Schefter says keep an eye on the Eagles this weekend with trades because of all their picks in the next two drafts. He said they could trade for a veteran player and that's more likely than trading up.

This I don't quite grasp and have to call nonsense on that one. Unless it's TJ Watt or something. Even then not sure how they can fit it in cap wise.

It doesn't have to be a high pick. It could be a mid round pick for a serviceable starter that a team wants to offload to make room for a draft pick. that's if it is a pick for player trade.

Everyone knows Howie is active trading around the draft, that's never "news." So reporters just speculate at what he might do. No one knows anything for sure. Most people thought he would trade back a couple years ago from #30 and he stayed put and drafted Nolan Smith. Other times he's traded like crazy. We'll see.

As expected, getting Jurgens taken care of before the season so that's settled. Nice.

Comes in right behind Creed Humphreys deal. Seems fair although $17M for a center is high.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but I think it's an overpay. Jurgens is a good center, but his Pro Bowl is largely because the Eagles O Line as a whole is great and the best centers (other than Ragnow) are all in the AFC.

Not unpopular, just dumb

Love it, his upside is massive. Also, Pauline is the one who said the Eagles coveted Cam Jurgens and would take him in the 2nd round when most mocks had him going in the 3rd round.

I kind of figured Femi should go in the 3rd, but 64 would make sense if targeted... 32 is a bit rich, and I like him alot.

There should be an NFL award called The Howie for the best draft each year.

There's a lot of recency bias in this post. Howie has truly killed it over about the last 3 or 4 years. But that's a relatively new phenomenon. He's got some truly terrible drafts to his resume as well. I know we have a serious Philly bias, but it would much better be named "The Newsome", or perhaps the more catchy name of "The Ozzie".

I can't recall someone wanting a player to get traded more than RTK wanting AJ Brown traded

It's just jealousy. He has to eliminate the competition.

Hell he's also made some horrible contracts lol

It makes perfect sense — Howie special where we trade a low pick for a veteran on the last year of his rookie contract. It’s a great way to get a young veteran on a cost controlled contract from a team in rebuild mode.

Wasn't expecting this good news

I was expecting it some time this offseason IF they weren't scared of his back injury or he signed a very team friendly deal. As @BigEFly points out, the guaranteed money indicates that they are very confident in his back issue not being a lingering one.

DiBona went on to say there could be a of 'reaches' in rd 1 because guys in the 20-45 range are in the eye of the beholder. People who live by Kiper rankings will freak out of course.

By doing it a year early, it's likely below 'market value' when he was due to hit free agency. But this team always invests heavily on the OL. It's built in to their roster building strategy. That's going to need a little tweak here or there as they are now invested more heavily at RB and LB... but I don't see OL ever being a spot they go light on in terms of resources. The one lesson that they learned and learned well from Andy Reid (even better than he taught it) was the importance of the OL. Other positions can come and go, but if the OL is always a strength, the offense will always have a high floor.

This was me trying to get a seat on the train in Hong Kong today lol

Actually, I figured out faster than Kramer I’d end up standing

Agreed. Oladejo makes a ton of sense for Fangio’s system and as you said he’s super high upside.

I was really wondering why we hadn’t been linked with him yet.

For the CJ fanboys, the 2 guys you should most want out of this draft for our secondary are Mukuba and Kobee Bryant.

Mukuba stylistically replaces him. He plays the same position, and plays the same way as CJ. Fast. Plays like a CB, and hits hard.

Kobee Bryant brings every bit of the swagger to the secondary/defense. I just dont know if he can make it in the NFL at his size. If that wasnt a concern, he would be very high on my list of eagles targets to compete for CB2.

Adding both of those guys would be like having two CJs on the team.

I hope the Seahawks draft Cobee Bryant so he can play CB opposite Coby Bryant.

Yep. Only 21 years old and just moved to edge from off ball linebacker. He also has a little more size at 260 than guys like Smith and Ojulari who are around 240. I would prefer to trade down to the late 30's or early 40 and draft him but if they love his upside that much I am more than fine with them taking him. They have earned the benefit of the doubt over the last four drafts.

Yep, this draft is going to crazy and I can almost guarantee the Eagles will have one or two picks where people freak out and call it a big time reach. Following "draft experts" rankings in this draft is borderline pointless unless you do it just to get a VERY loose idea of the players and where they might go.

Well, my Ravens fans neighbors would tell you there would need to be an exception for WRs because, phenomenal pass catcher that he was, Ozzie couldn’t draft a good WR.

Never pass an empty seat. Kramer's problem was he angled for a corner seat when the one right next to the door was easily within his reach. Gotta take the first available.

I think the likely move would be trading up from 64.

I think in a perfect world Howie trades down from 32 to pick up more top 100 picks, then uses all the picks at his disposal to trade up for targeted players.

Howie doesn't have much of a positive track record in that department either... other than Smith, it was all big swings and misses. From Jordan Matthews to JJAW to Jalen Reagor... it was all bad.

I really like the idea of trading DOWN from 32 and trading UP from 64. I feel like early day two is where the value is in this draft. My ideal trade is 32, 64, and 134 to Seattle for 50, 52, and 92 which is really close on the trade chart.
