Todd played LT in the preseason his rookie year. Tra Thomas didn’t play much PS. Once the season started Todd rode the bench. Somewhere in that year Tra got injured and Todd moved in at LT. When Tra came back they moved Todd inside since he demonstrated that he was one of the five best OL but he started at LT, which was where he played at Saginaw Valley State.

When he moved inside who did he displace?

Looking at potential Day 3 Guards

Connor Colby, Iowa

6'6" 310 lbs

Helped lead the way for Kaleb Johnson.

SCOUTING REPORT: SUMMARY

Connor Colby's lateral agility and proficiency in zone blocking schemes position him well for NFL offenses prioritizing movement and coordination. His experience across multiple offensive line positions adds valuable versatility, though his effectiveness may be limited in power-based rushing attacks. In pass protection, Colby demonstrates potential but needs refinement in his technique against more explosive NFL-caliber defenders.

At the next level, Colby's impact will likely be most significant in the run game, particularly in outside zone concepts where his ability to reach block and climb to the second level can be fully utilized. His performance in double-teams and understanding of blocking angles should translate well to the professional ranks. However, he may face a learning curve in adjusting to the speed and power of NFL interior defenders in pass protection.

All are very possible and need to think a little outside of the box.

I agree all are possible, and after due consideration the odd are overwhelmingly.

1) No

2) No

3) Why?

4) Unlikely

5) No.  Given Howie’s use of insurance to mitigate injury risk, he can extend with little  risk, and right now Jurgens would be negotiating from a position of weakness … and would welcome the personal financial security.

Here’s a question for you.  If you went to a casino an these were the five available prop bets, all with even odds, would you you bet any money on any of your five projected outcomes?

We don't know what the cost will be to trade or what his contract would look like. People are just scaring themselves out of it IMO

In what way is he already on the downward slope of his prime?

Career year for TFL and solo tackles. Top 4th year in combined tackles. Tied 2nd in his career sacks

Come on now, we can take a pretty good guess at what his contract will be, he'd be our most expensive D-lineman ever, we'd be looking at $105mill for three years at least. He isn't going to offer a contender discount, especially not when we're paying Bryce Huff $17.6mill per for producing bupkis.

Makes no sense for another year or two. His cap hits arent here yet

Definitely. It's all speculation. I'm speculating as well. Dont think many saw AJ Brown's extension last year either. I am trying to think like Howie in what he has done in the past. He zigs while everybody zags.

That's half the fun of this time of year. I generally look and post about the off-season 4 different ways:

-what I as an Eagles fan want to see. (for this year it's Baun, Williams, Burks, Rodgers and moving as far up in the draft as you can to get impact player)

-what are the most logical moves, even if it's not what I want. (Only 1 of the Eagles big 4 returns, they trade back)

-what could Howie do. (Out of left field moves no one sees)

-just for fun based on historical moves and perceived values (draft value chart values, past player trades and the returns etc.)

Looking at DJ’s top 50. This looks like an all-time meh draft.

Hunter looks like a great prospect, but Ward is a weak top QB, Abdul Carter is a weak candidate for the 1.1, Will Campbell has T-Rex arms. the WRs are fairly underwhelming. Looks like a meat an potatoes draft — OL, DT and, if character concerns check out, edge. There are lots of good TEs and RBs in the top 50, but that’s not really a great thing when looking at the strength of a class.

That's why I think it's best to target that player you want in the draft and you pay for him with your current draft assets. This roster doesn't have a lot of room to add a huge draft class. If they can bring back at least two of their defensive starter FA and two role player defensive players, a 4 man draft class and a strong UDFA class would be fine for me.

IDK. We have very little depth at OL, DL, and linebacker. TE, RB, CB and Safety are also potential areas of need.

Lb is damn thin. Corner is too but dont love this class so hope they bring back rodgers.

te and rb need depth.

im all for targeting guys that fit, but not a small draft class

You figure we’ll try to get Fred Johnson back for some depth, long-term it would be nice if Josh Simmons got within range… this class seems to be big guys who can’t move, solid guys w/o length, guys with the right measurables but a bit light and/or from lower levels of competition. Simmons has a nice blend of skills, but really only turned it on this year and then blew his knee (otherwise I think he’d definitely be out of reach with a more complete OSU resume).

Henderson is still my rb target but gotta

Go watch some Judkins now

I'm all for trying to trade our 1st rounder this year for a 1st next year and really load up for the 2026 draft with our potential comp picks..

But it isn't is it, he's going to want to set the market, Nick Bosa is on $34mill a year for 10 sacks a year, so your starting point is that plus one mill a year, anything else is a pipe dream.

It's not so much everyone else guessing as you pigheadedly refusing to look reality in the face imagining that Howie gets him to accept Josh Sweat money for a ring.

@FranklinFldEBUpper will be the one to tell me I’m wrong or right here, but Lovato really struggled the back half of the season.  Mann made some absolutely ridiculous snags and snap downs.  Not that Jake wasn’t in his own head, but part of the kicking issue seemed to be Lovato. Thankfully we didn’t need to punt much in the playoffs either, but he seemed to really be struggling with his placement.  I’d expect some competition for him this off season.

Mann was quietly excellent managing some of those snaps.  Underappreciated impact on the team.

As for OL, I can foresee the drafting a T in round 1 or 2. Its a glaring need to have in house. Fred Johnson is fine for what he is, but it needs an upgrade. If Becton stays, perhaps another G or C can be drafted.  Unclear at this point

I never want to see anyone fail…unless they go to the Cowboys, but Ward and Sanders are both incredibly unlikeable.

I feel like Ward’s PR team missed the mark with allowing so many interactions with Sanders.  He just comes off terrible and I see him as Ryan Leaf 2.0.

This 'glaring need for a tackle' comes up every draft and every draft my answer is the same, you don't draft projects in Round 1, if you draft a back up Tackle in round one you've drafted a thoroughly  average Tackle.

I don't really see the need to extend Jalen again. Keep that QB-trade optionality going.

If you don't project your first round pick to start by year 2 then it's not a good use of resources. Lane hasn't shown he's retiring so you'd need to get a tackle/guard which more often than not just turns into picking a guard.  At least DL splits snaps in year 1

Again you're just guessing and me pointing it out must have struck a nerve for some reason

When he gets traded for a lot of draft picks and signs some massive contract then come back and say you told me so. Though to be honest I won't really care as much as you about it. Good luck
