The last 2 years, he is a 10-12ish stats QB just on passing then he looses out big time to Hurts, Allen, Lamar, Daniels, and others with running factored in. The NFL does not care about 2018 and 2021 numbers. Dude is a SB sack and turnover machine who had the good fortune to face Shanahan 2x and get a slick field to stop a deadly speed rush.

BUT SBs!!!!  16 sacks, 7 picks, 6 fumbles (lucky bounces to only 1 lost)

  • Montana was 6 sacks, 0 picks, 2(0) fumbles
  • Kelly was 11 sacks, 7 picks, and 4(3) fumbles
  • Which of the two does Mahomes more closely resemble?

Mahomes looks like Marino after the decline... until he doesn't. We can revise this next year if he plays better.

Mahomes is not a top 50 NFL player right now but the 10th QB might be 62 or so.

He's top 10 for sure and top 5 likely at the QB position all-time but all-time has nothing to do with right now.

If we were pretending this was the 2023 offseason and counting 2018-2022 then he is up at the top with Rodgers and Aaron Donald.

The 2 weeks to the playoff runup was : That Eagles are better everywhere but Mahomes magic.

2 massive ref assist games and a Jim Kelly game is not magic. He's not making the SB next year and he's not facing Shanahan in the next 10 years.

On board with this. Been overrated the last couple of years. Based on reputation & the media and NFL offices fondling him. Also, Hurts should be in the conversation at this point with the Top 5 QB's in league. I'm still going to leave Mahomes in the Top 5 discussion, but giving him one more year to keep that spot.

Top 5 should be Hurts, Allen, Jackson, Burrow & Mahomes.

What is the obsession with TE Mayer? Is it because he has a very similar name as the movie villain? Maybe fans want to go to the games wearing Myars jersey with a Myers mask? The real Myers done nearly as much as the tight end on the football field so far. Now he's going to replace Goedert?

High 2nd round pick on a bad team. Only reason he's available is because they have Brock Bowers, who might already be TE1.

Yeah but he's not replacing Goedert. That's silly

No might about it. Bowers had 112 catches for 1200 yards and 5 TDs. He's not only TE1, he's their #1 option. Guy is a stud. Mayer was a highly touted TE coming out of ND. Would be more than happy to bring him in.

Hate to lose Goedert. Still a pretty good tight end. But has been underutilized here and with Barkley now here, he's weapon number 4. On top of it, good for a few missed games a year. This is one position to trim the budget, so we can pay the defense.  Howie clearly stated we are going to have to take money from one area of the team and shift it to another area. Think this is one of his ideas he had in mind. Didn't want to pay Ertz either when he had some gas left in the tank.

2 TD's in his career

This 'glaring need for a tackle' comes up every draft and every draft my answer is the same, you don't draft projects in Round 1, if you draft a back up Tackle in round one you've drafted a thoroughly  average Tackle.

I'm not saying draft a big project, but that depth at OT is dire.  The talent for OT drifts later in the draft, so at some point, the team have to address it - even if its 2nd round at pick 32. Not a hardship pick at that point and with Stoutland, potential for the right player to be at RG. We can't rely on Mailata and Lane staying that healthy  Like Fred Johnson for what he has done, but that's all the team has.

Bradshaw should've retired years ago. They need new blood on that show.

They've been adding new guys and IMO it's just not working

I think he's also available in part because he just hasn't been very good. Can blame his lack of production on a bad situation, but Bowers was in a bad situation and he had a record breaking year. There's a decent chance Mayer just stinks. He wasn't exactly dynamic in college. What percentage that is I can't say, but I've not seen the upside with him yet. His value should be like a 5th rounder. If it cost more than that, just go into the draft and get someone.

Both in his rookie year and lost his position this year. Goedert wasn't exactly a TD machine. 2 in 2024, 3 in 2023, 2 in 2022. Not going to judge Mayer on his rookie year and then taking a seat to Bowers. He's not a Pro Bowl TE, but he has talent.

Mayer is an upgrade at TE2. If you’re talking TE1 it’s a downgrade which might be ok if you’re moving cap to defense. But he’s not worth more than a 5

Gotta buy low on talented players on bad teams: Slay, Saquon, Becton, Baun, etc.

Damn.  That's cold.  Think he was a captain at the SB.

Nothing cold about it.  It was expected a long time ago.  He knew it.  He basically said it before the Super Bowl.

This is the business side, and his salary has a poison pill, placed there by Howie.

He was pretty damn good at ND. Brock Bowers is ELITE so I don't think it's necessarily fair to compare the two. Mayer would a be a solid addition. Agree, they shouldn't have to pay much for him though.

I don't care that much about top 5's from sports blather shows but yes, the decline is real:

2024 Reality: 16th in passer rating, 19th in ANY/A, 10th in completion %, 19th in low int %, 17th in TD%, 27th in yards per pass.

He was 12th in QB rushing yards and 12th in QB rushing TDs.

The counterpoint appears to be 8th in pretend feelings QBR and a 😄 from someone I keep on ignore.

If there's in fact "Multiple Teams Interested in Trading For .... " you're not actually buying low, though.  He's already entering Year 3 of a 4-year rookie deal, so you lose much of the benefit of the rookie contract.

Let's not make the same mistake we made after the last SB.

No it's not, it's so he can go get the bag somewhere.  Both parties already knew that he was going to free agency after this season, well in advance of this.  He could've taken a team friendly deal if he wanted to, but this way he can likely grab a decent 1 year payday somewhere next year for what he's already said is going to be his final season before retiring.

Yup.  The timing puts him on the market BEFORE free agency starts.   It gets him every opportunity to sign anywhere.

I don't watch much of the pre-game stuff, but when I do they're still trying to do the same old schticks that were decades old. Bradshaw can barely speak and is behind on highlights at halftime. Strahan was good then he left for other things. Gronk is a moron.

These shows try to get "characters" to be silly, loud, funny, etc. instead of getting people that are good on TV and give good analysis. I remember a Simpsons skit about how the pre-game is just a bunch of jokes and zingers

2 years of a rookie deal is still good!

Worked out well with Ronald Darby.

@NOTW Its a low quality bar but my only pregame requirement is no Michael Irvin screaming at me.

I rarely listen to the games. I put them on mute and listen to YouTubers casting the play by play.

When its not Eagles on Sunday then its Red Zone.

An industry where Greg Olsen is a superstar should be on mute.
