It’s a slippery slope now as every team already passed on him…

DT or Edge, not TE is my guess. If they go TE at all I don’t expect it to be until Saturday.

I sense a DL run early in rd 2

I would be thrilled to add Taylor but corner is probably a smarter pick. Dont see a safety i love day 2

A summary of some of the comments on Campbell. Like watching something interesting unfold knowing the result.

As for me. The Eagles drafting a LB in Round 1 after CB in round 1 last year? Am I in a dream world? The schematic flexibility brings with Campbell, behind that DL? Gonna give some teams nightmares.

Yup, the comparison was to Baun who we just gave a relatively big contract to. To be real there’s some injury concerns, and Campbell needs to get better at reading the run, taking on blocks and improving his awareness in zone… nothing very unusual for LBs coming into the league these days.

No top 30 visit, only met with Campbell at the combine, they were covert operatives this year.

Howie said everything I actually thought about in regard to Campbell and their vision on defense.

There's fast explosive QB's and players in the backfield in the league and they need front 7 guys that can run and tackle. Jahaad provides that and great versatility.

Plus he plays physical with that edge this defense has adopted. A+ pick I feel.

Not to take away but there's a question about his knee and Schefter said he may need surgery after the season, not sure what's all about.

Yup

When i think of the great 3-4 defenses one of the biggest challenges in playing them was that almost anyone could be coming on any given play.

Good long term pick as you get a three down player on the cheap and can pay him when Baun moves on three seasons later

Give me Winston Jr tomorrow and I’m happy.

He's absolutely on my wish list. Though I would be ok with kicking the can on safety to day 3 if we have a handshake deal with Simmons/Blackmon. I'd look to a versatile d-lineman or a secondary piece now. But I guess we couldn't hate a TE or G either. I'd love to just give Goedert an extension somehow, that would eliminate one of the major needs while keeping the high level play from the position.

Yeah, Dean looks to be on his way out but Trotter isn’t going anywhere. He’s now the depth LB

I think some of you are putting the cart in front of the horse.

I’m about 90% sure they will try to make Campbell an Edge.

He’s only 21 yearsold so it would be easy for him to put on 15 pounds of muscle at that age.

And at 6’3 250 he’s an Edge in this system at the NFL level.

Combine that with his RAS - it’s a no brainer - they drafted him to play Edge.

Jonah Saviianaea.

I want. Plug and play RG.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

They witnessed first hand one of the few things the Cowboys have done very, very right in recent years…the utilization of Micah Parsons. They are clearly aware of the parallels there. So I don’t think they draft a LB round 1 without an awareness of that.

Exactly.

I think Vic will try to get our best guys on the field by having Campbell out there at MIKE for significant snaps (maybe 90% eventually) rather than Trot Jr.

I feel awful for Nakobe though.

I dunno, I still think he has a future here. Jihaad Campbell is 21, Nakobe Dean is still just 24. If they can bring Dean back on a team friendly deal while he's still recovering, I think the two of them could still be the LB of the future. Baun is here at least 2 more years, then in 2027, when he's 31, they can move on from him.

Campbell can also be a pass rusher so having all three LB on the field at the same time shouldn't be overlooked.

Happy with the Jihaad Campbell pick and happy they got the first round done while my plane hasn’t taken off yet.

Please tell me Shadeur was waiting in the green room and the networks showed him sitting there at least a hundred times. Giants knew Dart was the better prospect and knew the Rams would take him at #26 as I guessed a couple of months ago. Not too worried as an Eagles fan, though. I think Dart will be good, not great.

If the Giants had traded up to take Sanders it might have made my day, though.

Even better. He had a custom draft room built.

Not sure what it is, but just a meh for me.

Meanwhile Orlavskys tweet of the espn reactions is gold. Inject it into my veins lol

I’m not saying that could not happen eventually but that’s only if he doesn’t work out at Edge, imo.

Like @eagle45 said - as much as everyone may think Howie/The Eagles love the LB position all of a sudden by picking a LB in the 1st round - they still value Edge highly - likely enough to pursue making Campbell an Edge, imo. I’d be surprised if that’s not the case.

Barnett was universally loved by all except me. I got universal hate for that.

Many loved Smith, but not universal. Im still shocked by people thinking he was slow.

Mitchell may be the most universally loved pick ever.

Do you really think your Barnett take is why we all hate you? smoke

Jihaad was one of the few I watched film on and what stuck out to me is that he looked like a bigger, faster and stronger version of Dean.

Maybe there's more to Dean's injury, or the Eagles are just generally concerned with his frame with his injury history.

Very excited for Jihaad Campbell. The fact Howie tried to trade up to the early 20's for him tells me the Eagles probably had a 1st round grade on him, and he somehow fell right in their lap!

I don’t think the Campbell pick affects Dean or Trot at all really. I’m more interested in what role a guy like Jalyx Hunt will play.

Wonder where the Eagles go with their 2nd round pick — TE, DT?

I won't be shocked to see us trade a 2026 pick to move up and draft a certain safety.

The draft coverage has officially lost me. All I want is to see the picks along with highlights and a breakdown of the new team fit. Can't wait to see the parade of people announcing picks the rest of the draft!

Oh and like clockwork, commercial before the Eagles pick last night. Gotta be a record.

Don't worry, you'll get all that footage and those breakdowns about the players picked last night while players are being selected today and tomorrow. They may even catch you up occasionally with a mention of the last 5 or 6 selections that were made while they were recapping round 1.
