I never and still don't understand the hype with this guy.

Me neither, Im still scratching my head as to why this guy is hanging out in eagles locker room and with other nflers, just because he wears a stupid looking cartoon hat.

There is a lot of smoke for Campbell being seen as an Edge guy:

  • Washburn was the guy he spoke to

  • Howie made it a point to bring it up before even being questioned

  • Right now, top LBs get close to $20M. Top Edges get no less than $30M. Fifth-year option for an Edge is valuable.

  • They were aggressively trying to trade up to get him. I can't see that for another LB.

The next clue will be which position coach greets him at the facility today. King or Washburn.

I would… if they do a Dejean type trade up, I think mathematically there’s going to be some really intriguing guys around 40.

Shough, Milton, Sanders

Henderson, Sampson

Burden, Noel, Higgins

Taylor

Savainaaea, Jackson, Mbow

Emmanwori

Swesinger

All players we may have no interest in, or will almost surely be gone.

Will Johnson, Porter, Amos

Ferguson

Ezeiruaku, Scourton, Oladejo

Norman-Lott, Sanders

Watt, Mukuba, Winston

Players who may be left or move up for.

I'm in my car, this is just off the top of my head. There may be more in both categories. But that's 26 players. A move from 32 to 20 or so should net an exciting player.

I'm not sure it will be necessary.

Even better. He had a custom draft room built.

Holy crap 😂

The emperor has no clothes ……

Fangio seems to have rookies primarily learn one position their first year. Where do they put Jihaad's focus his rookie year, or do they cross train him for EDGE and LB?

Howie had a great PC last night. Granted, it's sort of easy to have a great PC when it's a double victory lap, post SB win and after landing a universally popular draft pick. But a little more insight than normal.

  1. Edge is absolutely part of the discussion for Campbell...may not be where he settles in, but they are interested in tinkering there.

  2. I did not know that NFL teams share medical evals and grades with each other. Kind of makes sense.

  3. Howie acknowledged they were trying to trade up for him earlier.

Did he say how much he was offering Packers?

You might be right - Howie basically was forced to sit on his hands last night and a good player fell to us. Could happen tonight, but I’m pretty sure Howie will be proactive in getting their guy be it at 40, 50 or 60.

Good question - very debatable.

Hybrid sounds good to me (however you’d characterize Zach Baun).

This is hilarious and Giants just blew that pick.

The only thing I learned last night was that he loves Star Wars. Rather than show his highlights, they showed a minute long clip devoted to his love of Star Wars.

I just listened to Howie's press conference from last night. Howie was uncharacteristically frank.

It's very clear his projection as an edge factored into the pick. He specifically mentioned that Campbell was an edge and played off ball at Alabama due to other injuries. He specifically mentioned Parsons as a college off ball LB who transitioned to edge very effectively in the pros. It was a long, direct conversation about Campbell at edge.

But he also made it clear they are going to try to weaponize him and see what fits and works.

I think the best comps are are Parsons and, in a weird way, Cooper Dejean. They drafted Dejean because he was, by far, the best player on their board. No one knew if he'd fit best at outside CB, nickel CB, S...or where we really needed him. As it turns out, inside CB was where it worked. But that wasn't set in stone when they drafted him. Campbell may end up off ball only, edge only, or something in between. I think they are going to be fluid with it.

Well said.

New language from Howie: reading the NBC Sports Philly article, with Fangio playing a big role in the draft, Howie has transitioned from saying we always prioritize the lines to "We always want to improve the front 7..." Thanks Vic for changing a mindset and thanks Howie for listening.

DT is one position that seems to be running dry at high end talent and might necessitate a trade up. Sanders, Lott-Norman, Alexander then...?

The rest of the positions still seem pretty flush, unless maybe they're in love with Taylor. EDGE and CB have good depth. Safety is a bit thin now too but I don't think they'd make a big move up for a Safety.

I want them to target their guy and get him. If they have to move up to do so at the cost of a 3rd but maybe get a 4th/5th in return, so be it. Get the players you want rather than waiting.

I could see that. I was also thinking how current injuries could have an impact. Dean isn't expected to be back until later in the season, and would they trust Trotter Jr. enough? Who will be starting next to Baun come week 1?

I could see him playing LB primarily at first. He has an easier path to playing time, and he can still rush the passer. I don't know if they will have him line up with his hands in the dirt just yet.

Ideally, I’d want him playing next to Baun on Week 1 - we’ll see if the injuries interfere with that. Vic won’t rush it.

2021: Devonta, Dickerson

2023: Carter, Nolan

2024: Quinyon, DeJean

3 of 4 years their 2nd picks were 1st round level, co-headliner types.

That type is already pretty much out of their range. Emmanwori maybe if he continues to fall is the closest thing. Otherwise, I think Mason Taylor might be Plan A.

Not sure where Donovan E or Scourton or Michigan CB wind up… but it’s very easy imagining Howie talking about how he had a 1st round grade on them (and he might mean it).

Well, we'll find out just how much the Eagles view him as an Edge guy based on what else they do at the position the rest of the draft. I still think it's the biggest need.

Where'd you see that?

Gainwell with a huge upgrade as a Steeler

Some guy on Twitter posted a pic of locker room stalls that showed Dotson as 2 and Ringo as 7. It was retweeted by Anthony DiBona.

Howie said Campbell was a top 10 player on their board.

Well, this time of year Howie is known to stretch the truth a bit. But I did have him as a top 15 pick pre injury.

It amazes me how the Ravens almost always stay put and players who are perfect for them just fall in to their laps.

Twitter is such a POS, it says I can't view tweets because I viewed the max number per day whatever that means lol.

Nolan was 2022 with JD (and he was the third pick after Beefy Jurgy)

2023 we traded out of the 2nd and took Sydney+Steen in the third
