They need to pump up this streak. Those Ls are rookie tank numbers.

All those SEC teams with losing conference records combined to go 1-4 in the first round.  None of them even made the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. Next year have those NIT worthy teams play 10 to 12 home games against Prairie View level teams instead of 6 or 7. Maybe we can get the entire conference into the tournament. 🤡

RIP George Foreman

Another of my favorites from childhood gone.  The man led an extremely interesting life and underwent a true change not many are capable of.

Heading for a showdown… Drake vs TxTech, 6pm.

I knew the knock on Walter Nolen was that he was a poor run defender. However with the amount of buzz surrounding him currently, I was under the impression that he must have fixed that this season.

Here is a video with a very contrarian take from a channel that I really enjoyed last year for their extremely in depth player breakdowns and rankings.

They cite run defense, AND character concerns.

Looks like you moved back 2 spots from 32 to 34 and got the majority of 3 teams drafts. I think the sim needs a chart, that’s like 30pts or mid-5th (maybe a bit better with the 1st rounder club option, 4th?). So, cutting out some of the noise;

1: Nolen, 2: Taylor, 3: J.Stewart, 4: Williams

That’s pretty good.

One of my boys picked drake as the national champion.  The other picked Texas Tech  That game will crush one of their brackets,  which were already only about 26% accurate.

Yeah...I don't really buy that.  The Georgia bond may have helped Carter. He personally knows and respects those guys.  They already had a brotherhood. The support system is not the same for Nolen.

It sounds like he is the Jason Babin of DTs.

I’ll have to find some full game cut ups against better competition to see how the motor runs. Based on the highlights: he can bull, he has really nice COD, burst in short areas and is quick off the ball. That’s a solid base skillset - can he develop some pass rush moves and learn to shed better… that speaks to the work ethic / coachable concerns.

Stewart's lack of production scares me. Jordan Davis was an athletic freak with measurables who didn't produce much in college and so far hasn't exactly panned out in the NFL at least not to the pick they took him at. Another guy who hasn't produced in college and is purely a projection scares me off. I'd take Nolen.

EDGE is the position where athleticism matters the most. DT is a little bit different, but it's still an athlete's position.

Very happy to see that announcement

MLFootball continues to be one of the worst accounts around.

@LeanMeanGM and other guys who pay attention to the little things:

Do we still have Kyle Phillips on the roster? I just heard his name mentioned and it made me wonder if he could be competing for a PR/KR job here this summer. Could be good competition for Avery Williams.

FWIW, Jason Babin wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone here makes him out to be.

His personality?  I have no idea.  Sounds like he was a dbag.  As a result of that, after he left there was a concerted (and successful) effort to completely rewrite history and spread information that he sucked here.  Does anyone have any idea how many beloved pure pass rushers we’ve had that were light in the edge-setting and run D department?…that are remembered very fondly?  Everyone said Reddick was the best player on the defense for 2 years.

Babin had 30.5 sacks and 2 probowls in 2 years here.  You know who never did anything remotely close to that?  I’m not going to say it…

I do remember the insane sack totals and I had a blast watching it.

People say he sold out for sacks and didnt play a team game. A mercenary. However, that was the glory days of the wide 9 where thats what the ends here were supposed to be doing. I get that.

It wasnt a slight at Babin. It was to say, Nolen, while not on draft websites but seemingly in NFL circles, is being talked about as that kind of mercenary player. He doesnt play the run, and doesnt give any effort on a lot of plays. Hes just out there to get sacks, when he feels like it.

As far as drafting DT round 1…

The vast, vast majority of round 1 DTs are slight disappointments.  Few are total busts.

It is a very tricky position to break through…and that applies to an individual play, to wrecking an offensive game plan, and to having a huge career.

Carter was identified by pretty much everyone as one of those breakthrough guys in the draft process…and has been one in the NFL.

All these other round 1 DTs…the marginal benefit they will get you over good DTs acquired for much less investment is very, very minimal.

This is a deep class, but most of the 1st round types are flawed. Not blue chippers. Im much more comfortable with a round 2 or 3 DT who will basically be the same player as the round 1 DT.

Im beginning to feel like a CB or something thats not necessarily a need, but BPA is going to be the best pick in round 1.

Shavon Revel at 32 is a crazy steal. Henderson or Hampton at RB would be fantastic additions. WR sounds crazy but Tre Harris or Jayden Higgins are two underrated X WRs with WR1 ability.

That leads to the conclusion that either trading up or down is probably ideal. In a trade up, Im still probably not targeting a DT because you cant get high enough for the blue chip guy. I said yesterday, the trade up targets for me are Jihad Campbell or Malaki Starks.

Jameis Winston from the Saints to the Browns to the Giants. He seemed so happy in New Orleans covering the Super Bowl, dude just needs to have his own show and forget football.
