I'm going to add another priority for this off season. A true RB who can spell Barkley. Not a third down back or game is out of hand back but a we are playing one that can keep the sticks moving, no breakaway speed necessary, something very much like Gibbs and Montgomery. Who is the Montgomery for the Birds? Wanna have 3 years of Barkley with spring in his legs.

I’m ASU biased but I love Cam Skattebo. He doesn’t measure well speed wise, but if you just watch him play he’s ferocious. I’d be good with Saquon/Shipley/Skat next season. He will immediately become a fan favorite if he has any sense of success.

I don’t see Howie paying 30+ million to a new player. I don’t think even he’s that good to manufacture cap. Any stud DL that comes to the team will want a new deal now

Want and need are two different things.  If the pros of waiting for a year outweigh the cons, and Howie does a good job of explaining why that is the case, then Hendrickson and his agent should see the merit of escaping This terrible Bengals defense.  More money and better playing conditions.  It is a win for Hendrickson.

Hunt fit that 3rd round developmental model.  However, Fangio has demonstrated that he does not fear either rookies or developmental players.  What round is Porter projecting to go in?

Porter seems to be a second rounder. It’s weird though — he has top 5 physical traits in the entire draft, but his age and rawness will turn some off. I wouldn’t be shocked if he goes in the bottom half of the first or drops into the third.

He’s a real wild card. Guys that big should not be that fast and fluid. He’s got ball skills too. But he’s a recent convert from WR so there’s a lot of work he needs to do and he doesn’t have the benefit of being 20 years old like Ringo was when he was drafted.

My guess is someone falls in love with the sheer physical talent and he goes top half of the second round.

Fair enough. I could see it. I’m OK with it, but don’t love it.

You loved it when we were discussing Hurts and QB succession. 😉😉😉

The stiff hips will scare off Man teams.  He is pretty much a Zone corner based on the little I have read.

Let me see if i can get it to work this time

There was another but it didn’t work again

It’s a tough ask to have a RB who will get 2-3 carries a game but is a quality 15-20 carry a game guy if you need it. It feels like the bar for this team has become every starter needs to be proven good and every backup is ready to step in. I don’t think any team has ever achieved that

Yeah — totally rich man problems.

But that’s where we are. We have almost all of our starters locked up, and since we are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champs, you look at the depth and the question becomes less about development and more about "can this guy fill in if the starter is injured and help win a Super Bowl?”

I don’t think we want to spend money on that for RB, and this draft class is really good. I think lightening the load on Barkley would help too, so adding a good RB prospect worthy of getting more than a couple of touches makes some sense even without injury.

Because of money and the trade value a QB has. We are talking about first round picks not third round comp picks… and saving $50M a year.

I don’t see stiff hips at all. He’s fluid. A true unicorn of a physical specimen for CB.

I would be more worried about his tackling and run defense. He's not good there. Is that an issue of inexperience or heart? He was a WR before, he wasn’t good in college, and now he has to tackle Deebo twice a year.

Trading for Garrett or even Hendrickson is an exciting thought, but drafting a couple cheap & young DL in a stacked DL draft is the more sustainable move

One year at $16M, then a 3rd round Comp Pick in return for him walking in 2026 Free Agency.

Thanks for all of your feedback on my posts. Will keep it all in consideration and make sure I pass it on to Howie.

Jamaal Williams is about to turn 30, but I'd love to have him on this team. Would be a great veteran backup to Saquon. Shipley is the young buck. Can still add a RB in the draft if the value is there compared to other need positions.

That is an interesting statement.  Care to elaborate on why that would be true?

Do I really need to explain this to you?

If we lose Sweat and Williams, and don't sign a single edge rusher or DT we will have the following:

Edge - Smith, Hunt, Huff

DT - Carter, Davis, Ojomo

If Carter or Smith were to get hurt we would have a terrible DL and our depth would be questionable with everyone healthy as it is.

Where did @TEW say "don’t sign a single edge at with  or DT?  Your imagination is running away with you. TEW has been explicit over and over again aboutt using the Draft to replenish Edge and DT.

Glad to share.  Not saying I am right.  It makes perfect sense to me, but makes no sense to others.  This "silly season” is a real blessing for a "more is more” possibilities-oriented nerd like me.

Although there clearly is a time and place for it, "less is more” is a real nightmare for me.

First of all, why are you white knighting for him. That's just downright creepy and weird.

Second, he said he would rather re-sign Becton than do everything else I listed which included signing a DT, Edge rusher, and Rodgers.

Third, you don't go into the draft desperately needing anything.

Fourth, the chances of the Eagles drafting two rookies on the DL who have half the impact (let alone the full impact) that Quinyon and Dejean had this season for the secondary  is highly unlikely. I am all for drafting an edge rusher and DT with the depth that this draft has to offer, but they will need to address those positions in free agency as well and with Steen waiting in the wings it's a far greater need than re-signing Becton.

Good thing you aren't in charge. Our DL would be one injury away from being total garbage.

Not at all. This is one of the deepest DL classes in a while.

EDGE — Smith, Hunt, Huff, early draft pick, mid round pick

DT — Carter, Davis, Ojomo, early draft pick, Booker

Blindly counting on two draft picks to not only work out, but have a significant impact as rookies is beyond foolish. Quinyon and Dejean are the exception, not the rule. Not only that, our first two picks are 32 and 64, not 22 and 40.

Huff couldn't even dress for the SB and Booker is a fringe roster player. If we add nothing to do the DL in free agency we are a Smith or Carter injury away from being terrible there.

High draft picks can absolutely contribute.

And your argument about one injury applies to the OL as well. If you let Becton walk, and promote Steen, who’s to say Keegan can play if Steen or Dickerson gets hurt?

We already have to draft a backup OT. Do you want to end up like the Chiefs in the Super Bowl?

I’d much rather have proven depth on the OL than DL, given most depth is going to come from the draft for both units. Becton is a pro bowl caliber player and a key player to our entire style of offense. We are already 3 deep at both DT and DE with proven depth, but only have one guy of any confidence on the OL.

On top of that, Becton is a proven commodity, as opposed to a projection.
