The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Pretty remarkable.

I'm surprised Baun got that much.

I remember two months ago people were saying below $10M.

ESP said it a couple weeks ago.  Idiot.

I was worried for awhile. SUPER happy he broke tradition because we desperately needed to keep Baun

I've been as critical as anyone over the years... but the reality is that Howie learns from his experience.  He doesn't live by a single code (like Banner did with his ubiquitous 30 rule that forced him to be an ass and allowed Dawkins to walk to Denver over almost nothing), Howie actually bends his rules a bit for extraordinary circumstances.  Baun qualifies as extraordinary circumstances.

Howie is smart.

Hmmm... that looks like $17M AAV, and more than Patrick Queen (the floor I expected).

Howie SZN is the best SZN

I thought the post-season was pretty good this year.  🤷‍♂️

Based on Baun cap hit, one of Becton or Williams can still happen. But but but....may have to sacrifice Burks or Rodgers. Or both. This is slippery territory. Howie likes to have cash on hand for the low cost FA gems after this initial wave. In order to do so, one of Goedert or Davis is getting traded. Or both.

Very surprised that Howie paid that much for Baun. Special player though.

Now get Becton done next.

Love that Baun is back! I haven’t been this happy since Barkley re-signed!

Agree. What it came down to was that the Chiefs did not have five competent OL. No matter how they juggled, they leaked somewhere. They were outmatched in at least two places on almost every snap, even when they kept seven in to block. How bad was it? Even though Thuney was hopeless at tackle, he was better than anyone else they had. Well, except for Smith, who had primary responsibility for blocking Carter.

Yup.  Even with 7, they couldn't block 4.  Sweat beat a double team instantly with Kelce and Pacheco.  When the OL can't win at the LOS, you have no shot.

To be fair this change was recent. Howie was stuck in the ways of don't pay a RB or LB for a long time

Baun just did happen… 😉 I still think Becton is back and I think Rodgers too. There will be more contract extensions and restructures like I’m sure Goedert.

I'd love if Becton came back, but I do think he's replaceable. He was the weakest player on the OL and I do think it would behoove them to have a cost controlled guy there. Not just for the cap this year, but to be able to make a run at someone else down the road whether it's later this offseason or next offseason. They can find a quality RG in the draft. And we still need to see what happens with the Steelers and Seumalo. If he gets cut he could be an option as well. He'd probably be cheaper than Becton. Look at Cappa's contract as a barometer.

That's awesome. That was my #1 priority for them. I'm good with whatever other moves they make.

Yup.  That was easily move #1.

Next steps
- Re-sign Rodgers
- Get 3 comp picks for Milton, Sweat, Becton

I think they let Rodgers test the market and sign him for cheap if he's still out there after a week or two.

This is the single-season RB touches leaderboard. The chart doesn’t include playoff touches, so you don’t see Barkley on it. Barkley had something like 470-480. He’d be the oldest player on this list, and his game is predicated by elite athleticism. That’s a concern. People can discount it by saying a lot of his yards came on untouched long runs. That’s not the issue. It’s total touches.

Total touches isn't a cause.  It's carries.  Really, I think the issue is staying injury free.

About $28mm in dead money if he completes the contract hits in 2028.

Weakest one on our historic line. I’d like to have him back.

Baun was near irreplaceable on this team. Had to have him back. Probably won’t pay Burks tho at this point unless his market bottoms out.
