So no Daryle Lamonica for #3?  Or Norm Van Brocklin for #11?  He was a stud in LA, and brought some good stuff to Philly.  But, yeah... too early for 'modern'.

#6 seems like a number to give to a kicker, because it certainly hasn't been good for Qbs across history.

Put some respect on Bubby Brister’s name!  Oh and Mark Sanchez!

Unironically, I’d say Mayfield since he’s the only person to lead the Browns to really any success in this century.

Define "modern".  Super Bowl era?  21st century?   What's the line?

That picture is delusional.  I was a remote home office employee and spent a lot of time in the Chicago area where our U.S. home office is and a lot of time in Edina MN (suburb of Minneapolis.)   A lot of folks from those areas vacation on the Wisconsin shore.  Further, Detroit isn’t far, and neither is Indianapolis, Cleveland and even Pittsburgh.  KC is a day’s drive.  That picture is 99% Green Bay fans with maybe a Detroit fan thrown in.

(Note, I came of driving age while living in Texas so I don’t blink twice at a 10 hour drive when I want to get someplace.  And Since retiring I tend to drive.  I can get to my FIL (Paris TX) in two days pretty easily although I tend to take longer (3 days) and all sorts of different routes.   My BIL in Wichita is a two day drive although I tend to take longer and see things along the way (like Casey, IL with all its biggest items or the Uranus Fudge Factory, Route 66 goofiness at its finest).

BTW, @Utebird, Intrust is a nice arena and UH playing there coinciding with my BIL second knee replacement surgery was a nice coincidence.   Talked with a lot of college basketball fans this past weekend.  (BIL was pretty savvy scheduling his first knee during the WS last year and March Madness this year.)

You wonder if the value chart will ever be updated. Seems that 5th year is getting to be more and more important with contracts going the way they are.

I wonder about that. Take Carter, for example. Does anyone seriously think the Eagles will exercise the fifth year option with him? I sure don’t.

Apparently Dave Gettleman basically built the Eagles team in New York.  Daniel Jones is the only reason they haven't had our level of success.

I’m trying to think of the last 1st round pick we picked up the option for…Barnett?  There’s only a few weeks left for the decision on Jordan Davis right?  Going even back to Joe Banner days, they’ve always been ones to resign talent as early as possible.

LIX lacks the drama of LII.  What you describe is not a surprise.

I don’t think I rewatched LII until recently, too stressful - the whole game was a white-knuckle affair… I survived it as much as enjoyed it.

Even if Goedert stays I'd still like to come out of the draft with a TE, but now I'd feel perfectly fine passing on one the first 3 rounds to beef the lines back up again. If Goedert goes, they probably don't have that luxury.

Jackson Hawes from Georgia Tech (and before that Yale) is an ideal Day 3 TE to provide what Calcaterra and the two FA signings don’t provide … excellent inline blocking.  Goedert provides that as well but his injury history tells us that those inline blocking skills won’t always be available.

I really think the old pick value charts undervalue the fifth year option with a first.

Agreed 100%

Eagles hosted free agent OT Kendall Lamm on a visit today. Interested in a Fred Johnson replacement apparently.

An amazing group of QBs.

Are you suggesting that AI art would be unrealistic?

Thought I saw they signed him?

Reminder, Eagles cut him to sign Shaq Leonard.

Last year, he started 5 games, had 80 tackles, 1 INT, 1 FF, 1 FR, 1.5 sacks, 1 TFL and 5 QB hits.

It changes the leverage.

Meh... we have Baun now.   I'm not going to cry about this move.  The important thing is we have new coaches on that side of the ball now.

Oh, not crying about it and it's great to have Baun. Elliss was a great ST player who has some skill to play meaningful snaps on D. If they bring him back, they don't sign Burks so I'm not angry. Burks was fantastic.

Have to assume they will as a formality.

but if carter stays healthy and plays like this again he is gonna get a monster contract

No doubt. Guy is 32, not a long-term solution at all. I haven't seen any contract details for Fred Johnson yet. Will be interesting to see the two compared.

Dolphins fans are mad he left FWIW. Said he was rock solid as a depth OL.

The only thing I hate about the draft is the time between the combine and the draft.  Like get on with it already!! I know why they do it...to fill the time and keep people engaged.  Just seems like forever.

The time is probably for FOs to adjust their boards based on the medical from the combine and the supplementary medical revisits about a month later and after pro days.  ((Also on BigEd’s draft thread, you will see the pro days listed, the last is 4/4 so less than three weeks to incorporate the information learned into the draft board.  Also need to fit in the top 30:visits (plus the locals that don’t count against the 30).  May be a long time for us, but a whirlwind for the players and the teams.

Speaking of player visits.  As a PSU student Abdul Carter qualifies as a local. Eagles should bring him in. Carter is a Birds fan and would probably appreciate the interest, which may be a leg up when he hits free agency.

As a kid born in Philadelphia, he also qualifies as a local.
