Personally, I really like Hunter. I think he should focus almost exclusively on CB, his upside is a more athletic Asante Samuel. Unfortunately for him, whoever drafts him high will buy into the hype of 2 way player and overuse him. Detroit, Buffalo or here would be perfect for him. I’d say KC too, but I’m over them at this point. Andy got his, now they’re just annoying.

I think he's going to have a tough time living up to the hype and being the #2 pick. He projects safely as a pro-bowler. BUT...

If he were only a CB. He's a lock first round pick. Top 20, easy. Top 15? Probably. Top 10? Not many CBs go top 10, even as elite prospects.

If he were only a WR. Again, first round pick. Probably top 20, but not top 10.

This is not the football Shohei Othani. He adds no value as a dual position player if he's a full time WR playing part time CB. He's going to be a full time CB. And he's going to be used, situationally, in certain packages, as a WR. Chances are you are looking at....at best...a #3 WR by snaps and targets who gets you around 800 yards.

If he's an all pro CB, I don't even want him wearing, tearing, and risking injury as a #3 WR. I can find someone else.

I would draft him where I would draft an incredible CB prospect. The WR component speaks to his athleticism, his prowess as a football player...but it's not a tangible or reliable value add to the team.

I mentioned this before but I don't follow college football. As in, I just realized they are paying players now level of not following.

Is anyone up for giving me the cliff notes version why everyone is pissed at Nico Iamaleava?

Howie expounded on previous comments that he made during his "We'll never take guys who committed violence against women"

He basically said that it's not up to them to judge someone innocent or guilty based on accusations, people are innocent until proven guilty, but they always do their homework.

Mike Green back in play if he falls.

If it were up to you, we'd have Aaron Hernandez, Rae Carruth, Greg Hardy, Ray Rice, Kareem Hunt, etc. on the team.

lol no. They're actual criminals.

Mike Green has not been proven to have done anything wrong. Kind of important.

Nico is QB1 at Tennessee slated to make $2.4mil in NIL player money.

Someone else got $4.0mil as QB1 elsewhere. Nico told Tennessee he wants more money. Something like that. May have skipped some practices holding out.

Nico is out at Tennessee. Nico is now a free agent at college level with suitors rumored as maybe USC, maybe UNC - Belichick.

I don't know that everyone is pissed at Nico, but $2.4mil should have been enough.

I trust they would have really done their homework on him if they took him.

His former team (Tennessee) said "no thanks…you’re off the team” for not showing up to spring team activities because he was "holding out” for more NIL money than they originally agreed on. Basically he is the first college hold out… And I don’t think it is going well for him.

End of the first round NFL QBs make that. You are right.

He held out of a meeting for a new NIL contact from Tennessee because new top end transfer QB contracts make more than he was gonna make.

Old heads are annoyed because Tennessee gave him the first big contract out of highschool and sued the NCAA to help it stick so they expected loyalty.

Seems like the inevitable outcome of the NIL system as it is to me 🤷‍♂️. Business decision by both sides.

@VaBeach_Eagle Is there a way where if people post Youtube videos, it doesn't take up the whole screen? That posted on the board is smaller and if you want to view it large you click on it and have it take you to Youtube.

When I first posted one and it was so big, it annoyed me too and I couldn't find the Admin setting to set the size. But after a little poking around and finding nothing, I noticed something...

Paste the YouTube link into the browser like normal and it will (or should) embed and be big. But take a look at the bottom right habd corner of the video... see the little square? That's for manual resizing (same with images). So you can re-size it however you see fit.

I’m trying to remember the beginning of the NIL argument about living wages and kids wanting money to buy food… evolved quickly passed that once the foot was through the door.

In short, the NCAA has ruined college football by not having a single rule to enforce regarding the transfer portal and NIL.

He wanted more money, so he decided to hold out. Tennessee said OK, we're cutting you. Now he's in the portal and no one wants to pay him what he wants.

Boy, I hope he still gets his scholarship!

Will there be a $20.5M cap next season? Or is that more of a suggestion by the NCAA…

Eh the argument has always been "you make a ton of money off of these kids, you can't ban them from being paid for their work". Like bpac said there are no clear rules in place so this was pretty much inevitable. I'm not sure why people are acting shocked or appalled but hey.

Interesting question… I have not heard about a cap, but it does make sense. The top 5–10 schools will still find a way around it. Circumventing the salary cap in college ball will become the new "paying kids under the table”

The median NIL compensation for SEC, B10, ACC and B12 football players is $3180/yr. So, a very stratified system (as most should expect).

I honestly hate the argument that these kids make the schools this much money so they are also entitled to millions of dollars. Welcome to corporate America where the employees don't make a fraction of what the CEO does.

The original purpose of NIL was so that NCAA STUDENT ATHLETES could benefit and make money off of their name image and likeliness, hence NIL. If a players jersey is selling while they are in school, they get a cut. If a player is doing an autograph session, they get a cut. If a player is in a video game, they get a cut. If a player is offered a commercial to be the face of a brand, they can profit and so on. I'm 100% on board with this use of NIL. Let the players make money while being a STUDENT ATHLETE.

A full-ride scholarship was 4-years of school, housing and meal plans. Unlimited team clothing and gear. All the supplements you need to get in the best shape you need to be in to excel in your sport. That alone is 1/4 million dollars and then some.

What they've created instead is no holds bar, bidding wars to buy players. Does anyone even care about scholarships, GPA and getting a degree anymore? I hate what it's become. I understand that players deserve to make money and I also understand that there's always been under the table stupid money being exchanged from donor to star players. But what they've created now is unsustainable, and yes, it's ruining what college football was. I LOVE college football. It's my absolute favorite sport but I find myself hating it more and more the deeper we get in to this mess.

But he is probably the #3 CB in this draft and maybe the #4 WR. I don’t see him projecting as a pro bowler at this point. He’s not a top 10 as either and probably a second rounder as a WR at best, a late first or second round CB. I’d definitely take Johnson over him at CB and probably Revel and Barron before him and frankly, maybe Amos and Hairston. At WR, probably Golden and Egbuka before him and likely Burden and note this isn’t a very strong WR draft. He’s probably a higher ranked receiver but that is because it is a bad WR draft. But he rounds routes and on D he makes more contact than they allow in the NFL. NFL comp is Devonta and Slay. That’s an insult to Smith, who is stellar in route running and I don’t think he has Slay speed and certainly not Slay hips.

Yup.

I wonder if they'll form some kind of CBA type of deal eventually. I don't even know how that would work at the college level. But this doesn't seem sustainable.

It is kinda fun watch all this implode honestly

Nah. It is ruining a really good thing. It has fallen way off from where it once was... but this is just sad to watch.
