Lurie must be cash strapped. nonono I hate this.

Once upon a time, fans could go to Training Camp any day they wanted for free and enjoy it together... roam freely about checking out the different drills... catching up with other fans. Then Chip Kelly came and they went to NovaCare only... and opened up 'Flight Night' for free. But now they are charging people? nonono. As a kid, my parents couldn't afford tickets, but once a summer my dad would make sure that I'd get a day at TC. What do kids do now to see the team up close?

I can't tell how much you are joking but they have been charging for these things for like close to 10 years now.

Jayden Daniels is one of the most annoying discussions because people take it too far one way or the other and never have an honest opinion.

He's either the best QB in the NFC or he's a bust who wasn't even good.

Bengals are apparently changing the language of the contract to void future guarantees

It just seems like a dumb hill for the Bengals to die on with their pick.

One of the things I'm going to enjoy watching next season is the Daniels and Commies bandwagon crashing and burning. It's going to be a joy to follow all season long. Major fall from grace season incoming.

I don't know what removing void years would do. @vikas83 ?

It's interesting to do to your first rounder though

Edit: not sure why I typed void years. They changed language to void future guarantees according to https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2025/06/11/shemar-stewart-holding-out-bengals-rookie-contract/84146501007/

The joke ended at Lurie being cash strapped. I don't like the limited access fans have now, and I HATE that the limited access they have now includes a charge. I know it costs money to have the stadium opened up to allow the fans in... but this is short sighted.

My memory being what it is, I likely make this same complaint every year when this news breaks.

Not bad for a rookie

You're getting numbers from ESPN NFL.com etc. They're all fake.

Interesting possible issue from the House settlement. Think this impacts college basketball, hockey, field and track, soccer and even baseball more than football because football is still a highly American sport. I do think the House revenue, plus a college degree, plus NIL will lessen the amount of players coming out early. Fewer Ewers and more Becks.

The contracts are a crap show. I don't think they are using attorneys to write them. One of the attorneys I work with reviews them for student athletes for a flat fee. They routinely try to include pretty honerous and unenforceable provisions. The other problem is the universities are hell bent on not categorizing these paid athletes as employees. It's a losing argument. It's likely a big misclassification error with tax penalty consequences for the universities. At some point, some excess carrier is going to have a claim against the University on the misclassification issue.

I use profootballreference because the site is less congested and pretty simplistic for just looking at stats IMO. I don't like nfl.com anymore

What site do you use?

I do my own stats. They're the stats I go by and those only. Stat sites boost stats of teams and players for marketing and propaganda purposes.

Interesting. Where do you get the data?

He's "rated" similarly to CJGJ, this may he his only opportunity to cash in. He is likely a good person, but that won't get in the way of trying to get his bag. He's made about $4.5 million in his career, 75% of that is his upcoming 2025 salary. Top tier safeties are getting $15+ annually. If he is 2nd tier, as many think, his asking price starts at $8-$10+ million annually. I don't think the Eagles can pay that. Choices for the future (Carter, Smith, DeJean, Mitchell- maybe Hunt) are all more important than Blankenship.

I think Blankenship is better than he's given credit for, he was one of the few to perform at a decent level in 2023, his performance was actually worse with CGJ there. I don't think 8-10 mill is an overpay for him, I think he's the sort of quiet solid pro that always takes care of his job that you miss a lot more than you think you would when he's not there.

Agreed about the limited access. It’s a huge detriment and all about killed what training camp was used to be about. On top of that, they are over the top strict with what the beat writers can even show or do. All the Eagles provide is once a week stretching, pictures of players getting water ice or videos of social media trends.

Even with these "open practices” they cut them down to 3 to now just 1 a year for a few years now. The only redeeming quality about them is the money goes to charity.

Any chance they keep this?

It doesn’t have anything to do with void years, the Bengals in essence want to include language that would let them void his guaranteed money later down the line.

It’s a ridiculous ask of them considering the CBA and other players near his draft slot not having this language.

Correct. I was looking at an article and it said

According to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals "are trying to change the language in the contract for their first-round pick that allows the team to void future guarantees."

Not sure why I typed void years

We have two super bowls to make up for limited access.

Agreed. Also, it's been only 1 season. IMHO, you need at least 3 seasons to fully evaluate a QB.

We've seen Allen going from bottom 5 to top 3.

We've also seen Stroud going from amazing to average.

And then there's Wentz going from top 5 to unemployed.

Consistency is the hardest to achieve in the NFL.

1 hour ago, Freshmilk said:

Yeah, I'll disagree. I think he is limited. That does not make for an awful player, and can make a decent player, just one that isn't a priority in a capped sport.

You are assessing a factor that is tangential to how well he plays on the field.

Position value is a major factor in a capped sport. The following table and graph of the value of the non-QB positions shows clearly where Safety lands.

That makes Howie’s job in negotiating with Blankenship much easier. He can have his cake and eat it too.

To be fair Stroud had a sophomore slump and still put up 63.2% 3727yds 20TD

He's good and he likely deserves the 8-10 million you mention. That said, I guess Howie knows it's going to take 20-25+ million contracts to keep DeJean and Mitchell. Safety is an "easier" position to find, so if Reed doesn't fit budget-wise, he'll be let go.

So what do you have as Daniels’ stats? What do you attribute the difference to?
