Now do Ransom, Mukuba, and Bowman.

Mukuba and Bowman are undersized, Ransom is fine size wise but if what you're suggesting is picking Safety in the 3rd or later I'd take a moon shot on Kevin Winston, I think his ceiling is higher, His run support is solid out of the box, his tackling is better than anyone in your list and if he can clean up his coverage with pro coaching he'll be an incredible player.

Jalen Travis the guy I mentioned yesterday supposedly either has a top 30 or already had his top 30 with us... Add him to the list.

What about Castro from Iowa?

Yeah. Im not sure WInston is there in the 3rd. He belongs in the 1st-2nd round conversation too.

I think Mukuba is an ideal CJGJ replacement if thats what the team wants.

Bowman had 11 career INTs with 3 returned for TDs.

All Boards are subjective and just educated guesses, but here is Tankathon’s estimation of where the Safeties fall in their Top 50.  How do those rankings compare to your thoughts?

Still fun to go back and look at some of these one on ones .  Jalen Travis didn't look good.  Belton looked very good

I dont really know how to rank them.

Bowman had 11 ints and 3 td returns may mean he appeals most to a team looking for a play maker back there.

Mukuba has a 4.44 40, and can be versatile in his alignment. He also lays the wood despite his size, but hes undersized. Will a team knock him for the size? Or will they value his versatility? For us needing to replace Gardner-Johnson he makes the most sense- if we want that exact version of a safety.

Ransom looks all around solid, and seems to have a knack for punching the ball out to force fumbles. with requisite size but didnt run at the combine. Is he hiding athletic limitations?

When you read scouting reports they all read very similarly. They are all experienced, and instinctive at the position. They all trigger downhill aggressively in the rung game but most of them also say they can be too aggressive and miss tackles in doing so.

I keep bringing up the other guys because we keep talking about Watt in here, and the rest of them all seem to be on his exact same level. Different sites of the other guys ahead of him.

Theyre all vying for position. I can see any one of them potentially sneaking in to the end of the 1st round, and all of them going in round 2.

I do think Castro is in the next lower tier. He looks to be more of a close to the line of scrimmage guy than the rest.

All he showed was his lack of understanding of basic physics.

For a DT on the relatively smaller size, he ain't stopping ish. But rather than beyotching about it, he at least a little intellectual curiosity.  Live Luvu diving, an idiotic thing in isolation but a more coordinated disruption would have some success.  The shove is repetitive and successful, but few teams have really tried to think laterally to stop it.

Ok taking a flier on an OT, but passing on positions the draft is strong at for an OT in a weak class would be bad process IMO. But depends on who is on the board of course.

Somebody just needs to keep whispering "Dillard” in Howie’s ear.

Packers officially filed the ban for the tush push. Loser team.

I think Castro would fit best as a C3 SS like Hufanga, a run-around guy that you are not depending on over the top (so not really a fit here IMO).

In terms of taking a safety early, I like Jahdae Barron as he played the STAR position at Texas and has the size of Jalen Pitre and Brian Branch.  Obviously, he might go earlier as a CB but he doesn't have the prototypical build and exact skillset to play man coverage (very good in zone) so he might slip a bit... like Branch.

Could see a team like the eagles liking Barron as a CB in round 1. But if you listen to those NFL stock exchange guys, he might be CB1. I dont quite think that will happen, but I wouldnt expect him on the board at 32.

Of the prospects mentioned so far I'd rank

Emmanwori

Starks

Winston

Watts

Mukuba

Castro

Bowman

Ransom

I think if Winston was coming off a full season he'd be a first round lock, honestly if he went back to college for another year he'd go way higher next year than he will this.

So, Castro was from Iowa ........ no wonder Kennedy tried to have him killed.  Nixon did carry that state by 13.5 points.

Interesting idea.  As a CB how well does he project in the slot?

Tankathon has him as CB3 after Travis Hunter and Will Johnson.

He projects well inside - I just have some reservations about his length mostly and his transitions to a much lesser degree on the outside.  If he's playing off man-coverage/C4 (here), you are kind of hiding these issues until he's competing for the ball with the WR.

I saw a video yesterday (don't remember where it is) but as far as the positions they've talked to this off-season 1st by a large margin was OL and 2nd and 3rd was RB and CB.  there was a big drop after that.

Or Max Jean-Gilles.  I'm always concerned with players that have fallen and are a "bargain". But why they fall is just as important - Mitchell and Dejean were both absolute bargains. They fell because there were significant runs on other positions. Jean-Gilles / Dillard fell because they were flawed.
