Ideally I don't want OG with a first round pick, but the reality is the Eagles don't like Steen. It couldn't be more apparent. I'd rather have an OL I felt great about than an Edge I didn't even if I think Edge is a much bigger need. If Banks turns out to be a stud RG and can slide out to OT if Lane or Mailata have to miss time, that would be a very important pick even though it's more of a luxury.

We saw with Barnett last time they took a guy without elite athletic traits and he was a bust, then they go back to drafting more elite athletic traits in recent years and it's no coincidence that the Eagles draft success exploded. Some of it is probably luck too, but point being, on the DL give me elite athletes. If they're going there in round 1 I want guys who have elite tools in the body as Howie says. If they can't get that at DL at 32 I'd either trade up, trade back or take another position where I think you can get someone who is elite. Just keep drafting elite football players and this team will be great for years.

I tend to agree with you about Steen. To me he's a JAG, well coached but still a JAG. As @mattwillwould say, he's got more junk in his trunk than Driscoll so he's harder to move but his movements are, to me, sluggish. Were the Eagles to draft Savaiinaea, I think he would beat out Steen in short order. Steen has value as a swing backup but I'm not happy with him starting.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

I really think OT is in play if it's a guy who gets the Stoutland stamp of approval as an elite type guy. I'll put it this way, even if internally they have Edge or DT as a bigger need, if it's their pick and Banks Jr is the best on the board, I think they'll take him. I think Howie is done with the days of reaching. It burned them in the past.

I couldn't agree more. I think Steen is much better suited to play T than G and his ceiling might just be as a very good swing tackle. I'd be really surprised if the Eagles didn't draft a G or a T prospect who can play G to start off by the end of day two. Mbow, Belton, and Cross all visited and make sense.

Sorry, wrong thread

So good.

Did the Rams have a run defense in this game?

Somehow degloved P came up in here a few years ago so it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve seen.

Just when I thought there was NO WAY you all could top the "2024 gross feet talk to fill the dead season" discussions, you guys F'n did it!!!

Poster 1: "man that’s a really gross injury”

Poster 2: "I’ve seen a degloved P, and it’s one of the worst things you could ever see. Trust me, don’t google it.”

Me: *Immediately googled it in private mode*

If you were married to schmoopie you would be ruined by now.

Schmoopie: What, you never googled a blue waffle????

me: For the last time no and stop trying to make me!

This is what happens when you marry someone from this board.  Yes, you get to watch football all day sunday with your wife who is just as into it as you, but your relationship would make most therapists question everything they know about healthy relationships.

First Saquon... then Carter?!

Maybe I'm misreading this, if you are saying Saquon grew up an Eagles fan, I don't think that's true.  His family was from NY, moved to the lehigh valley when he was 4 or 5.  We went to Whitehall and when I was there, there was more giants fans than you my expect.  Growing up, we would get both NY and Philly stations so kids were exposed to both teams. (that may have changed with the way tv is now)

Edit:  Looked it up.  He was a Jets fan as a kid.

We don't even know if Pearce's character issues are legit. And that's very broad. That could mean anything from legal issues to just being a bit abrasive. I can't say the Eagles shouldn't draft him if I don't even know what. if any, issues he has.

I like Mykel Williams a lot. Saw Georgia play a lot and he passes the eye test or me. I just don't like Scourton very much. Not as a first rounder anyway. Don't like the way he moves, don't like his get off, doesn't seem to have a ton of power. Just not a fan. I like Ezeiruaku slightly better, but not way more.

Regarding your comments about Pearce, Tyler Steen is being relegated to purgatory based on just as vague/suppositioal information.  Why should Pearce get a pass and Steen not get a similar pass?

My problem with Williams is that he is one of those players like his teammate Jalen Walker who doesn’t have a clear position.  My fear is that both of them are jacks of all trades and masters of none.

The game was very tense for quite a bit prior to that run. When he broke that, i screamed so loud I almost blacked out i made myself so dizzy.

Steen we have circumstantial evidence of them not liking him by continuing to pass over him at every turn. We don't really have that with Pearce. Just some really light unconfirmed rumors and not from the high end insiders either.

I meant kids I watched at PSU and dreamed of playing for the Eagles... only to have them end up with the Giants.   If we were discussing him going to the Bucs, I'd have said first Godwin, now Carter!

Yup... then it got tense again!   😬

Hope some of you watched that Riley Leonard video with Gruden.

Im not bullish on his QB ability for the NFL.

But I do agree with @Wentz_Era insofar as that Leonard is a guy I want on my team.

And when you watch this video, you hear the answers he gives- he already matches the eagles culture perfectly.

He talks about loving to be coached hard. He got tired of hearing how good he was and wears a bracelet that says you suck. And he talked about trying to please and play hard for the wrong people and learning to only care about the team. Same kind of thing we heard from the eagles a bunch of times this year.

He kind of reminds me of a more refined Tebow.  At 164…that’s when I’m open to maybe thinking about a QB.  I think Gabriel and McChord are safe bets to have very long careers as NFL back ups.  Leonard is that dart throw.

It took me a casual month, but I finally finished reading the entire Super Bowl thread.

And since I can’t comment there, I should point out that Landon Dickerson was in North Carolina, not Alabama, when he was drafted so the ten hour drive comment makes more sense. I’ve watched that video dozens of times. And I’ve seen DeJean’s so many times that I practically have it memorized. I used to love watching Casey Toohill’s video too, but I couldn’t stomach it after he went to Washington. It just made me sad.
