If the tush push is to be attacked, it should be from the perspective that it’s not a football play.  Argue that it’s more rugby or something.  Pushing a player from another player isn’t football.  Not sure if I do or don’t agree, but that’s the argument to make.

Arguing that it’s unskilled or automatic is ridiculous.  Falling on a football is unskilled.  Field goals under 30 yards are automatic.  You don’t ban those things.  That’s just sour grapes.

OL have been 'pushing the pile' for generations of football.

Here's part 1 of the video I made of plays with multiple radio/tv calls. It can't be embedded because the NFL claims the copyright (of course), but click the link and you can watch it on our YouTube channel. Part 1 goes up to the pick six.

In the description, I set chapter points for each play, each version. So you can skip around if you wish. But to help the channel, let it run all the way through at least once. Otherwise YouTube will ding it a little in terms of promoting it.

I've been searching for as many different broadcasts as I can find, so far I've found a UK broadcast and one that I think is from Spain. If anyone else knows of any others, German, Australian, Japanese... whatever, let me know.

Flyers ruining their shot at a top 5 pick by winning meaningless games is just so on brand. Still time to lose this one, but it's Buffalo

The Tush Push is like Kareem's sky hook. It looks easy but no one else can consistently do it.

Hurts is a great football player. The O-line has some great players but they change. The HC and O-line coach are smart and know how to teach the play.

Minshew, Mariota, Pickett, and McKee have a combined 2 rushing TDs in about 8 games worth of play time. Same line, same coaches, same team.

Hurts has 62 rushing TDs in 71 games since he became the starter in 2021.  (65 in 75 if you count his 2020 starts)

LaDainian Tomlinson had 64 rushing TDs in his first 71 games

Emmitt Smith had 58 rushing TDs in his first 71 games.

Adrian Peterson had 66 rushing TDs in his first 71 games.

Josh Allen has 46 in 76 games since the start of 2021. Its not that close.

Cam Newton had 43 in his first 81 games.

Mahomes got a boo boo once so he is not allowed to QB sneak. Josh Allen had to leave a 4th down sneak up to the refs because he could not get 1 yard. Lots of other QBs don't have the smarts or reaction time to read the play like a RB, or the ability to power through contact.

The timing of the Torts firing was incredibly stupid.  It ensured that the players would play harder for the interim coach.

Why an OT in round two?  To sit on the bench for three years?  Bad allocation of resources.

Alfred Collins is redundant of Jordan Davis.  People are complaining enough about having one Davis with low snaps.  Why would you want two of the same limited player?

Wonderful analogy.

If this was true, I'd have a big smile on my face too!! :excited:

I think people would complain less about Davis if he weren't a first round pick. A 3rd rounder for that role is fine and with the big paydays coming up for several players, it let's the Eagles move on from him after his rookie deal to keep things cheap.

The OT comment is fair. But 1) we have no idea of Lane will last that long and 2) we absolutely need a backup tackle. Right now Lamm and Pryor are listed as the back up tackles.  Aka if anyone gets hurt we're screwed.

the score doesn't matter.

if there was a mercy rule they would've called it by the 3rd.

At 32, if they can snag Donovan Ezeiruaku, I think they would be ecstatic.  I like the first round safeties but I think they should continue with what brought them and focus on the lines.

You describe the conundrum very well.  It really boils down to incremental improvement … how much improvement over Brown/Cine would Starks (or one of the other draftable Safeties) be versus how much improvement would one of the draftable D-Linemen bring?

That is the same question that applies to the use of a Round Two pick on an OT versus a D-Lineman.

Lamm and Pryor are solid backup OTs. There is the possibility that Lamm’s back could be a problem, but we also have Kinnard.  The need at OT is to have a developmental draftee who needs a redshirt year to learn from Stoutland and/or to bulk up to NFL size.  With Conerly most teams will slot him in as a starter from game one.  He is essentially NFL ready.

A high first rounder they traded up for too, which certainly factors in. Even Howie said if he doesn’t develop into a pass rusher, it’s not a good pick.

But THAT score would have been the single most epic thing in all of NFL history. Bigger than the Bears beating the Redskins 72-0.

Michkov flying all over the ice the last game and 2/3's, 4 goals/5 points. Coincidence, I think not.

Also, lose the game dummies.

That is living in the past.  The relevant comparison for Davis is in the present. Compare him to the free agent defensive tackles that have been signed during the most recent free agency. That is the relevant comparison.

No. He was drafted where he was drafted and he has not lived up to his draft status per the GM who drafted him. That’s living in reality. Lowering the bar to prop him up after the fact is not relevant.

Not being a fan is not a good reason to propose a ban. I am not a fan of Mark Murphy, hence the NFL should ban him.  Further, from a metric perspective, as Mark notes, the Tush Push is almost 100% effective, whereas any NFL fan can say Mark Murphy is less successful than an Eagles tush push, hence BigEFly’s proposal to ban Murphy carries more weight and thus of the two proposals, should be the one passed.

Plus, you need a rotation on DL, whereas a rotation at safety is typically disastrous

RTK is going to sit on Hurts’ lap, which will cause Smitty to move to 5. But I’m taking 3 because I’m white and awkward.

They're really doing their homework on the OT guys that can slide inside to guard. I think they're looking for a long term solution at RG, just my opinion of course. I like Belton the most for that spot but you're going to have to use a 2nd. Same with all these other guys they're investigating.
