So, does that mean the 53 cutdown is really 55 now?

And with the 8 going to 10 does that mean more than 2 elevations per game are possible? Or are DFRs different from elevations?

No different from last year.  Used to be that if a player was sent to IR before the start of the season, he was gone for the year.  Hurts development and the player’s career.  So with players that would be unavailable for a few weeks, those were carried on the final roster and players that would have made the squad were cut, exposing them to being picked up by a bottom rung team or more likely being unemployed or taking another players PS spot.  Now two players on IR if designated can return and not result in unnecessary roster churning.

I don’t even like that image as a gag, but it helps that the Turds as currently constructed are closer to Giants-level bad than Commanders-level good, IMO

Don’t let facts get in the way of a good post

Speaking of UDFAs, I predict that the Hughlett signing is insurance but that Howie will being in an UDFA at LS.  I saw that the Eagles looked at the Rutgers LS.  I would ask our resident WVU junkie @Mike31mt to opine on Arthur Brinkman that seems like a real good LS candidate.

Speaking of Hughlett, several of Howie’s 1 year signings suggest they are insurance, just enough of a bonus/guaranteed amount to entice signing but at a small cost to the cap if cut.  And some of the lower cost players that got away got more guaranteed than Howie wanted to offer.  (See Fred Johnson, for example).

I hate to ask but….

@mattwill, why the confused reaction?  You got 20 years on me. So I have to ask, if you are hip to kids these days, how do you do it?  I got a threenager who’s already too much so I need EVERY angle I can get to keep up before she’s a teen and hates me.

If you are f’ing old then what the f’ am I?  It’s so confusing.

Better get rid of blitzes and zone defense. Bet there is a higher injury rate then on the brotherly shove. NFLs logic makes no sense.

The tush push is clearly getting banned and it was never about player safety, how it looks, being a rugby play, etc. This is quite simple. The Eagles have essentially invented or put an innovative twist on an existing play and are able to do it so much better than everyone. They just won the SB. Sirianni is not likeable and people are sick of Howie running circles around the league and making them look foolish. This is personal. That was pretty obvious before today. However, when the league was set to vote on it and it came up 8 votes short, and instead decided to "table the vote" until May it is crystal FN clear that they are going to do whatever they can (change the language of the rule change, bribe people to change their vote, etc) to make it go away. For a league who gives zero F's about player safety to claim that is their concern and then to essentially say "There is no data to suggest it's dangerous but it could be" just goes to show what a bunch of hypocritical FN clowns they are.

He was so good in Heat and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. And of course, MacGruber.

Rest in peace, Val Kilmer. His role as Doc Holliday was one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen in film, and it’s a crime he wasn’t even nominated.

Didn't he do the last Psyche as well?

So among all the tush push drama, Wentz has officially retired and become his Alma mater SDU's qb coach.

Maybe this is old news🤷‍♂️ but its new news to me.

The article read states that hes retiring after being mahomes backup up and " narrowly losing  in the Lombardi..."

Guess blowouts are narrow...🤔

It reads like the person who wrote it has never watched a football gane.

It goes on to say that Wentz " chose," coaching because he wants to mentor younger qbs, and ty he coaches think hell be good at it because when wentz was hurt he helped Stick... So yeah that tracks ...😒

Theres zero mention of him retiring after 9 seasons because he doesnt want to be a backup and no team wants him for anything more.

The whole wentz story is sad, he could have been so much more for the birds and in the end he was just a guy whose two backups won super bowls while he was on the sideline.

🤷‍♂️

Just as a point of history... football was adapted from rugby.  That's where the term "touchdown" comes from.  Laterals are legal, because they are legal in rugby.  The tackling of the ball carrier was because that was rugby.  The center "snap"... rugby.  The conversion for points after touchdown.  The field goal posts having uprights and a crossbar.  7 points for a touchdown with successful conversion by kicking.  3 points for a kick not after a touchdown.  Penalty kick versus field goal...

So many elements are specifically translated from rugby, so the "this looks like rugby" is a weak statement.

Per Gunn…

There's no doubt the Eagles want Dallas Goedert back this season ... but they're hoping to reduce his financial number .. Howie is the best at moving money to make things work .. but in this case if the two sides can't come to an agreement ... the birds will find a trade partner.

This feels less like Josh Sweat to me, and more about the Eagles not wanting to pay him given all the injuries.
