4.44

Jahde Barron 4.40 Big time for him considering they are calling him a zone CB.

Zah Frazier, 4.39 and then a 4.37 and he gets INTs.

Hairston follows up the 4.30 with a 4.29

Oh and I was hoping they would let Russ cook.  This would be much better.

Russ will cook at his Vegas residency

Does he not see the defender in the endzone that would be ready to tackle him? That's not a TD saving play

It's not a sure thing the safety makes the tackle.

Also not a sure thing he gets a pass off that is on target and the catch is made.  Maybe he throws it high?  Sound familiar? Or low or it slips out of his hand.

With all that said, Rams seem like they don't want to pay $50m and he wants the dough.

Literally any other year in my entire lifetime of watching football, I would have said, "Go get Myles please.  Do it NOW!"

How soon we forget, that less than 1 year ago, before the amazing draft, I still had little confidence in Howie to build out a winning defense.  Even when we won the first SB, that defense was soft, and Brady exposed the crap out of them.  Maybe we can blame the field or Gannon against the Chiefs in 2022, but that defense went limp noodle in the 2nd half, then we obviously saw what happened last season.  The way the dominos fell this year for rookies (1st time I can remember rookies being actual stars on defense), 2nd year players (Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith), and improvement from every single other defensive player on the field not named Sweat (who ironically had 2.5 sacks on the biggest stage) still blows my mind.  And because of this reason, I'd rather stick to our draft assets, and save the cap to keep this young core of freaks together for as long as possible.

Yeah, I'm similar thoughts. We had 2nd year players Carter and Nolan Smith playing like studs. Even Jalyx Hunt who was a 3rd round pick that people liked but thought he'd be more a developmental player, he contributed toward the end of the season and came up big in the playoffs. Sweat was a 4th rounder, Williams a 3rd and they are about to get paydays.

I guess I feel like in a deep draft you can replace Sweat and Williams to pair with Carter, Ojomo, Davis, Hunt and the rest and still be competitive. Fangio is a huge piece here. He and his coaching staff did an amazing job.

Ojomo is next in line here. You're not paying a backup $13M or anything close to that. Not with a heavy DT draft that can cost you $1M- 1.5M to replace in a 3rd rounder. And Carter & Smith extensions most likely next offseason.

Ojomo has 3 years left on a rookie deal.  The anti-Jordan Davis crowd in the EMB is an echo chamber. They will be picking up Jordan Davis 5th year option.  I have no doubt about it.

He has 2 years left.  Still think they pick up the 5th year on Davis though.

First of all Ojomo has 2 years left. Second of all, I'm going by Fangio's actions and my eyeballs that this player is not worth $13M currently.15 snap average in 4 playoff games suggests that as well.

I am putting that 13M to other resources like Baun at minimum and the upcoming extensions. If he wasn't from GA (Carter's buddy) we would  probably say he was mid. Still peeps trying to defend that we traded 4 picks for him and hoping. Sometimes, you have to cut bait and salvage some value. Also, his PFF run grade score, which is his dominant specialty according to all here.

An idea before we get into March. @VaBeach_Eagle Can we get a dedicated thread for simulated mock drafts so the blog doesn't get insufferably flooded with 10 fantasy simulated mock drafts per day from people bored at work?

The ideal scenario is for people to find better ways to bide their time at work when they're bored, but that will likely lead to more Jeffrey Toobins, so I say a good compromise is to make a dedicated thread on the main page and keep that junk outta here.

There always is a thead for mock drafts there is a whole section of the board in general for college football and mock drafts… just very few use it… would be great to have more interaction in that part of the board!
