Not to mention he's on his way to becoming the greatest WR in franchise history

Who’s better at this point? 3 years, 4000 yards, 2 SB appearances, and a champion

IMO he’s already passed Desean who only had 6500 despite his entire 2 term tenure here. It’s really just Carmichael at 8900. When does AJ pass him? At 6000? Less?

There's a few. That idiot Cowherd said some dumb sheet last week how the Eagles should trade him

That was the first one I saw and I will not watch anything that stupid. So I saw the headline but not the ravings.

RTK gave me possible context I was missing.

Holy crap when @NOTW is saying you need to give up you know you're done

I thought the Eagles had the better team and could beat anyone in the NFL if they played their A game on both sides of the ball, from A-Z.

That said, the Chiefs won 17 games this past season.  I'm not sure what would happen if you put Hurts on the Chiefs this past Super Bowl.  I know (with enough practice/familiarity) with an offense,, Hurts has been a proven winner.

Mahomes is one of the best (if not the best) QB's in the NFL

That said - I'm not sure how folks didn't take note (because people have meltdowns here every time Hurts does it) - Mahomes wouldn't even give himself 2 seconds in the pocket during the Super Bowl  As soon as he saw any type of pressure, he would immediately run outside the pocket.

The thing about having as much talent as Mahomes has and having the ability to play hero ball  almost every game - with 3 Super Bowl titles - well, you're going to continue to play hero ball if that's what works for you.  It has gotten to the extent that a large amount of Mahomes' passing plays are designed for him to run outside of the pocket.  Any Reid has tweaked the offense and adapted it to what Mahomes feels most comfortable with.

The problem is - when you run into a defense like ours, in the Super Bowl - there are only so many adjustments you can make.   If the majority of your passing plays, offensive line blocking schemes, etc has Mahomes running out of the pokcet on passing plays, it's very difficult to immediately go back to running primarily drop back, in the pocket,  passing plays.    Mahomes has done it so much - and it's beginning to look almost like an Achilles heal for him - that even when they run regular passing plays, his first instinct is to scramble.   That's why you see him making so many shovel/under handed passes -cbecause he realizes he took off too soon when he should have hit dump off/slant/crossing route - so he neutralizes his mistakes with the underhanded shovel passes.  We all say "WIOW!" but the reality is, the vast majority of the time he does that is because he should have hit a receiver before he took off.

So knowing that and knowing the type of QB Hurts is - I have have no hesitation in saying Hurts would have done fine - especially after winning 17 games and with a coach like Andy Reid who would have adapted the offense to Hurts' strengths - the same way he has done for Mahomes.

I can only hope that the Hurts naysayers will one day understand what Jalen Hurts brings to the table as the Philadelphia Eagles QB - 100% clutch, ice in his veins, throws an elite deep ball, can make every throw, hits first down runs every game, elite at short yardage.QB sneaks, WINS more games than any other NFL QB (tied or 1 off from Mahomes) since he's been a starter - 2 Super Bowl Appearances and an SUPER BOWL CHAMPION - all in his first five years.

Tbh with mahomes the biggest issue the chiefs had prior to the Super Bowl (really much of the year) was their OL. I said going into that game i felt much more confident winning the game and stopping the chiefs offense then 2 years ago. Imo OL wasnt as bad as it was back when they lost to the Bucs. Frankly i could see it if that chiefs team lost to Bucs were healthy it’s better. But they were decimated by injury along the oline going into the Bucs game. This team just had two guys that likely shouldn’t be starting and thuney is much better at guard than tackle.

what is really surprising to me is how Andy allowed his OL to get to the point it particularly at tackle. If thuney stays at guard then having thuney, creed and smith is pretty good interior. Both Taylor and whoever else they threw at T before thuney got moved out were not good.

imo i think KC’s WRs are fine when rice comes back with worthy. Tight end they need to find kelce’s replacement. Pacheco needs a compliment but really their biggest issue is both tackle spots if they keep smith.

I knew you'd hate this😅

I have an open mind.  I never thought a 1980's style running team with a feature back, top defense, and a low volume opportunistic passing offense could win a superbowl in 2024.  And they did it.

They defied the odds and blazed their own trail there.

Now they are venturing further down this tree limb by betting on the longevity of Barkley.  Yep, makes my head spin that they are building around and betting on the longevity of a RB.

But, this path just yielded a superbowl.  No sense turning around.

Its a good discussion to have and I don't really have an opinion on it yet as it stands.

Its like Foles vs Jaws/Randall/McNabb. He definitely burned bright but not for long  (yet for AJ who won't slow down for a while)

The Saquon vs Shady/Westbrook/Montgomery might be just around the corner after 1 year.

Mentioned last offseason they needed to either extend him or look to move him within the next 2 years. Thats the time when any team wanting him should’ve tried. Frankly they would’ve had to be blown away by a ridiculous offer to do it then. At this point it’s not happening for a multitude of reasons

If he has another 1k plus season with 8 or so tds next year, I'll say he's surpassed Carmichael

I tend to agree.  And Reid tweaked the offense so that it shouldn't have affected them that much.  But when you have young, strong speed-balls at Edge like the Eagles do - who can get to your QB fast -  even after he leaves the pocket, you're going to run into problems - and that's basically what happened.

I'm surprised he still has a show and people watch

Oh boy here we go. As you can imagine the comments thinking this means he is joining the Eagles...while one person thinks it means he's joining the 49ers?

Tbh i thought they’d have been better off having thuney, creed and smith be the interior. Just help the crap out of the two tackles all game. At least the interior would matchup with the eagles DTs significantly better. Instead thuney wasn’t good enough at LT so that was a loss. you were a negative inside along the interior. Basically set yourself up to get beat inside and outside

Fair enough. I haven’t really watched the guards from this class.

He's big but not explosive, at least in what I've seen. He had the slowest 40 and slowest 10-yard split of all the OL at the combine. From a distance and acknowledging my towering ignorance, I think he's a bust.

The Eagles were ready to move on from Slay in 2023.  He was ready to sign with the Baltimore Ravens.

"Baltimore offered way more money,” Slay said. "And I’m like, ‘I just came off the Super Bowl run. Go chase the bag.’”

Then Dom DiSandro called: "Slay, we need you,” DiSandro said.

"Dom, he’s one of the dudes, he calls me and he’s like, ‘I need you.’ Because he’d do it for my family’,” Slay said. "He made it right.”

Slay stayed for two more seasons, won the Super Bowl.

Brown is the perfect WR for a QB like Hurts. If you’re going to trade anyone, it’d be Smith. He’d be more successful in an offense with a pocket QB that required precision based routes.

Wait where did the discussion about trading our WRs come from? And why?

Nothing new

Why didn't Nolen work out at the Combine?

Sure everyone wants to get paid. Not everyone does. Howie has a history of taking care of his players, extending them, giving them bonuses, etc. Players want to come here, players sign extensions to stay here even if they could get more money elsewhere.

They extended AJ Brown last year a couple years early. Which players complained and said they wanted more money?

They extended AJ Brown after he completed two seasons. I can't remember anyone getting extended with multiple years left after 1 season.

RTK posted some Boston podcasters wishing it and made fun of Pats fans for continuing to think that will happen.

Patriots fans wanting AJ Brown is hilarious. I don't think we'd accept 2 1sts for him.

I don't think this SB was a revenge game. It was about their team winning and not about another team but...

You saw Siri just savoring counting off the sacks after those zero sack shirts in 2022.

I would not be surprised if the Eagles line wanted to express some feelings about that to Mahomes in a personal manor.
