I don’t know for who in particular or what. I’d guess it would be for a pass rusher. DT/DE would both be in play but I’d lean DE is more the priority.

I think it happens just because of all the circumstances.

We have pick #32 and Howie already said there aren’t 32 players with a first round grade on their board. They have a boat load of 19-20 picks over the next two years, so I don’t think trading back to get even more would be the ideal option or all that practical. This is still a Super Bowl contending team with a loaded roster. They don’t need and probably can’t even fit all those mid round picks over the next two years on the team, so their real purpose is for trade, either in the draft or for a player. The cost of trading up is likely going to be cheap in this year and this draft specifically. And with how the offseason has been, this will be Howies chance to add an impact player where money isn’t a huge factor.

I think there are some teams like the Broncos, Texans and Vikings that are building around young QBs that would probably prefer more mid round picks that would be fine with trading down.

All the points you have made are good. But you have left out one point that I think needs to be considered. The of the 19 to 20 picks over the next two years 11 or 12 of them are in 2026. So we have a timing issue. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to spread those pics over the two years a little more evenly. To do that trading one of the 2026 picks for a 2025 pic to be able to fill out one of the roster? Now rather than a year from now seems like an idea worth considering.

For which player are you willing to do it for? Carter? Hunter?

No thank you. AJ is a rockstar. Baller.

He’ll always be 3rd rounder, except for when he’s mistaken for basically a late 2nd rounder… but definitely not a rookie anymore.

I see your point of view. You could add the Redskins to that list of teams. They, like the Vikings, are also light on picks this year.

My counter would be looking at the list of top-30 guys, only Starks and Ezeiruaku are solid first round guys. Maybe Howie is playing it close to the vest. Or maybe they have a good idea of their first round options from Combine meetings. But the economic theme of this offseason may be manifested by a concentration of day-2 picks.

It’s a possibility but they have 8 picks in 2025 currently so I don’t think they would want to add more given the state of the team. I think they would prefer quality over quantity as the roster currently stands.

I think they move some 2026 picks during the draft though. Whether it’s to move up now or acquire a 2025 pick.

Saying they have eight pics in 2026 is showing an abundance of caution, perhaps even an over abundance of caution, they really have either 11 or 12 with the compensation pics

Yeah, the 30 visits is pretty telling. Especially given the track record of Howie and draft picks usually being one of the visits. This isn’t exactly the draft that has slam dunk prospects that are clean and not needing a visit either which would make Howie playing it close to the vest surprising.

I said in 2025 they have 8 picks. 2026 is 11 or 12 picks. I just think even 8 picks might be too many for this year and this team, so if they do move 2026 picks to 2025 then there probably has been several other shoes that dropped that changes the situation.

At the end of the 2025 draft, I’d guess they end with 6, maybe 7, new players.

I wonder if they trade a 5th rounder or two for some 6th and 7th rounders in this draft. My reasoning is that with a stacked roster like ours we won't be a top choice for priority college FAs so maybe grab a few of the ones they like late in the draft.

I don't listen to the show so I didn't hear it directly, but apparently Gargano on his PHLY show has been saying the two guys the Eagles would love in this draft are Nolen or Mike Green.

In ESPNs article on the fastest risers in this Draft is the following player. Anyone have any intel on him?

Ordered a DeJean jersey. Arrived today. The way it was folded in the package, the black band at the bottom of the sleeves was stuck to the letters and numbers on the back of the jersey. There was no way to open it up other than to slowly and carefully peel it away hoping not to damage anything. Of course, damage occurred. A portion of the black was ripped away from the sleeve and left on the letters. And 2 very small marks were left on the number where I think some of the white got pulled away.

They are sending a new one out next business day, as well as a 25% off coupon. No stupid hoops to jump through sending pics of damage or anything. So I am happy with the resolution.

But another frustrating experience with fanatics.

Im guessing they threw the jersey in to the packaging too fresh and hot off the presses, so the screen printing was probably still warm and got stuck.

New England sports talk radio citing reliable sources that Eagles might trade AJ Brown to Patriots for the 4th pick if Carter drops there.

Someone from the Eagles website is monitoring the thread because it listed Steen as a 2nd round pick earlier.

@mattwill and @LeanMeanGM saw it as well.

Good convo. I agree wholeheartedly with your quality over quantity prop, which is why I can see the following scenario playing out. At 32 if Nolen or Harmon or Eziraiku or Williams are still on the Board they pounce. Starks and Pearce and Green and Campbell could also be in that list. If none are there, the Jacksonville trade 32 and 168 for 36 and 107 makes a lot of sense, although I would prefer 32 and 134 for 36 and 70 even if a 2026 7th or 6th needs to be thrown in. Then trade up into the second from 96 using a 2026 pick. So you have 36, a mid 2nd Rounder, 64 and 70. Plus 161, 164, and 165. At least one of those three 5th Round picks gets flipped for a 2026 4th or 2027 3rd.

I emailed Chris McPherson to let him know about the typo. His response was, "Thanks, I don’t know what’s worse, that Steen was a 3rdround pick or that all of those links to the player draft pages were no longer active.”

Oh. That’s not as exciting as Howie was reading the blog and the mock drafts posted here to do his draft prep.
