Odds we draft a QB in this years draft?

They might fetch in a UDFA, I just don't see the point in spending a draft pick on somebody to compete for 3rd string

The 3rd stringer may prove to be a valuable backup. Like McKee who was 3rd string, and is reportedly drawing trade interest.

Kyle McCord is the smart pick this year.

0%. McKee has two years as does DTR.  Really don’t see a Day 3 QB that won’t be overvalued this year.

This is a BPA draft where the positions favored are OLB/Edge, DT, TE, IOL, maybe RB, maybe S, maybe CB.  QB may be the weakest position in this draft.

I wouldn’t say zero…there’s 2 things here connected.  QB’s being extremely weak this class and the trade for DTR.  Which I think the addition of DTR is based off the weak draft.  However DTR figures to be probably not more than a camp arm/PS type player IMO.

Shhhhhhhhhhh, not so loud.

If Harmon is the guy (and I would be thrilled), Eagles will need to trade up at least ahead of Buffalo. All for it, especially if Nolen goes early.

I think if Kyle McCord is there in the 5th, possibly even the 4th they will take him.

If no QB is drafted I would not be at all surprised if they sign as a UDFA Taylor Algerians from Canada.  @HazletonEagle would like the QB from Buffalo as a UDFA.

Was reading about this guy.  People like him.  Sounds like a baller.

Potentially trading McKee is great news, but I still doubt it happens.

As we all know, qb is a simple position.

Franchise QBs have massive value.  QBs who, in the eye of the beholder, are potential franchise QBs, have massive value.

Placeholder QBs have zero value.  Backup QBs…have very little value.  The eagles, over the years, have demonstrated to place more value and resources into the backup qb position than any team in the nfl.

Now that Pickett is gone, McKee is our backup qb.  Given the above statements, that means McKee *should* be worth more to us than anyone else out there.

Unless someone really thinks he’s got it and REALLY wants to pay up.  There is absolutely no way Howie parts ways with a young backup qb under contract and leaves the spot to chance and chaos for less than a second round pick.

There’s something about Walter Nolan I could feel about Nolan Smith and Devonta Smith. He just FEELS like a guy who ends up with us

We have been driving from California to Rocky Mountain National Park every summer since 1998, so we cover most of the ground that @LeanMeanGM has described.  Another great place to stay between Zion and Bryce is Zion Mountain Ranch  https://www.zmr.com. And then a bit farther along Utah Route 12 is the Boulder Mountain Lodge and Hells Backbone Grill five star restaurant  https://www.hellsbackbonegrill.com/the-lodge

Biggest "point” would be staggering contract end dates. Don't think DTR affects anything.

He oozes Howie draft crush. Top recruit like Nolan Smith. Howie likes traits and potential. They need a DT. I'd make him my favorite right now.

I really don't expect the Fangio to love Walter Nolen the way the blog does.  If the guy doesnt play the run, that's not gonna fly.

I think he's way over-mocked here for a pick that's not going to happen (gut feeling).

If a team wants to give up a 1st for McKee, they can have him.

Pick 64 is up.  Both Kevin Winston Jr. and Mason Taylor are top 2 on your big board.  Which one would you pick (assuming we're not trading back and didn't take S or TE in round 1)

Taylor 10 times out of 10.  They are roughly equivalent BPAs, so no real preference there.  And we have no succession plan in place for TE, but do have two young Safeties in Brown and Cine that we should probably ride for this season.

Now if it were Taylor vs Starks I would have a different answer.

I agree.

Agreed - he might be out of reach completely but maybe something can be worked out with MIN (who are very short on picks overall).

Howie was saying that McKee has been sought after by other team.  He added a backup QB just in case McKee moved on.  If a good deal is presented, McKee may well be on the way out.

It's a win-win. McKee gets a chance somewhere and Eagles get a higher need asset. But, a first rounder? On what basis does that happen? Which team or teams are that desperate?

I'd do it for a 2 if that's possible. That would allow Howie to jump up in the first.

I don't see McKee being traded unless it's some insane offer that's too good to turn down. DTR isn't good enough to be the primary backup, especially for a team like the Eagles that emphasizes backup QB. Plus with how they are being about money this offseason they have the perfect, cheap cheap guy in McKee. I don't see them wanting to have to use money to get a serviceable backup QB in McKees absence.

Since our YouTube channel is getting a little activity at the moment, I thought I'd show where we stand with regard to monetization eligibility at the moment.

To quote a good song, we've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.

I think it'd take a Feeley-type return at bare minimum. And honestly, I think that might not be a terrible deal for teams. Would I rather have McKee or a guy like Tyler Shough, who's actually somehow OLDER than McKee? I'm taking McKee 10/10 times.

That's an interesting enough question to pose to the group. Would you take Pick 40 for McKee?

McKee won't be traded. For one, other teams filled their QB holes and the draft is coming up. Two, the Eagles traded Pickett, what sense does it make to trade both? I think the Eagles planned to move Pickett and they were looking for another QB3, probably sniffed around Milton but settled on DTR as part of the Pickett deal.

Yea, if a team wants to give up a high second I'd do it.

Not sure who would be the backup in that scenario though. Most of they guys still out there stink. It would have to be like a Drew Lock or Joe Flacco again.
