I think I like Josiah Stewart more than Shemar. He looks more explosive to me, but maybe not quite as much power. Something about the way Shemar moves I don't like. He looks stiff.

Yup - I like DTR enough, not better.

The Birds won the SB with Kenny Pickett as #2. McKee didn't even see the field. All this speculation about needing McKee as a guarantee behind Hurts is based on what? Last year the Birds won the SB without needing that and the backup was pretty bad.

I couldn't agree with you more. DTR will likely run the O better than Pickett. If McKee can get a 2, do it in a heartbeat. If they can fill 2 D needs in the draft by trading McKee, do it, Howie.

Thank you. I think this is a very fair assessment. I particularly like your last paragraph, because he is not a pure rookie. He has actually started a league game and played well and he has time in a quality system with pro coaching, which I think bumps him up to the second round someplace. For those who say well, he was drafted late so any return that brings a higher pick than was used on him is a good return, I would mention Brady, Moon, Warner, and Romo. To me, McKee looks the part. I also think the Eagles could win a lot of games with him starting should Hurts miss significant time. With that in mind, I think a second round pick for him is a bargain for the acquiring team and an absolute minimum compensation for us. JMHO.

Would actually go even further and say you can't trade him until you see what he can do with the one's in live action.  Has shown some game and could be a diamond in the rough.  With him, you can use the whole playbook and turn on the air raid siren as well.  Ball is coming out.

if someone offered a second for McKee, Howie takes it all day every day.

If you turn down a second for him now, what's the plan in a couple of seasons when his rookie deal runs out?

That is a good question, but it exists regardless of whether you trade McKee or don’t trade him.

What trading McKee does is immediately present another question that doesn’t exist currently … who is your starting QB if Hurts misses games due to injury?

So, as you are dashing up to take that 2nd Round pick for McKee, what is your plan for addressing that second question?

I like what McKee did in college, the limited stretches here and I think he's a superior QB to DTR but he's always been a puzzling scheme fit.  DTR on the other hand was a favorite in the 2023 draft because it seemed seamless.

Say "seemed seamless” four times, fast.😵‍💫

Loved going to RMNP back when we lived in Denver.  Moraine Park Campground was our personal favorite spot to camp... it had JUST enough amenities to be comfortable (Walkable bathroom, bear boxes, a picnic bench and a ready to go firepit) but deep enough into wilderness that you are guaranteed to see lots of deer, elk, etc from your tent.

You frequented the east side of RMNP.  We stay at the YMCA of the Rockies camp in Granby … accessing the west side of the park, and regardless of east or west it is all good.  We often take a day trip loop from Granby up Trail Ridge Road and then down to Estes Park, and then down US 36 through Allenspark and Nederland to Idaho Springs, and then up and over Bethoud Pass and through Winter Park on US 40.

City Connect is one of the dumbest thing that Nike has done. I pray this doesn't find it's way to the NFL.

What is it that you don’t like about it?

As it stands currently, here are the players I think are most likely to be drafted by the Eagles in no particular order. I was going to do a top 5, but I've narrowed it down to 7 I feel best about as Eagles kinda picks:

Walter Nolen
Donovan Ezeiruaku
Mykel Williams
Shemar Stewart
Derrick Harmon
Grey Zabel
Josh Simmons

Absent from the list:

Jalon Walker - I think he'd be really high on Howie's list, but don't think he'll be there
Jihaad Campbell - same
James Pearce - if the character issues are true, Howie's not taking him as much as I love the player and would want him.
Malaki Starks - don't think they're going safety in round 1. Trading away a good safety only to fill the hole with your first round pick feels like bad process. Especially for a position they don't value as much as OL and DL.
Donovan Jackson - don't think they'd go OL in round 1 without OT versatility.

I think they're going DL in round 1 with a smaller chance for an OT they play at guard for a few years.

As of the moment only Ezeiruaku has visited fwiw

My dream scenario is Jalon Walker falling, but I really don't think it's going to happen. I think he's going to be really good. There is some talk about teams not quite agreeing on how to use him, so maybe there's an outside chance he slips, but as a pure Edge in the NFL he's going to be a monster.

If he makes it to like 25, crossing my fingers Howie makes a jump up for him.

So if Cleveland doesn't go QB at 2 what could we expect in return for a simple drop down from 32 to 33 so Cleveland can get that 5th year eligibility?  Could we swap 134 for 104?  Is the hope that Sanders or Dart keep falling so either Cleveland, New Orleans, etc. offer up a ransom to move up?

Here are the historical trades of picks 32 and 31.  Your proposed trade is in line with the 2024 trade of 32 for 33.

Would be thrilled to move up to draft him. Think he has the pass rush tools to be a 12+ sacks/year type player.

But living in the Charlotte area, there is alot of buzz lately on local sports talk radio that the Panthers are enamored with him. He is somewhat of a local having grown up in Salisbury, NC. Could see them taking him early in RD1.

Question: How good do you think McKee is compared to any of the QBs coming out this year?

That is the real question.

This is where I come down.  And by that logic McKee moves ahead of Sanders and Dart for me.

@Alphagrand I'm surprised you didn't include Kyle McCord in your assessment.  I think he and Shough are equivalent.

He was a projected 1st rounder before his last season.  His last season he had one of the worst O-Lines in all of college football which is why he dropped.  He has the talent.  I'm not trading him for anything less than a 2nd rounder.

Kevin Harlan's calls are the best of the bunch. He's one of the best announcers of my lifetime and he's so underrated. He should be doing games on TV for the top crews. I'd take him as PBP over literally anyone at FOX and probably CBS as well. He's certainly better than Nantz.

This was another good foreign language one.

Might be wrong, but I expect the QBs after Ward to fall. Only guy I'd even want is Milroe.

I want to see what the Giants do. I've felt they may pass on QB for a while, but what is their long term plan there? They may not suck enough to get into the top 5 for a QB next season. I mean they might, they do suck, but there's no guarantee. Wilson could get them to 6-7 wins conceivably. Do they figure they have to pounce while they have a QB sitting in their laps and Schoen tries to save his job? Or do they pass for future uncertainty?

I think the latter is probably the best option, I don't think you ever take a QB out of desperation. But Sanders even though I don't think he is a franchise QB, he does have some tools. I want to see if they fall to the temptation by draft night. And if not, where he goes. I think his floor is the Steelers at 21. But could go Giants, Raiders, Jets, Saints, Colts.

So if we look at the top 30 so far who you picking out of these guys who have been mocked in the late 1st-early 2nd range

Donovan Ezeiruaku

Josh Conerly Jr.

Donovan Jackson

Maxwell Hairston

Based on how the Eagles have operated over the last decade. They have prioritized backup QB countless times.

Even if the majority opinion is that Kenny Pickett is pretty bad, which I even agree, the Eagles liked him enough to trade draft picks for him because he was a veteran and the Eagles didn't trust McKee yet.

Similarly, I don't see how they could trust DTR at all yet and I really see no way it can be said he would run the offense better than Pickett did this last year. I understand the teams are different and his skill set may be better utilized with the Eagles but DTR was still horrendous when he had to play. He's had 32 drives for the Browns that resulted in 2 rushing TD's, 1 FG, 14 punts and 15 turnovers. He's not been good since entering the NFL.
