Not really related to Covey but Rams might be the biggest threat.

Could be. Their point differential was negative in 2024. They played the Eagles tougher than anyone in the playoffs, but also I think the snow negated some of the Eagles strengths and the Eagles probably blow them out in normal conditions. I think they were probably better than their point differential indicated though, they battled some injuries. And Stafford could decline at any moment. I think they'll be in the mix with the Packers and Lions again. I'm predicting a major drop off from the Commies.

Thank you. And shortly after I wrote that I saw your post clarifying. Sorry, I'm still catching up, we had a birthday party for our 4 year old Sunday so I am WAY behind

Yeah Stafford's health or decline are big risks for them.

Also just to clarify, draft position has nothing to do with the 5th year option anymore. The base value is determined by the average of the 3rd to 25th highest salaries at their position over the last 5 years.

Packers are frauds.

Lions it will be interesting how they adapt to losing both coordinators. I'm expecting a drop for them. On the flip side they should theoretically have better injury luck. I think they will be around a 11 win team.

The top competition in the NFC for the Eagles is going to be the Rams, Redskins, Vikings and Bucs.

I think the Falcons are also going to take a step forward this year and maybe be the surprise team that is in contention for the top seed at the end of the season.

Interesting tidbit from Roob today.

"The Eagles brought in speedy wide receiver Ife Adeyi from Sam Houston State as a tryout guy in rookie camp. How fast is Adeyi? He ran 4.28 at his pro day. Adeyi had 30 catches for 271 yards and nine carries for 76 yards last year for the Bearkats. Adeyi had the game-winning 10-yard TD catch from Eric Schmid when Sam Houston beat South Dakota State 23-21 to win the FCS Championship in Frisco, Texas, in 2021. Interesting note about Adeyi: In 2018, as a junior at Legacy High in Mansfield, Texas, he ran on the 400-meter relay team that won the Texas 5A state championship in 40.17, still one of the fastest times in U.S. history. (Anchor runner for 2nd-place Thurgood Marshall High of Missouri City was De’Von Achane, now with the Dolphins.) Leadoff runner for Mansfield Legacy that day was Jais Smith, whose father Lamont was an Olympic gold medalist on the U.S. 4-by-4 team in Atlanta in 1996. Lamont graduated from Willingboro High School in South Jersey, a lifelong Eagles fan.”

Though Davis has been a disappointment for someone who was drafted 13th overall

The Rams are just a completely schizophrenic team IMO -- they can beat anyone, and they can lose to anyone. They put up 44 to beat the Bills, everyone got excited, and then 12, 19 and 13 against the 49ers, Jets and Cards to close out the season (ignoring week 18 when they played backups). I never know what to expect from them. If they make the playoffs, Stafford still can go on a heater and carry them. But they could also get shut out. Nothing surprises me with that team. My main takeaway is...they're soft. I think we can bully them again and again on the ground.

I think Washington misses the playoffs. Comically overhyped. 8 one score wins, including the haily mary against the Bears, last second against us w/o Hurts and CJGJ, last second stop against ATL and Mariota beating Dallas. They added over the hill guys with names (Deebo and Tunsil). And everyone slobbering over Daniels who was good, not great.

The Lions will be the challenge in the NFC.

Cheap?

He's 2.5x more expensive than VanSumeran. Who pays more for their insurance policy than their asset costs?

Not comparing him to BVS. Jusczyk is a proven FB but also used as a weapon touching the football, and lines up all over the formation.

For his production, and great versatility he is a bargain.

BVS has about 2 touches in his NFL career. As such is basically just a blocker so far. I suspect the Eagles will want to expand his role. But as of now he's not in the same zip code as Jusczyk.

And, as I said, Jusczyk would be more than insurance for the FB spot. He would have a role in the offense touching the ball.

I suspect he isn't here now, more because of his own preference to stay in SF rather than a lack of interest from the Eagles.

Already were and had a very nice draft

I don't think they weather made the game closer. The biggest negative impact on that game for the Eagles was Quinyon Mitchell leaving the game early with an injury.

I forget which reporter it was said the other day they still think Huff will be traded and they will eat the money. Otherwise, is he just gonna ride the bench for the entire season?

Made me think of the top position battles in camp:

RG - Green vs Steen... vs everyone else

Safety - Mukuba vs Brown

CB - Ringo vs Jackson

EDGE3/4 - Ojulari vs Uche vs Huff(could he even earn a spot given 2024?)

ILB2 - Trotter vs Mondon(if Campbell starts on PUP)

TE2(if Goedert stays) - Calcaterra vs Granson vs Bryant - to a lesser extent, I think Calc probably has TE2 close to locked up if not completely.

QB3 - McCord vs DTR

Any other notable battles?

Edge? OLB. Eagles list three DE on their charts, BG (who will retire 6/1), Huff and KJ Henry (a PS holdover). We are stuck with 4/3 concepts but Fangio doesn’t run a 4/3. He runs a 3 hand in the dirt scheme. Those three can be any of the DTs or a combination of DTs and OLBs. While the OLBs may look like edges, that’s not Fangio. Fangio wants the OLBs to be able to drop into coverage and that enables his ILBs to pursue the QB at times. He really seems focused on versatility to allow as many disguises as possible. Nickels that can play outside and like a SS against the run. Ss with CB skillsets. LBs that can cover, control gap responsibilities regardless of whether an ILB or OLB.

Huff won’t survive on the team as a DE. He needs to be able to play OLB. That means gap discipline, sealing the edge, the ability to drop into coverage enough to keep the OC guessing and, of course, the ability to squeeze the pocket and pressure the QB. The inability to do the former is why he lost time as the season went on.

All of the above makes you wonder why they drafted APR.

I actually like Ringo in 7. Now, it would be nice if he can lock down CB2 and have a long career here so we can associate a number with him. Otherwise, he's just a CB who's worn 3 different numbers in 3 years (counting preseason when he was 37).

On the other hand, 2 isn't it for Dotson. I understand skill position players all wanting to wear single digits, but it doesn't fit him at all. Maybe it still has some Slay left on it, but somethign about it looks off. He would have been better off going with 13 or 14.

I have big doubts if the Lions can be the same without Johnson at OC

We don't have enough touches to go around for the guys that we have now. 🤷‍♂️

So no happy ending

Wow. They really have no expectations for Terrance Marshall.

I still don't get letting Covey go. I'm not going to lose sleep over it but he became a very underrated PR who was super reliable. I also thought there was the potential for him to be used a little bit more as a WR in the slot.
