He's priority number 1. They're a middle of the pack defense instantly with out him and possibly Williams. Rookies aren't gonna come into those positions and just maintain the same production and fit in like that. Got lucky with Mitchell & Coop performing as rookies right away, but they also had a great front 7 in front of them and vets to coach them up. Different scenario next year overall.

It's funny how you say if they lose this guy or that guy they will be a certain defensive ranking.  Talk about making stuff up. Let's just see how the offseason goes before saying what the team will be in March.

WHOOOAAA MY MAN TUTEN BURNIN' IT UP WITH A 4.32

I'm sure glad they ignored the writing on the wall last year when many of us said trade him before this happens. It's better for them to lose him for nothing. DM is dog crap

The Joel Embiid contract goes on Joshua Harris and Morey. I don’t buy for a second the rumor that Joshua Harris was saying I don’t want to extend Joel Embiid. You know how many bad contracts have happened under Joshua Harris and his ownership? Tobias Harris and Horford were both signed in the same off-season and letting butler walk. So I have a hard time believing morey was like we have to do it and Joshua Harris like no we shouldn’t. Especially with Joshua Harris was trying to get a new stadium built. I call BS on that Harris rumor.

that said Morey’s plan formulated in 2024 offseason for the 2025 offseason backfired. Frankly been saying since they did the Harris and Horford contracts were doomed. Only chance they had to win a title and it was a small small chance Embiid, Maxey stay healthy and PG gave you 1 maybe 2 good years to try and win a title. Harris and Morey giving Embiid an extension when they did was just moronic given what he looked like against the Knicks.

Yeah, that makes more sense vs abandoning the youth movement that just won them a SB with one of the most dominating defenses since the Ravens first SB. Why throw that out the window to trade picks and massive cap space for a guy who's 29 and has maybe 3-4 good years left? They are nailing picks left and right, Vic seems to have a very good eye for talent, and it's the deepest DL draft in years.

Plus, as good as Howie is he kind of sucks at trades if we are being honest. Stick to FA and the draft. It just paid off 3 weeks ago.

AJ Brown was a trade. CJGJ was originally a trade

The AJ Brown trade happened when they had multiple first round picks... in the middle of the round.  Not sure we are in the situation we were back then.

True and so was Slay. But then you have to throw in KP, Dotson for a 3rd is pricey, and then his in season trades like Golden Tate and washed up DE. I guess we have to give him credit for the RB trade in 2018 as well. Just seems more often than not his trades are eh vs FA and the draft success. Trading to move up or down he's great.

Beyond SB contribution I still think Dotson contributes more this year than any WR available in his draft spot but yeah there have been trades that haven’t worked out particularly in season

I hope so and I was probably overly critical of his trade ability because of my preference of him using the picks he has since he's been nailing them vs signing a 29-year-old.

I don't think it's funny. Think it's accurate. Replacing 3 excellent starters in the front 7 will be super challenging.  Could be 4 if you count Dean/Burks as not here to start. You want rookies or cheap free agent vets to replace them, right? And the Garrett idea is dumb and short-sighted when there's something long-lasting and beautiful that's in house and a known quantity that can be executed with way less effort and resources. It's a Darryl Morey move waiting to happen. Totally unnecessary.

The title of our 2024 season movie has got to be "Inner Excellence”, right?

I like "Suck, suck, suck it, world, the E-A-G-L-E-S are two time Superbowl Champs!"

Tate was a surefire loser.  I'll never get that one.

I think he was just citing a couple examples to refute the notion that Howie sucks at trades. There have been a lot of misses but some big hits too.

Yeah seems like wr is unlikely a pick

Howie’s trades have been better the earlier they happen in the offseason.

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! The Phils are probably  going to be Wildcard or high 80s 90ish wins over the Braves and Mets in a close NL East race. The Dodgers are probably going to win 100+ No way will the Phillies be the best team but this is baseball. That pitching staff can dominate. You may be right about the lineup. Maybe they add a bat at the deadline that can help them out for the playoffs. This staff has to carry them because they won't have the bats to match the Dodgers.

I think it's funny you believe your opinions are facts. Baun was a cheap free agent remember? I also don't think we can count on that kind of signing to work out often  I never said anything about Garrett, yes it is dumb.  I don't believe they will lose all 3 of the starters on defense that are free agents.  Next year will also be year 2 in the Vic defense with plenty of young players that can improve.  You projecting things based on your opinions right now is all guessing.

Everyone's guessing in here. That's what we do. Got 4 starting positions hanging in the front 7 here in jeopardy of a Superbowl defense. Not even counting Slay in the back 4. Too drastic of changes for something that was so successful in this iteration. I would sacrifice other parts of the club and put resources here to gain the edge and keep it mostly intact as possible. If I even have to get rid of Dallas Goedert to make that happen, I will. And getting rid of J. Davis would be another cost saving measure. Hurts even admitted that this defense won them the Superbowl.

Ken rosenthal keeps mentioning the Phillies going after Tucker in the 2026 offseason. even though he’s a LH bat, he frankly fills a huge need. Can hit cleanup or protect Harper. He is a solid outfielder. I tend to think their big move was something like dealing Bohm, prospects for Tucker but the Astros didn’t like Bohm and/or Phillies prospects they were willing to include. Not sure they make a big time acquisition at the deadline. I think with the money coming off the books this year and even next year with Castellanos and Walker, theyd be more willing to do it in the 2026 offseason.

I do think you want mostly continuity but I will say you can never replicate the previous season.  The chemistry changes, the path changes, the injuries change etc.  Changing a few thnigs here and there is good and it will happen anyway

Then there's this. It makes the most sense to me.
