Yep, either trade up for a high caliber prospect or trade back for picks in 2026.

The roster is way to loaded to waste draft picks on players that are low ceiling.

Fatal conceit…success breeds it

You need those depth guys for special teams too

Hope you made a claim against the 3M class action, if applicable.

That was after my time. In my case, it happened in Basic Training (summer of 1988 at Fort Jackson in SC). We were out on bivouac for a week or 10 days of training. Part of the training was the high and low crawl, which afterward (that night), was a mock battlefield 'invasion' on the Night Infiltration Course, followed the next night by live fire range training with tracers and in full MOPP gear (battlefield protection against chemical warfare... gas masks and such) similar to this image, but we didn't have Kevlar helmets:

(Long story, put in a spoiler box for those not interested lol)

Spoiler

The low crawl training pit was about a football field in length, filled with mulch and sawdust. You have to crawl on your belly (as low to the ground as you can get) with your head in the sawdust as if there was machine gun fire over your head and if you pick your head up, you die.

During the afternoon training, there was no machine gun fire, so no need for ear plugs. We kept the ear plugs in a little case hanging  from our web gear suspenders. Well, as you can imagine, crawling on your belly could cause things like that to break off and get lost in 6 inches of sawdust over a 100 yard pit. That's what happened to mine and several others in my platoon.

When I noticed they were gone, I told my drill sergeant, but we were so far away from our supply room that he wasn't going to send a truck back to the company area just for 8 to 10 pairs of ear plugs. So we did without them for all of our live fire training.

The night of the "Night Infiltration Course", we were low crawling across the 'battlefield' with M-60 fire going over hour heads (probably 20 feet above us), with explosions going off like you'd see in a war movie, and one of those explosions went off RIGHT next to me. I was so close to it that in a real war, had that happened, I wouldn't be here right now... which I actually don't think I'd ever thought of in those terms until right now lol.

That was so close that it 'muted' my hearing so an extent. The next night we were on the M-16 night fire range, all live ammo, of course. So two nights in a row without hearing protection. By the time we were finished, my hearing was so diminished that I really thought that it was permanently damaged to the point of hardly being able to hear. I told my drill sergeant when we were back at the barracks, and he sent me to the hearing clinic where they did hearing tests and such and detected some hearing loss but by that time, it was getting better and eventually got back almost to normal. But I was left with tinnitus.

The Night Infiltration Course was really cool and fun to do, but that's where the damage began.

This image seems like a shorter distance than what we covered, but that was in 1988 and in the moment, it may have just felt like it was a longer distance and they're crawling in the same direction as the machine gun fire, we were crawling toward it and those 'explosion pits' seem to have a larger barrier around them, because I was right next to it when it went off.

I'd never heard of 'tinnitus' before until 15 or 20 years ago watching an episode of 'Shatner's Raw Nerve' where he interviewed Leonard Nimoy and they spoke about it. I was like.. "That's what I have!" It was just always there (since my incident). I didn't know it had a name.

Come to think of it, I was at the range once at Fort Hood without hearing protection too. Ear plugs were a thing back then, but they weren't necessarily thought of as a necessity.

These are fun scenarios to play around with. My only question is why shouldn't we believe Howie can get more for McKee? AJ Feely was traded for pick 35. He only had 5 starts under his belt and 8TDs. McKee has one start and 4 TDs. He's about to turn 25 and is under control for 2 more years.

We've talked about one team taking the chance on game manager, cost controlled QBs. That's what McKee could be for a team. If the Rams trade Matt Stafford as has been rumored, McKee could be the kind of QB to keep them afloat while their next QB is found, or maybe he shows he can be their QB.

Rams, Browns, Jets, Steelers, Raiders, Dolphins are all teams that I think could be looking for an inexpensive QB. I think Howie gets more than we think for McKee if he's the one they decide to move.

McKee's one game was against a defeated Giants team in the last game of the season who were not looking to win either to increase their own draft value. He threw two TD's that game. The other two TD's were against a beaten Cowboys team. While it was a good look for McKee, it's a minuscule sample size. I can't recall who AJ played against but it was 5 games started and I doubt it was against teams much worse or in a worse situation than this years G-men. The two years of cost control definitely helps. Maybe I'm wrong but I just am not seeing a straight up 2nd rounder for McKee.

If we're going to draft a DL in RD1, give me Darius Alexander. Go back to the Toledo well.

NFL thinks Hunt is out there killing people apparently.

I had a fellow employee that worked directly for me for a while.  He was an avid hunter.  Hunted some with a bow.  (Took down a bull elk with one arrow.)  Worked out of Sacramento.  Our office there was right off the river.  Called him one Monday and asked how his turkey hunting went.  Said he nailed a turkey but the arrow went right through it and he couldn’t find the wounded bird.  (Felt real bad about it.)  A couple weeks later, he sends me a picture of his 4x4 in the office parking lot.  There are wild turkeys perched on his truck.  In my empathetic moment, I suggested maybe that bird he shot had friends.  That kind of spooked him.  Next time I went out to see him, I parked my rental next to his truck which had a wild turkey perched on the back bed.  Snapped a photo and went inside and showed it to him.  Told him the birds were still looking for revenge.

Later that year, going into fall season, I get a call from him one Monday.  Wanted to let me know before I heard it elsewhere that he had the cops called on him that weekend.  For practice he crawled onto his roof and was shooting practice arrows (no arrowheads) into his targets in his backyard and someone (probably Goodell) called the cops on him.  (I still chuckle to myself imagining him explaining himself to the cops.). I am trying to be a good boss and tell him there is nothing to worry about but I couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. I told him it sure sounded like the turkeys were taking revenge to the extreme.

I wonder who we will get as QB coach assuming Patullo is the guy. Could see Leftwich or Pep Hamilton.  Not sure of ties to Sirriani

I could see Reich coming back. Maybe someone from the college ranks.

Nick Nash, WR, San Jose State

6'3" 195 lbs

Should be there late RD4-RD5

He is a guy I hope Howie looks at if their goal is to add WR depth this draft. He immediately comes in and overtakes Stone hands Johnny.

Like him as well.

I’ll be impressed if Sirriani goes with someone other than Patullo. Seems like every SB we lose OC and the. Internal candidate fails. Maybe Patullo is different but history isn’t good

WR3 production with Jalen Huts at QB will probably never be an issue of how good the player is but how often Hurts goes to WR3.

That is where the OC needs to come into the picture calling plays where WR3 is the primary or #2 target

Reich for QB coach I mean. I don't think he'd be brought back as OC.

One name I could see getting the OC job over Patullo is Josh McCown. I think the Eagles view him as a top coaching prospect. He's probably a few years away though, but maybe they'd like him so much they'd give him the job. I think him getting it over Patullo though wouldn't sit well with Patullo. Scheelhaase is also a name they were linked to before.

Remember for OC they have to interview 1minority candidate. It does not matter who they want. These are the rules.

I don't have a problem with the rules (other than the draft picks are way too generous, 4th instead of 3rd is still incentive)

So give them the holiday weekend and then they can start interviews on Tuesday.

Howie may also have to be cleared from protocol after that beer can.

I take McCown over patullo every day of the week. The passing game was off all year until the last two games of the season, why would you give that guy the keys? Also too close to sirianni, I fear we would be seeing the 2023 offense again

Agree but need a developmental kid. Although we suck as developing wrs

Yeah, agreed. Unfortunately this WR class is pretty weak. Very few players get me excited, especially when you consider where they will be drafted.

Usually there are a couple guys in the 4th or 5th rounds you can look at and imagine a scenario where they become significant contributors on a good team. I’m just not seeing much of that this year.

Nick Nash was mentioned and he’s a guy I like for a developmental role. Should go day 3. Plus size, speed and athleticism. Can play outside or as a big slot receiver.

I like both of the guys from TCU but even Jack Bech is now expected to be a day 2 pick, while I would have liked him in the 4th or 5th.

Tough year to get a WR and we might be better off punting to 2026.

I could see McCown being interested. He wants to be a HC and this job is the waiting room

St loius, seattle, Wash, Dal all had losing records eagles won all 4, his last start against NYG was an overtime loss AJ played awful, giants finished 10-6

He probably will be. Moore just became official Wednesday and had his introductory PC Thursday. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just wanted to wait till after the Parade and pick up on Monday.

Just because he excels as a QB coach doesn’t mean he would at OC.  Realistically, Moore may be looking outside that circle.  Any othe position is a lateral, which the Eagles would have to consent to.  That said, if Nuss wants to go because his boy is in his last year at LSU, I could see the Eagles granting it.  But if he wants to stay, I would keep him.  Only interview he received was with the Saints for OC.

Anais Smith showed a bit in the last game of the season, jonny wilson looked pretty good in camp another camp with hurts should help, then again its not like any of these guys are gonna see targets

Aj smitty goedert then barkley getting 25 a game dotson with like one target a game.

No reason to put any significant amount of resources into WR

Focus on the Lines per usual, games are won in the trenches.

This doesn't seem to be the year to dip into the WR pool.  They have Smith and Brown under contract for the foreseeable future.  They have Dotson under control, and they have just drafted Wilson and Smith (the other one).  Not sure that they have a plan for Dotson moving forward, but they invested a lot to get him here.

@LeanMeanGM so I'm playing around with Spotrac and the Saints cap. It looks like they have quite a few players who can convert their bonuses by adding on void years if I'm reading it right and what I'm doing is possible.

By converting the bonuses of Derek Carr, Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis, Cesar Ruiz and Erik McCoy I have them already at $7 million under the cap, nearly a $57 million cap swing. A few more of the same has them at $14 million.

Is this a realistic outlook for how they will have to go about business? They are going to have to d some damage to their cap down the road just to fit this year.

Theyve been doing it for many years. Every year "cap hell" being way, way over. Then they get under without releasing a bunch of good players. They know how to play the contract game.

Too much M16 fire and explosions in the Army without any hearing protection is what did it to me.
