Todd started inside though.  I personally look at him as an outlier, in that he was just too good to sit on the bench.

Mayberry, honestly don’t remember much of that period…but IIRC he was moved inside well before Andy.

Both were college tackles. I believe Jamaal Jackson was as well.

There is a whole e more to decision making than money

I didn’t say it was going to happen just saying that there is cap savings…only way I would let go of him would be is if we remake the te room. Definitely not cutting him in the next two weeks like was the suggestion

The kid Noel blew the doors off. Made himself a ton of money. I gotta go watch some tape of him

Todd played LT in the preseason his rookie year. Tra Thomas didn’t play much PS. Once the season started Todd rode the bench. Somewhere in that year Tra got injured and Todd moved in at LT. When Tra came back they moved Todd inside since he demonstrated that he was one of the five best OL but he started at LT, which was where he played at Saginaw Valley State.

Looking at potential Day 3 Guards

Connor Colby, Iowa

6'6" 310 lbs

Helped lead the way for Kaleb Johnson.

SCOUTING REPORT: SUMMARY

Connor Colby's lateral agility and proficiency in zone blocking schemes position him well for NFL offenses prioritizing movement and coordination. His experience across multiple offensive line positions adds valuable versatility, though his effectiveness may be limited in power-based rushing attacks. In pass protection, Colby demonstrates potential but needs refinement in his technique against more explosive NFL-caliber defenders.

At the next level, Colby's impact will likely be most significant in the run game, particularly in outside zone concepts where his ability to reach block and climb to the second level can be fully utilized. His performance in double-teams and understanding of blocking angles should translate well to the professional ranks. However, he may face a learning curve in adjusting to the speed and power of NFL interior defenders in pass protection.

That’s a nice story if you ignore the steroids part that they didn’t mention

Milton is gone, Davis is staying and Jurgens will be extended before the season.

Makes no sense to cut Goedert as it wouldn't give them any cap savings.

1) No

2) No

3) Why?

4) Unlikely

5) No.  Given Howie’s use of insurance to mitigate injury risk, he can extend with little  risk, and right now Jurgens would be negotiating from a position of weakness … and would welcome the personal financial security.

All are very possible and need to think a little outside of the box.

Hurts getting a extension is not very possible and doesn't make any sense at all.

Looking at DJ’s top 50. This looks like an all-time meh draft.

Hunter looks like a great prospect, but Ward is a weak top QB, Abdul Carter is a weak candidate for the 1.1, Will Campbell has T-Rex arms. the WRs are fairly underwhelming. Looks like a meat an potatoes draft — OL, DT and, if character concerns check out, edge. There are lots of good TEs and RBs in the top 50, but that’s not really a great thing when looking at the strength of a class.

Saw a joke going around Twitter, saying congrats to 40-22 for winning the Oscar for best original score. Made me chuckle.

DL it's loaded, but overall it's meh. It's deeper than 2024 though, but not near as top heavy in rounds 1-2.

A bunch of good interior lineman which is ok for Eagles. I like the TEs but not really sure I see a guy at 64 as a good bet to become starter after Goedert. Really like Hawes as blocking TE

Completely different snap for starters. A shotgun snap goes about six yards and it’s a flip more than a hard snap. It’s done one-handed because you’ve got a big ugly a few inches away primed to hit you. It’s a blind snap too. You don’t see your target because you’re occupied with the guy in front of you. You take a look before the snap, of course. A long snap goes about 14 yards on punts and you really have to whip it. On FGs and EPs you have to whip it about seven yards and your error tolerance is no more than a couple of inches. Long snappers use two hands and the rotation on the snap is critical on place kicks. The holder has to catch and set in a smooth motion because the kicker has already started his approach and will aim to strike the ball right where the holder pointed when they were setting up. The holder can adjust laces out if the rotation is a little off but only a little. Long snappers are protected these days but that’s only a very recent rule change.
I would ask @FranklinFldEBUpper to step in here because he’s forgotten more about this than I’ll ever know and it’s been many decades since I did it and not particularly well.

To start with, I have to say that you're giving me way too much credit. I'm not sure I know this stuff better than you. I just pay attention to it more than most fans do.

I think the reason why regular players are no longer used as ST snappers is that they're simply not as good as them. The game has become so specialized that long snappers at the pro level are guys who have devoted years and years of their life to doing that very specific thing. I don't think a "regular" player could simply learn it in an offseason or two. The kicking game has gotten so much better over the past two decades. Kickers with the efficiency (percentage of makes relative to distance sort of stuff) of guys like Morten Andersen would probably struggle to stay on rosters nowadays. I think SOME of that improvement can be partly traced to the specialization of snappers. The mechanics of the kick are just easier now. Heck, even twenty years ago or so, third team tight ends like Mike Bartrum were doing the job. That simply doesn't happen anymore because there are better options. Besides, isn't it risky as hell to be relying on a regular player during a game when that player could easily get injured? What would you do then? We saw Brent Celek snap a couple of times in emergencies and it wasn't pretty.

TLDR...snappers are too good now and regular dudes just won't be as good.

Comical that Daniel Jeremiah mocked a safety to eagles at 32. That’s not remotely happening

I have a feeling we're gonna see a lot of ridiculous mocks for us in the coming seven weeks. Since we're picking last, we're in that awkward position for mockers because they want to have their thirty-two guys. So they'll just stick a guy into that spot just so that they'll be able to claim they had that guy as a first rounder.

@FranklinFldEBUpper will be the one to tell me I’m wrong or right here, but Lovato really struggled the back half of the season.  Mann made some absolutely ridiculous snags and snap downs.  Not that Jake wasn’t in his own head, but part of the kicking issue seemed to be Lovato. Thankfully we didn’t need to punt much in the playoffs either, but he seemed to really be struggling with his placement.  I’d expect some competition for him this off season.

I noticed a decline in '23. Not huge but it was there. This year he was definitely erratic, especially later in the year. Thankfully he was pretty solid in the Super Bowl.

My guess is that he'll get another year and then they'll make a hard decision, one way or the other.

Daniels could very well be the first 70m+ QB in 2 years, need to extend Hurts well before that.

I don't think it will happen.  Could be wrong of course.

A restructure to save cap space could also happen. Think they address contract sooner than people expect. Again, I did state the 5 things there as unexpected moves. Going out on the limb. Howie will have to be very creative this offseason. This free agent market is going to be nuts and higher prices than we hope.

Definitely. It's all speculation. I'm speculating as well. Dont think many saw AJ Brown's extension last year either. I am trying to think like Howie in what he has done in the past. He zigs while everybody zags.
