For the price we paid he wasn't good.  Only played 7 years in the NFL.

The only thing I hate about the draft is the time between the combine and the draft.  Like get on with it already!! I know why they do it...to fill the time and keep people engaged.  Just seems like forever.

Ed Kracz has his 2nd mock out. This is his proposal for pick 32. I've read this 10 times and still don't see how this benefits the Eagles.

32, 96, 161, 164 and a 2025 5th for pick 40 and 71.

The draft value chart has the Eagles 2025 draft picks equaling 759 + whatever a 2026 5th is for the Saints picks that equal 735

Eagles send this pick and the first two of their four fifth-round picks, No. 161 and 164 overall to New Orleans - (the Saints don’t have a fifth-round pick) – and a fifth-round pick next year. Philly receives New Orleans’ second-round pick (No. 40 overall). The teams swap third-round picks, with the Eagles getting the 71st overall pick; the Saints get the Eagles’ No. 96 pick.

Yeah looks like way too much to give up for just trading up 25 spots in round 2. What the hell?

Forgot about Mahomes. Larry and Devonta aren’t QBs

Wilson and Mcnabb aren’t close

Wilson and McNabb were definitely super stars. McNabb had the national commercials and the Madden cover. Wilson had the super bowl wins, and the celebrity wife. Maybe you dont consider them "modern" super stars? You definitely cant say they werent superstars.

Completely overlooked the QB element. Duh! To me. McNabb and Wilson were big stars in their prime. Starr was maybe the best game manager ever but hardly a big star.

Anyone just feel like talking about the Super Bowl some more?

You guys need to stop disrespecting Y.A. Tittle

It's funny how I also sometimes think Wilson won more than one Super Bowl. He should have had two, but Carroll decided to throw.

I agree that he was a star in his prime, though.

Maybe superstar is the wrong word. Any QB with longterm nfl tenure is basically a superstar; Cutler, Romo, etc.

NFL legend is more what I mean. If you’re a new QB for the Raiders, and they ask you what number you want to wear, you’re never going to be remembered as the best QB to ever wear 12 no matter what you do. You could win more SBs, but people will always think of 9 as Drew Brees. 18 is Peyton, 7 is Elway, etc; Those numbers are "taken” in that specific sense

Whereas if you make 3 straight pro bowls, an all pro team, and/or win the Sb, you’d already be a more significant QB to wear 5 over Mcnabb. Had Hurts somehow been allowed to pick 5 instead of 1 (or 2), he’d already be the best 5 in modern history. IMO that number is still up for grabs for someone to claim the alltime best. Same with 3 for Wilson and his zero career MVP votes; I didn’t even immediately recall that was his Seahawks number. Like I don’t remember what McNair wore, or what Kerry Collins wore, or what Elvis Grbac wore. I’m sure there are a lot of young fans today for other teams that don’t know off the top of their head Mcnabb was 5, Romo was 9, Bledsoe was 11… but if you showed someone a #4 Jersey with no colors or team name and said it was a HoF, Favre would be the overwhelming guess. He IS the #4 Jersey guy

That’s a challenge: best bald players.

I’ll start with Otis Sistrunk, from the University of Mars.

For #14 I'd also forgotten about Otto Graham -- one of the best QBs in NFL history.  He was winning championships in Cleveland, for crying out loud.

Pro Football Reference has a handy page where you can see a list of every player in history to wear a number, then sort by AV (approximate value) which is good enough to see the best players ranked at that number.

He was such a big star that they needed to put 2 "r"s in his name.

I nominate Lane Johnson and Ray Nitschke.   RT and MLB covered.

Good target for this scheme.

There are a lot of good targets in this Draft for Fangio’s scheme.

When looking at the D-Line prospects keeping in mind Fangio’s clear desire to pressure the QB with only four pass rushers … while still being stout against the run … is essential.

Well, there is a lot that goes into draft evaluation.  Top talent also tends to mean ability that will transcend scheme.  Not sure there are many players in the top of this year’s draft.  Even Carter may not fit every defense but he seems pretty close.  Thing is that the media experts over focus on QBs because that is the most important position on the team.  After that it tends to be edge, OT, WR and CB (the latter two also bust more than any position).  There are no QBs, OTs, WRs that fit the can’t miss moniker and the best edge is probably Carter but even he isn’t a guaranteed success.  Hunter is a Big12 CB and they have a bad habit of flaming out in the NFL.  That said, there is decent depth of some potentially solid starters this year.  But there is no player in the draft this year that screams AllPro for me. But the third day after the fifth, I doubt there are many sleepers.  But note, go to BigEd76 thread in the NFL Draft section of the EMB and note all the round five level players that the Eagles have confirmed contact with.  Howie’s team and coaches doing their due diligence.

I think Howie made good use of his sixth and seventh round picks this year.  Arguably we got Pickett for a 22 pick decrease from the third round pick last year and he parlayed that into a move in the opposite direction next year for DTR plus a fifth. So one year rental of Pickett for 22 slots and a couple of 2025 sevenths that netted the Eagles a 2025 fifth and DTR.

Plus if some player drops, Howie has assets to pursue but I suspect he is quite satisfied with seven picks this year.   Now draft rankings and projections are a crap shoot but I would say the strength of this year’s draft is not bad for the Eagles.  There are some decent depth ILBs in the mid rounds (3-5), some decent depth at OLB/Edge, decent depth at S (never really large) and CB although I thought the top of the CB depth was better last year and real good depth at DT.   I kind of like the back up level OL this year but worry they will be over drafted due to the lack of stellar OL this year.

Per PE.com, "The Eagles have eight picks currently in this year's draft – all within the first five rounds as they have no sixth- or seventh-round picks.”

You're right, 5 picks for 2 and it just seems wacky and a loss for us.

0-2 there Kracz

This was a table shared by @Aerolithe_Lion - seemingly Ezeiruaku has the run stopping box checked.

Yeah he's one of the top targets for staying at 32 I'd think. Id be very happy with that pick.

@just relax’s Michigan product Josiah Stewart looks very good on that graph.  I have been warming up to Bradyn Swinson in the past few weeks, but his Run Stop Rate in this graph isn’t great. Of course the graph is only as good as the underlying data.
