They extended AJ Brown after he completed two seasons. I can't remember anyone getting extended with multiple years left after 1 season.

Well he was basically the MVP and broke records. How many players did that after their 1st season? It also created cap space.

Why do we care so much? The player community seem happy for him. The media are even celebrating it as a good move.

Wait where did the discussion about trading our WRs come from? And why?

The Pats are apparently trying to trade for Brown. It would just be a boneheaded move on both sides.

Hypothetically, what would it take? The only player I can think of that the Eagles may be interested in on that roster is Christian Gonzalez. Assuming he’s healthy?

It would also take lots of draft capital on the Pats end. Stupid to give up multiple high picks for a WR when you need so many pieces to even compete.

Tbh i thought they’d have been better off having thuney, creed and smith be the interior. Just help the crap out of the two tackles all game. At least the interior would matchup with the eagles DTs significantly better. Instead thuney wasn’t good enough at LT so that was a loss. you were a negative inside along the interior. Basically set yourself up to get beat inside and outside

I think they were lulled into a sense of security because the 5 teams they played with that lineup before the SB did not have the horses that Philly has or they just did not have the gameplan to exploit Thuney and Caliendo. If Andy got a rematch tomorrow, Thuney would most likely be at Guard.

I wasn't surprised they started that way but I was surprised they did not switch it up at halftime (or sooner)

Oh boy here we go. As you can imagine the comments thinking this means he is joining the Eagles...while one person thinks it means he's joining the 49ers?

The Eagles emoji comes from where he went to college. And he's been using it all the time. Nothing to see here.

Gotta have Howie Vision. Barkley move a great move and a tone setter for free agency. Free agents may come in at a slightly lower price, but they know if they perform they get paid. Getting excited about what's to drop. Unconventional! Howie gonna zig while everyone zags. Always ahead of the other GM lemmings out there. There is a plan!

It also helped that we didn’t have F’ing Gannon.

Nobody knows if it created space because no one even has the details. it's all guesses at this point.

Who actually cares? All I did was say one line that it COULD create a situation where other players want to revisit their deal now. That's it.

The truth won't stop twitter fans!

AJ Brown changed his profile pic from Kobe Bryant to Tom Brady and some fans thought that meant he wanted a trade away from the Eagles.

I’m still shocked Reid allowed his OT position to get to the point it has. He was here when we dealt for peters and having Thomas/runyan. Saw what happened when Winston justice wasn’t good enough. They’ve had opportunities to fix it especially when they dealt hill to get draft capital. It should’ve never gotten to the point of where thuney had to move out there. IMO they had to franchise smith cause they can’t afford to lose any of thuney, creed and smith with how bad their OTs are.

He sounds like Mr Hurley from Three's Company when his voice cracks.

A guy like Nick Wright just insanely loves his Chiefs and has been given way too much positive feedback.

BTW, I f you have not watched the Troll Job Wright's co-hosts did on him SB Monday, its a classic.

Cowherd just thinks he is right about everything. Its not about a topic, he acts as if he is more highly evolved than everyone else. He's really big on the Falcons were the 2nd best team in 2017... sorry, I mean the 2024 Rams because a playoff game was close.

It could. But it didn't when they extended AJ, Smitty, Dickerson, Lane, etc. over the years. And I think Howie would handle it with any player who might complain. The core players are locked up, some are about to be.

Players want to come here, and sign extensions to stay here instead of taking more money elsewhere so I'm not worried about paying Barkley. Also various people on twitter saying it's saving cap money but we'll know for sure eventually.

I really want baun back. But the epic meltdown that would happen on the EMB would at least make losing him somewhat entertaining.

Welp. No idea what happens next. In all of my roster predictions and scenarios I've run through my head, discussed with others on here, none of them included extending Barkley. This is why the off-season is so fun. Who knows what Howie is working on. Does the added cap space help bring back their own guys? Is he gearing up for a trade and contract extension?

He's big but not explosive, at least in what I've seen. He had the slowest 40 and slowest 10-yard split of all the OL at the combine. From a distance and acknowledging my towering ignorance, I think he's a bust.

Interesting. We really do emphasize athleticism on the OL, and freakish physical traits in general, so if he’s that slow it’s a non starter.

I still think we bring Becton back. Almost our entire offense is in the middle of their prime, with the exception of LJ and Goedert. I think Howie tries to keep this group together for the next 3 years to grab another ring.

RTK posted some Boston podcasters wishing it and made fun of Pats fans for continuing to think that will happen.

The Pats should be making deals to bring in Justin Tucker and Deshaun Watson.  They can fly down to Florida with Kraft for all the physiotherapy they want, without consequences.

Brown is the perfect WR for a QB like Hurts. If you’re going to trade anyone, it’d be Smith. He’d be more successful in an offense with a pocket QB that required precision based routes.

Agreed. That being said neither is going anywhere. Both are Studs.

All these starters. Trading Goedert + letting Becton walk can off-set some of this...

They drafted Suamata(2nd) and Morris(3rd) and so far they are not very good.

They have been trying to replace Orlando Brown the last 2 years and DJ Humphries wasn't the answer.

I think letting Brown go was a cap decision.

I could see them wanting Ronnie Stanley but they will have to get in line.

The other side of the argument is that says the league notices the Eagles taking care of their players. Some have contrasted it with how the Bengals are handling things. Players want to sign here, players want to extend here vs taking more money elsewhere.

I don't really understand why this conversation is carrying on at this point. No one is worried about attracting free agents. No one is worried about retaining players. No one is worried about anything. I simply said it's something that could happen in the future with talent that is unhappy with their deals. NFL Teams, including Howie, do not revisit multi-year deals after one year and that is the reason why. We'll see what happens, if anything.

The cap space saving stuff is just people regurgitating something that never made sense anyway based off an old tweet from March 2024 that the person who posted it changed it after the fact. The tweet below is a lot of what @vikas83 also predicted.

There's no correlation between what he's capable of doing on the field right now at 28 and when/how/what his decline will look like...which is unknowable, despite whomever may want to argue to the contrary.

Bell, Westbrook, Chris Johnson, Terrell Davis, Jamal Lewis, Shaun Alexander...studs who lost it fast at that age.

AP, Chris Henry...kept it going.

Just because Barkley may be better at his peak than any of them doesn't mean his decline will be more favorable.

Not with an attitude like that!

He's more Barry Sanders or Walter Payton than he is Bell, Westbrook, etc.   I trust him to stay healthier longer.   And if he holds 3 more years... that's going to get him to 30.  He's not going anywhere, and if he gives us 3 more seasons of 1600+ yards all-purpose... we're good.
