Honestly he should retire, he was dinged up in almost every game this year and it isn't going to get any better. Go out a champion, he's made enough money. Don't tarnish your legacy like Peters did, just getting hurt and collecting checks until you retire

This has probably been posted but I just saw it on a Cowboys boards Super Bowl thread and in case it hasn't been posted here, here it is.

Now is the time to get Baun signed.  Make it happen over the next 72hrs.

Imagine if Hurts went into this SB like Mahomes,

This isn't a slight at Hurts, be he wouldn't sniff the SB with no run game, a bad offensive line and his best weapon being an old TE on the verge of retirement.

Few QBs can drag an offense that poor to a Superbowl even with a good defense.

I’m hoping they can ink Rodgers to a team friendly deal then let him and Ringo compete for CB2. Maybe bring in another relatively cheap vet. That’s implying that Dejean is definitely staying in the nickel

I'm probably overthinking this one, but wouldn't the Eagles have been smart to sign Rodgers before cutting Slay. Doesn't this give Rodgers and his agent more leverage to ask for more? Then again, if Rodgers does that, the Eagles could say to him, fine, we'll just bring back Darius Slay at a discount.

I agree though, I'd love to see them sign Rodgers to a 2-3 year deal.

I think the FO is pretty content on letting everyone walk if it comes to that. Ringo is still here, so I don't think that gives Rodgers all that much leverage, plus the talk that Slay may even come back, which leads me to believe Slay is priority of Rodgers. Howie loves signing veteran corners to cheap deals too, so he always can go out and get another one.

Why do fans insist on players retiring before they want to? He wants to play one more season. Every player gets dinged up every season because ... football. For all the minor injuries Slay has had, he has never had a major one in his NFL career. He's still very capable of being a starter in this league and could potentially play at a Pro Bowl level still. But the most important thing to him is that there comes a day when a player will never be able to play professional football again and that day hasn't come yet. How does playing another season tarnish a legacy? Everything he has already accomplished will still be accomplished even if his next season is unremarkable. This whole idea of "going out a champ" really is strange. Should Nolan Smith retire just in case he doesn't win another one?

Go here: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MahoPa00.htm

Click on the 2018 season and click again on the 2022. Read the per 17 games line from the generated summary.

Now open another page with the same link but click on the 2023 and then the 2024 and read that 17 game per line.

Notice any differences?

How about best 5 year period in NFL history to 10th to 12th best QB?

I understand that he had a statistically down year.  I think that was a function of the offensive pieces around him.  Kelce looked not good most of the year.  They had a rookie WR and vets that were JAGs.They had big problems along their o-line all season.  It was as if he took the 2020 Eagles' offense to the Super Bowl.

The Birds pick at about the 1:27:00 mark.  I’m interested what the people think, and specifically who they would take if the board fell this way.

I don't think so.  Rodgers is a UFA either way.  So, he can go anywhere for whatever the market will bear.  The Eagles weren't bidding for his services against themselves, but against the entire league.

If the Eagles had been working on him to get an extension during the season, then I'd agree, or if he had a year left... but, since he's already reached free agency, there's no 'bargain' price available.   He'll get market value.

I agree. If someone will pay him to play and he wants to and his health permits, why not? If he gets joy and pleasure in playing, let him play. It's his decision.

It would be great to see this finished.  BUT, the question I have looking at it from the opposite perspective... what benefit would there be for Baun to sign now versus waiting for the start of the free agency period?   There's no benefit to signing early as I can see it.   He's going to test the market, and Howie can match anything he gets elsewhere.  But at this point, if I'm his agent, I don't let him sign anything before he hits the market.    It sucks for us, but I think that this will be over quickly.  We'll likely know what he is doing, likely before the tampering period ends.

He already knows more or less what his value is at that point so the incentive would be his if he really wants to stay as once you start talking to others things can get nutty.  Of course, if he wants to squeeze out that last million then start the bidding war.

He likely does.   But, with this being his only real free agent opportunity, I'll allow for him to maximize his earnings.  And so, I am not going to fret until the news breaks that he has signed elsewhere.   I trust that Howie knows the market, and that he wants to bring him back.  So, I feel confident it will work out, just not on the timeline we want.

I'm not fretting but it would be a lot smoother for everyone if he signed now.  Also, the longer it goes the more it hampers Howie with all other larger moves given the salary cap implications.

Agreed.  But, I think Howie has the basic structure already worked out and knows how to work around it.  He never boxes himself in completely.  He'll have the wiggle room he needs.

Measles spreading in Texas. High fives!

Gannon was Rodgers coach in Indy I believe.  He could be a spoiler on several of the FAs.  Or conversely he could be viewed as a guy pushing our comp picks better

It's pretty amazing how he's trying to downplay the QB who could retire now and get into the hall

Who’d they pick on this one?

They overlapped one year in Indy.  2020 was Gannon's last year in Indy as DB coach and Rodgers' rookie season in the NFL.
