Baun was near irreplaceable on this team. Had to have him back. Probably won’t pay Burks tho at this point unless his market bottoms out.

Baun strikes me as the type of guy who’s just a natural born leader too. Type of guy well respected by everyone.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Baun just did happen… 😉 I still think Becton is back and I think Rodgers too. There will be more contract extensions and restructures like I’m sure Goedert.

Ha. Corrected that error. Meant Williams.

Long term, Dean may be the collateral damage of Baun getting a long term deal. I'll ride with Baun, Burks, Trotter and BVS though. It all worked out I think. Don't trust Dean staying healthy. Like Burks length as well.

A couple of things I've just come to grips with....when it comes to the cap, f it...I trust Howie and his team to do the voodoo they do.  The other, mock drafts are about as useful as boobs on a bull, can't do anything with 'em!!

We should assume Dean is not playing in 2025.

My guess is Howie is seeing player pay inequities and sees that the RB and LB impact pay per contribution is better priced than DL right now. I expect a lot of young DL to balance cap

I was also worried because of Howie's comment. Made it seem like he wasn't going to give big contracts out and rely on the young guys. Lots on here were okay with that route too

Howie raising RB and LB markets so that others drop for him

Also, the rush plan was to close up the gaps for Mahomes to escape through the pocket.  I think they wanted to collapse the edges and have Mahome step up into the DT's.  So I am not sure the interior being fixed would have changed the outcome.

I don’t think their problems would’ve been solved by doing that. However, I think it’s a better gameplan than what they went with and the results they had shown in the run game over the time they made the switch and with the strength being the interior DL of the eagles. they created three holes instead of the two holes they had already as thuney was not solving the problem at LT. Plus, their interior of their offensive line is one of the best in the league when Joe thuney playing guard. I trust them to hold up more then having thuney play LT which he is not great at, a bad LG and bad rt.

keep your interior offensive line together as its your biggest strength on the OL. your tackle spots are still an issue, but I at least have comfortability knowing I’m better running the football when those three are my interior and I trust them to hold uP. Instead, I had to worry about my interior holding up with caliendo and  my tackles holding up.

Another thing added to this, when Fran Duffy said their running game took a big hit when they moved thuney out to left tackle, he wasn’t wrong. Their running game really struggled. When they had those three in the interior, they were solid to good. They weren’t great, but they were good. You had to at least respect that they could run the football and be effective. I would think and bet the Eagles probably had some the same analytics that Fran Duffy pointed out about the running game. So they weren’t overly concerned or even worried about chiefs trying to run the ball. Not having to be concerned or worried about the chiefs running game is a nice dynamic for the eagles

Yeah same. This was the only move I wanted to see happen, anything else I’ll trust Howie’s vision

I was hoping this meant Baun. I just refreshed Profootballtalk and yelled loud enough to get the dogs barking.

Its a great day to be an Eagles fan. Congrats to Zack!

I'd love if Becton came back, but I do think he's replaceable. He was the weakest player on the OL and I do think it would behoove them to have a cost controlled guy there. Not just for the cap this year, but to be able to make a run at someone else down the road whether it's later this offseason or next offseason. They can find a quality RG in the draft. And we still need to see what happens with the Steelers and Seumalo. If he gets cut he could be an option as well. He'd probably be cheaper than Becton. Look at Cappa's contract as a barometer.

Becton is $15M a year or more right now. Can't see how you pay him $15M and Jurgens about the same & maintain fiscal responsibilty. Look at the Chiefs, they had to sacrifice Thuney to make room for cap space and only have 2 reliable linemen now. 1 or 2 have to work cheap.

They're purely recreation until about a week before the draft.  At that point you can see each team's roster going into the draft and do some kind of assessment what the construction needs to be for the next 4-5 years.

Ha -- I've never Tweeted in my life, and never will.

Plus, I was too lazy to look up the minimum salaries and just used $1.5mm for each year since it would be close enough.

Next steps
- Re-sign Rodgers
- Get 3 comp picks for Milton, Sweat, Becton

Gotta keep Becton and give Jurgens a new deal. Makes no sense to double down on Barkley and not keep the that indomitable wall in front of him.

Seeing the Dak restructure just made me realize we haven't heard from @Joe Ball lately. Really appreciate his insight and what he contributes to the boards.
