He can easily win a spot. Hunt isn't being guaranteed that job.

There is absolutely nothing easy about it. What makes you think Ojulari would even beat him out?

He only played 11 games last year and had one of the highest missed tackle rates.

This FA class is not good. Ojulari is just the only thing that smells nice from this heap of garbage.

I think a lot of the 2025 season will be determined by Barkley, Ringo, Nolan Smith, and Jordan Davis.

Can Barkley replicate that?  Can he do it with a more normal RG?

Can Ringo play at (old) Slay’s level?

Can Jordan Davis fulfill his potential and be a full time player?

Can Nolan Smith routinely be the player he was down the stretch last year?

If we have positive answers to these questions, the Eagles are going to be every bit as good as last year.  (I realize we are making changes elsewhere too…but I think it’s actually less important).  If we have negative answers, they will fall off hard.

And that really depends on who we already have in house.  So why spend money and resources on band aids if the onus is really on the guys that are already here?

So, are you saying "don’t sign Ojulari”?

The total amount spent by the Eagles on new players so far is still less than the AAV Sweat got from the Cardinals.

It's Hunts job simply by default right now. He's not some entrenched starter for years.

We haven't had a consistent RG since 2019. We also haven't had a bad RG situation in that time either. Bummer about Becton, but I think we'll be OK with whatever Stout cooks up. Much more concerned about the secondary and EDGE openings. Although I think Ringo is going to surprise some people.

Steen will be fine at RG, he was the projected starter last year and got 1st reps but got hurt and Becton never looked back

When steen came in during the season he played fine, hes also in the athletic freak mold Stout likes at OL, not worried at all about RG not even a little

So yeah agre with your post

There sure are a lot of holes to fill in this draft, especially if Goedert is gone. If they trade Goedert, I hope it's for a draft pick this year and not next year.

Don't count on it.   The trade would need to take place between June 1 and when the option bonus is due for it to really be a helpful trade from a cap perspective.  And, as a result, would really force the trade to be about 2026 draft picks, not 2025.

While it's obvious the Eagles are playing the comp game, I think their interest in Justin Reid showed they're willing to forfeit the 6th rounder comp if it gets them a player they think is worth it.

Now some may argue the Eagles weren't seriously in the running for him, and agreed to an extent. But I also don't think Howie would've even bothered to call Reid's agent if he was only offering like 2m. Would've been an insult and a waste of everyone's time. So I think their offer was definitely north of that. Probably in the 5-7 range. So I think they're willing to go there, it's just do they think someone on the market is worth it for. For Reid they clearly did.

I think Reed is better than Epps.

Come September hopefully howie has unearthed some gems.

Finding guys like Baun on cheap FA deals is uncommon, Howie has many more instances of signing cheap FA LBs that never even make it out if camp than he does Baun instances so the odds arent in his favor, but heres hoping its a new trend and not just a one off

Treating him like a ST only player.

No more COOP on PRs...

Can't fault him too much for letting Becton walk at that number, there were some tough decisions to be made, and Baun was the right player to prioritize. But sure feels like trading CJGJ and not resigning Burks were two obvious mistakes that will come back to bite us.

Feels like it’s only a matter of time before Goedert is gone.

Doesnt seem to be much interest out there for him

Yup, epps has 3 ints in 7 seasons, Blankenship has 8 in 3.

I dont think Reed will break the bank at Safety and I wouldnt be surprised if Howie let him test the market when the time comes and another team offers him a lot more than Howie is willing to match.

Well see I think a lot of fans would be bummed if howie let Blank leave but would understand if it was due to crazy money from another team

2020 was a disaster. Brooks tore his Achilles in June. Herbig got benched for Opeta. Opeta went to IR so Herbig had to play again. At some point in there Jamon Brown had to start a couple games who then got thrown off the team for bringing a hood rat to the team hotel.

And Ojulari is? Hunt has far more potential than Ojulari and the coaching staff is going to focus on the development of Hunt. Again, it goes back to my original question if Ojulari would come here to be a backup. He's certainly not going to be given the starting job, and it certainly isn't going to be an easy competition. You have to remember, Hunt didn't even know how to get in a proper stance in preseason.

Didnt Herbig get hurt?

I dont remember him being awful, he wasnt awesome but he was ok a big fat sloppy backup😄

As for Jamon brown erased him from my memory

I somehow made it this far without hearing the term 'hood rat'

Vocabulary upgrade

The only moves I'm legit upset about are the CJGJ trade and losing Rodgers. And I will be if they trade Goedert, especially for a garbage pick. Everything else I'm cool with. Especially if they come out of the draft with a stud Edge and DT. If not, gonna be highly concerned about the DL. Right now they have zero depth at Edge and are asking a lot of two young guys who shared snaps.

Burks wasn't going to stick around with the likelihood of becoming Dean's backup again.  He was looking for a legit opportunity to be a starter elsewhere.

He had a minor injury that year but I remember him getting benched and Doug saying it was just because Opeta was better. Opeta then hurt his back and got put on IR so Herbig took the starting job back.

Yep, me too.  Too much riding on Ringo & Brown right now.  Obviously if Ringo turns into a good starter then all is fine but right now they've weakened the secondary which helped the pass rush which also got weakened.  Feels like too much right now.  Still a lot of time but it doesn't feel completely fixable from the draft

One other point I think the law of averages is working against Howie.  Sure he is good but you don't hit that many draft picks without an eventual regression. Same with 1-yr deals tho he did have misses with those

No i'm not saying he would be a guaranteed starter, i'm not fixated on either being one right now. They need quality players at that position however and Ojulari makes some sense if the price is right.
