This extension probably doesn't bode well for Becton and maybe Goedert. Not going to rehash this debate, it just is what it is. You can't pay every position top of the market on offense.

QB: 9th

RB: 1st

WR: 3rd, 11th

TE: 4th

LT: 6th

LG:1st

Center: probably going to be top 3

RG: only low contract on offense

RT: 2nd

God that sucks if we lost Becton to this

I think if you’re committing to Barkley like this you need to bring back Becton. If we are going to be a run heavy team, do it right.

Fill in the gaps on defense through the draft.

I don't understand extending Barkley at all. Want to see the contract details, but feels dumb.

Nah.  Barkley exceeded all expectations, not just in performance but in leadership.  This team always rewards that.

He's got 3 years left in him at a high level.  Nothing to worry about.

There goes the myth that Howie doesn't pay running backs.

And he's still 'underpaid' compared to value for skill position players.

Are you saying that Mahomes was mostly a product of 12+ superior players and without all those players he is not elite now?

Are we trying to make him elite in 2024 because POOR BABY?

He did not have a bad offensive line. That line has 3 all-world players. It was weird they played Thuney out of position but it was working for them.  This was not the 2021 Bengals or the 2008 Steelers or the 84-87 Eagles. They just franchise tagged their guard. They paid their center top dollar on merit. The other guard pretty much lives in the Super Bowl with 6 SB appearances in 9 years. The Patriots did not have bad offensive lines just because the Giants got to them in a couple SBs. Mahomes was sacked 6 times combined in his last 5 games before the SB.

That line held up fine to almost every other team they played over 19 games before Philly. They had 2 1st team all pros and 3rd in the pro bowl. Mahomes sack rate in 2024 was 5.83. The league average was 6.87. You don't get to excuse someone because POOR BABY had finally play a year without a top 5 offensive line. NOTE: His line was good in 2020. Tampa killed him because they got 3 injuries at the end of the season or in the playoffs.

How do you have no run game when your QB runs for 700+ and 10+ TDs and scares the hell out of the defense? Hurts would make most team's run game better regardless of line. The only running QB exception I can think of was Randall in the 80s but those backs were grade Z trash.  When we got Sherman and Walker, they thrived with Randall. Was Randall carried by Antone Davis and steroids shrinky dinks from Indy?

I bring this up every time people play the POOR BABY! card. It makes Randall the GoaT. POOR BABY! is not reality so Randall is not the GoaT.

Jalen Hurts would not get his team to the Superbowl with no WRs worth a damn, a lesser OL, no run game, a worse defense (albeit still good) and his only true weapon being Kelce at the end of his career.

I'm not saying Mahomes had an elite year, but the overwhelming majority of QBs, if not the rest of the league arent winning 15 games and making the Superbowl with that roster.

Your other incoherent ramblings about Jalen running the football and Randall don't address this issue and have nothing to do with what I said.

I don't care a lick about the Rams but I love what they did with Stafford.

He was making 27ish. He wanted 50. They sort of met in the middle at 40.

I think McVay joked that last time took 7 weeks, this took 3 days, next year should be 10 minutes.

Teams scramble to trade for the 32nd overall pick for a RB now so they can lock in that 5th year option.

Let the bidding war for Pick 32 commence...

Tbh i still think the chances that all 4 of baun, becton, sweat and Williams not being back is higher than most think. I still think the highest is at least 1. But i kind of feel like none is probably second highest in that scenario even though it’s low.

that said i don’t see the eagles paying 5 OL 10+ mil a year. I also think there’s a chance steen battles out a draft pick and/or veteran that’s released. Perhaps someone like seumalo who they Steelers might release (wouldn’t effect comp picks)

You don't actually say anything other that you have a random weird lame opinion based on hypotheticals in your own pocket universe.

The only problem I see is we are paying for one year of past production in the future.

He’s not likely to ever repeat that performance. He’s already 28 years old and has had some injuries.

If this is just guaranteeing him the money for this year and next year, that’s fine, but if it’s an actual contract extension it could pose some serious issues a couple years from now.

Gonna say "I told you so” re: the Barkley extension. I got chewed out for saying I fully expected that.

Two things.

1. Howie knows what he’s doing with the cap.
2. We just won the Super Bowl

Maybe, the wording is always ambiguous at best

Need the details on this one. Extending a RB into their thirties is a recipe for disaster.

Playing with some numbers, and my best guess is that he got 2 years, $41mm added for 2027-2028, but most of that is non-guaranteed. He was inline to get $29mm in cash the next 2 seasons, so we basically guaranteed that and $7mm more. If we cut him after 2026, then we'd have a roughly $31mm cap hit ($42.75mm cash paid over 3 years plus 9mm remaining gteed money less cap charges taken). Basically, feels like we are locked in for 2 years instead of 1, and then we have to restructure or post June 1 him after 2026.

Barkley deserved it. Should have been MVP

Travon Walker has come around... had he been drafted outside of #1, I'm not sure anyone would be complaining.

He also played on a stacked team. So the stats get spread out.

Not sure what to make of the Barley extension.

I am sure that they are going all-in on 2026 compensatory picks.  Williams, Sweat, and Becton will walk. Howie needs lots of guys on rookie deals to offset the dollars to stars.

Steen is ready to be the RG - we won all five games where he played 40+ snaps.  We will draft a quality DT at #32 who will be able to immediately contribute lining up next to Carter.  Not sure about the plan for Edge yet, but through my green tinted glasses I see Huff being a rotational contributor in 2025.
