Scheelhaase wasn't even a pass game coordinator at the time, just a pass game specialist. He got a lot of OC interviews.

Nick Caley was PGC for the Rams and is now OC for Houston. Houston also interviewed Brian Johnson one year after being PGC.

Lions new OC was the Broncos PGC.

Jets new OC was the Lions PGC.

That's just this cycle and doesn't include internal promotions like Eagles, Bucs and Browns did.

Might be more of a newer trend but they definitely draw interest. Feels like they overtook QB coach in the hiring hierarchy.

Didn't realize there were that many.  Only one I've heard about was Caley to Houston.

Ringo has actually performed fairly well as an outside CB.  He is a good tackler and is physical with receivers.  What experience will give him is an ability to anticipate routes and make up for some of his lack of hip flexibility.  I think he has potential to be an above average CB especially in a zone system that allows him to react to a route.

This is one of the downsides of losing the DBs assistant coach.  It would be best for Ringo to have continuity in coaching

The Eagles met with Pitt S Donovan McMillon at the Hula Bowl, per Ryan Fowler.
Donovan McMillon is a notable 2025 NFL Draft prospect. Standing at 6’2” and weighing 205 lbs, he transferred from Florida after two seasons, where he contributed mainly on special teams. At Pitt, he emerged as a standout, leading the team with 105 tackles in 2023 and 115 tackles in 2024, earning Second-Team All-ACC honors in his final year. Known for his physicality, tackling reliability, and downhill play, McMillon excels as a box safety with strong run support skills. While not elite in coverage due to some stiffness, he’s projected as a mid-to-late-round pick, potentially a Day 3 selection, with traits suited for a special teams role and depth at safety. His pro comp is often likened to a hybrid safety/linebacker type.

Thank you. That was sweet. Truly.

I think a lot of that had to do with the tougher, longer, harder practices.  Go figure.

So just great. Turns out I don’t have only @HazletonEagle to thank for motivating Hurts, I also have to thank @bpac55 (and Vic Fangio) for demanding tougher, longer, harder practices from Nick.  Oh, the power of the EMB. (Of course, you - and a few other posters - deserve thanks for straightening out Howie after he picked Reagor instead of Jefferson.)

Maybe it’s because I’m a fossil, but I harken back to the old days, when QBs called their own plays. Some of those guys were pretty good. Johnny U, Bart Starr, a ton of others. Then the control freaks took over. Head coaches. Offensive coordinators. Did they do a better job? I’m not sure. Andy Reid calling an infinitude of pass plays in one of the ugliest games I can remember- against Cleveland, I think. I could go on ad nauseam but I want to throw this out there. Why not have Hurts call his own plays? With a game plan, of course, still have the helmet mic, just let the reins loose a little, or a lot. He’s got all these plays in his head and he’s out there, knowing what’s happening. Is his LG hurting? What is the DE doing and can we let him get away with it? Did the CB pull something and is trying to hide it? Does the WR see a go route open off play action? Etc. Hurts already does some of that when we go no-huddle.

During the bye, the players convinced the coaches to go run heavy. The coaches said OK. That’s a step toward giving the players calls back to them.

Teams basically go into a game with maybe 10-15 plays to run most of the time. The rest are situational stuff and you can do that through the helmet. Am I nuts to think Hurts might be well prepared to call his own plays?

Yeah, I'd hope something like 3 years, $30-ish gets it done.

That is my expectation as well … with performance escalators at the end of his first season as starting Right Tackle … if that happens

Don't they give Hurts 2 plays and he audibles from one to the other at the LOS?

But Baun for $10/30M we know won't happen. Howie has to sign him with Dean being uncertain. I don't think Dean should be seen as a long term piece as of yet here because of that. One year at a time with him. Trotter could step up and take the Dean role and not cost anything for next 3 years.

A couple of factors affect what we do at LB.

(1) In all likelihood Howie has injury insurance on Dean.  If so, his $1.6 million Cap hit will come back as an adjustment if he misses (as expected) the whole season.

(2) Re-signing Baun is the most "must do” item on Howie’s plate

(3) BVS may be coming back, but possibly only on Offense and STs

(4) So Baun and Trotter are the only two ILBs if (1) above happens.

(5) That makes re-signing Burks highly likely.

(6) Off-ball LB becomes a draft priority.  I’ve really warmed up to the idea of Jiihaad Campbell as the BPA at pick #32.  He is very similar to Baun in that he is a OLB ILB hybrid, with solid pass rushing skills as well as all the skills of an elite Off-ball LB.  As such he checks the "after Sweat” box.  However, he may not be on the Board at #32, and later possibles are Georgia’s Smael Mondon and Oregon’s Jeffrey Bassa, and possibly UCLA’s Oluwafemi Oladejo.

A lot of people really like Walter Nolen. Doubt he's there at 32 though.

I wish there would have been a way to save this ship. I know the SS United States Conversation group tried, but it also seems like they wasted a lot of money. It would have taken an enormous investment, but the Queen Mary is quite the tourist destination and hotel now. Sad that the SS America eventually ran aground off the Canary Islands and is rotting away and the United States is going to be sunk.

It doesn't matter how many years you spend with a specific team. You can be in the league 4 years under 4 different teams. As long as you have an accrued season, that's all that matters.

It looks like OTC just never updated him. They have him at 3 accrued seasons but I just don't see how they can say 3 when he clearly has had 4.

Spotrac has it the same as OTC … RFA in 2025 and UFA in 2026

Let them

If the Eagles lose both Sweat nd Milt they have to sign someone for the DL in free agency. Maybe not a blue chip guy, but they can’t go into the draft with the current group minus both of them. Especially if BG retires. You’d be down 3 top guys from 2024. Would be precarious. I’d like to see Chase Young with a guy like Fangio. I haven’t given up on him s a player even though he’s been relatively a bust so far. I still think his physical tools are off the charts. Maybe they’d bring in a guy like Mack to replace the BG role as a veteran.

Was against Bengals in a Typhoon, he called something like 60 pass plays ...😒

Surprised the OC move is unpopular.  Everyone who said I’d complain after the SB was wrong.

1. At this point, if they named Blippi the OC, I’d go with it.

2. Don’t fight the life cycle.  If you want to win multiple SBs and be a dynasty, you do it by moving forward.  You promote from within when someone earns it and you win a SB.  Looking for someone with experience calling plays from a team that hasn’t won squat isn’t going to help much.

3. This does bring the most continuity.

4. I didn’t want Reich as OC, but it’s going to be fashionable to want him here as a consultant.  I don’t think he’s going to get better offers anyway.  So it seems to make sense.

That is a really well done video.  Well worth the watch.

Earlier today I listened to Mina Kimes podcast assessing the SB.  Also well worth the listen
