I will open the Camps and Pre Season Blog tomorrow.

Another thing RTK didn't correctly predict in the face of the entire blog saying otherwise.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

I like Ty Robinson as a Big DE in the 3 DL scheme far more than Jackson, who is basically BG sized. Did not like Jackson’s bend. I like what Hunt showed last year more than I like Stewart. (Hunt is actually bigger and so is Huff. Stewart as an OLB in coverage is basically Huff.). I remain a bit curious about Gabe Hall. (Who already is at 96, pardon the fluke observation.). Has the athleticism for big DE/DT type. Hurtt basically ran a 3 DL scheme and Fangio tend towards that. Note the "DE” the Eagles lost, Sweat, changed his number and designation to LB last year. I really think that Fangio wants OLBs that can set the edge not Edges that can’t drop in coverage. I also think he wants some DTs that can slide outside to big DE.

Honest NFL said Robinson reminded him of another former Nebraska DL, Adam Carikker, who played inside and outside effectively in the NFL. I definitely think we'll see Robinson deployed as the end in odd fronts, or have him play inside and let Carter work on the outside like we occasionally did with Fletcher Cox and the Chiefs do with Chris Jones. Fangio's the kind of DC who likes and knows how to exploit versatility to keep offenses guessing.

Re: Mukuba. He was the best zone safety in the draft. The problem is that he's small. Well, we have monsters on the DL and just drafted a big ILB on top of it. Our slot CB is also very big for his position. Our two starting CBs are well-above average in size.

For a heavy zone team and one that can stop the run with 6-7 players, Mukuba is a great fit. If Drew has to make 5-10 tackles a game, then we're dead anyway.

@ManuManu said Mukuba was 194 at his pro day. Q, as I stated is 6’ 193. Mukuba is bigger than McLeod. I suspect Mukuba lost weight to run a sub 4.5 forty at the Combine. Frankly, the only small thing I worry about with Mukuba is his 30” arms.

It wasn't about trading up for them. Like I said watching it that's how it felt especially with the Ravens and Bills who seemed to draft very well. Each round teams got good players ahead Howie. He did well with what he had to work with.

Agreed.

I understand picking up Davis’ option, but the expectation better be to play more snaps at the very least. I’m sure a big part of picking up the option is the hope/gamble that he becomes a better rusher and the $13M salary becomes a bargain.

What does bigly mean? I’ve seen it several times here but nowhere else

It is the adverb of the word "big”

Looks like today is the fish or cut bait day for J Davis and the 5th year option.

That sounds fishy to me.

I would add that a small part of keeping him around is to help keep Carter focused.

Barkley averaged 2.5 ypc in a pretty important game last season and we still seemed to manage okay offensively.

What Hurts and the O showed in that game was a "pick your poison” dilemma for the opposing Defensive Coordinator. To be fair, the performance by the Eagles Defense put the Offense in a good position to shine. The epitome of a team win.

That's an expensive investment in a different player.

Boom! Take that haters😁 j/k - definitely feels like Plan B, where a modest extension would have been preferable (but everybody seems to be getting paid these days).

I hope not. Keeping a player on the team just because he's buddies with another is a horrible decision lol

The Eagles were comfortable picking Carter in the draft because of the Georgia ecosystem he was joining. He is the most impactful player on the team.

The concept of overpaying a million or two to keep the likes of Davis and Dean around to ensure that your most valuable asset on defense stays in line isn't a horrible decision.

Eagles carried Danny Gray on the PS all season and resigned him to a futures contract. One of the beats had a column where they asked Eagles players about the scout team players that really helped them and several secondary players mentioned Gray. Had some drops at SMU and played half his college career at Blinn. Real nice speed and agility but a bit raw when drafted by the whiners in the third round. I think A. Smith competition in TC. Both could be in the mix as returners.

I believe with rookie camp this weekend, the Birds have one roster spot open. Last year, the invites included some veteran players. Teams can invite five veterans. Curious if Howie does that again.

I think he needs to better all around snaps, pressure etc. But I don't he really needs to be that much better to justify that NFL salary just a reasonable amount.

I think it is more of a combo of the importance of his role in the Fangio D despite the number of snaps combined with the desire to not disrupt the Georgia thing. More snaps and more pass rush is just the icing should it happen.

A lot of money to pay for a rotational interior DL that was getting out snapped by Ojomo, but whatever. At least he's providing more of an impact than Huff.

DT set for next two seasons.

It's probably not an overpay given what Milton Williams got in NE.

He's really good in College Football 25(I don't actually play sports games, I only bought it recently because it was on sale on Amazon for $5 so I said what the hell and decided to play as UNC for some reason).

Eagles were comfortable picking Carter because he was a top prospect that only dropped because the car accident. He had vets like Cox to keep him in line at the time

Not even the same thing but agree to disagree lol
