Controversial take

Julio shouldn't be in the hall

I don't think it's that controversial, if Steve Smith and Reggie Wayne haven't made it, why does Julio?

I know not all top 30 visits have been leaked, but anyone a little underwhelmed by their visits? I don't see a ton of names I love at DL. It's really only Ezeiruaku. A lot more Edge and DT player I thought they would've met with.

Again, we don't know all 30, so maybe they met with more. And maybe this doesn't matter, but the Eagles usually draft guys they visit with.

Names not on the visits so far: Walter Nolen, James Pearce Jr, Mykel Williams, Jihaad Campbell, Derrick Harmon, etc.

Bugler’s draft for the Eagles

1 (32). Edge Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College
2 (64). G Tate Ratledge, Georgia
3 (96). TE Harold Fannin Jr., Bowling Green
4 (134). S Lathan Ransom, Ohio State
5 (161). LB Chris Paul Jr., Ole Miss
5 (164). CB Denzel Burke, Ohio State
5 (165). DT Yahya Black, Iowa
5 (168). OT Carson Vinson, Alabama A&M

That's pretty good

What about Patrick Peterson?

I thought our drafts to visits list was sort of hit and miss, some years it's been a good indicator, other years not so much.

The Mock drafts are all over the place, I've seen us predicted to take every major position bar QB and OT at 32 with multiple choices at Edge and DT, as well as trading up and down, and there haven't been many picks that have made me go "jesus no thanks" it's not an easy draft to predict outside the top 10 at all.

I wonder about their interest in Pearce Jr because for a guy who has character or some scouts want to know how much he loves the game, I think he'd be an important guy to meet with.

From what I gather this is purely a "Jeff Lurie can't or won't put out the cash required to pay the young guys on the roster plus Goedert(and previously CJGJ)"

You appear to be quoting @RememberTheKoy Other than from RTK have you heard that said anywhere? If so where?

With that said, you do know that the NFL and the NFLPS have implemented a Salary Cap, and a Salary Cap is a "zero sum game" where the amount you pay each individual player eliminates the availability of that money for paying other players. Lurie hasn't imposed the Salary Cap, the NFL and the NFL:PA have.

What?

I'm not quoting him.

I don't think you're understanding my point. I understand how the cap works and how every team has a budget. What I'm saying is I don't believe that keeping Goedert... one player... would destroy their salary cap and their ability to re-sign all their key young guys. The local reporters are saying the Eagles want to trade him because it would.. whether it be cap-wise or cash-wise. And I'm saying Fake News to that. I don't buy it. Keeping one player not making that much money is not going to screw your future cap or cash allotments.

I think he'll get in, I think he's a very good corner and Revis got in, but is he a Woodson, Bailey or Sanders level corner? Personally I don't think so and if that's the benchmark, eh I don't know.

Brown
Smitty
Barkley
Goedert

That's the pecking order. The three guys in front of Goedert are getting paid big money already, they're all younger, Brown and Smitty don't often miss games while Goedert does, Barkley is an MVP-caliber player, and you can't have your fourth option counting close to $12 million against the cap while younger core players are needing extensions.

It's the right move. Better a year early than a year late.

Yup wayne and Smith who have almost identical numbers have better numbers than julio and all 3 have almost the same number of pro bowls all pros, with smith and julio with 2 all pros each to waynes 1.

Smith is the only triple crown winner of the 3 and the only one to to record 1000 yards with two different teams and also return punts and kicks

All 3 are 1 time super bowl losers wayne the only one to win one

If I went in order of guys to get in id go Smith Wayne Julio.

Julio being in the HOF is a combination of numbers and eye test. Eye test says he's one of the 10 best WRs in NFL history. Purely dominant physical freak. Numbers still very good. I think he deserves to be in.

Also having the NFL record for yards in a game doesn't hurt his case.

There are 36 DB in the HOF. It took Eric Allen 25 years to get in the HOF.

Eric Allen played in 16 more games than PP and has 18 more INTs with 8 TDs to PP 2 TDs. Where PP was better was in the force fumble game.

Ty Law played in 2 more games than PP and has 17 more INTs with 7 TDs.

Champ Bailey played in 12 more games than PP and has 16 more INTs with 4 TDs.

Bottom line, PP was a VERY good CB. He's not a HOF CB.

Maybe you are convincing me. He always had a huge reputation... but didn't get into the end zone that often. Maybe he's not a shoo-in.

Thats the Jalen Mills factor

Julio is an easy choice for the HOF. All-decade team. 5 all-pros. Won the yardage title twice. Best or 2nd best WR of his era (Calvin Johnson).

He had a cluster of years in the middle of his career where he was great

Then you have a WR like Evans who has 11 consecutive years of 1k+ yds

It's annoying you can't edit posts

Trade the Saint's 32 for 71 and their 2026 first then trade 64 and Goedert for 34

Deion influence.

Of course but it's still embarrassing.

Even if players are really great at a school they don't retire their numbers for a long time. This kinda sets a very low bar for future players. Any QB that comes in and plays better and/or gets Colorado to a better record will get their number retired as well? Maybe a statue?

Matt Ryan = Kirk Cousins…i think that hurt him a bit in that department. Julio is a curious case of down the line he could. I don’t see him in his first 5 years of eligibility getting in though. Then again, who from his era and those classes deserves the nod at WR?

That line of thinking is dangerous though. Maybe a certain era didn't have any worthy. I'm curious if they could ever recoup the true greatness that the HoF is supposed to be. 🤷‍♂️
