Did you know that Manning’s longest run was longer than another Indy (and Clev) great’s? Manning’s was 33 yards for a TD, Trent Richardson’s was 32.

Peyton lulled them to sleep his entire career to set up that moment.

What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately. The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental He

In 2017, I agree with HE. After that, I agree with you.

Water under the bridge at this point..it got us our 1st SB and a few years later he turned out to give us probably the 2nd greatest trade in NFL history. Depending on how the next few years pan out, it could possibly be the greatest.

I remember an uncharacteristic ‘long’ run against the Eagles by him…so went to google to see what his longest run was (week 8, can’t remember the year against the bills) and AI gave the tidbit about Trent, which i found hilarious.

Little bit of nostalgia

Wentz' 2017 season was the greatest (albeit partial) season by an Eagles' QB in my lifetime (and that includes Foles' 27-2 year and Randall's 1990 campaign). He wasn't the same after the ACL. He seemed to be chasing ghosts after that. Then the head shot in 2019 just destroyed everything that was left.

It’s one of the big "what if’s” in Philadelphia sports history. The ACL and Foles winning the SB was strike one. Wentz hurting his back and Foles stepping in again to win a playoff game didn’t help. The Clowney hit and forcing him out of the playoff game was strike two. Drafting Hurts was strike 3 for his mental state that his physical abilities couldn’t keep up with.

I think it’s impossible at this point to argue the what if vs the what happened. But it’s interesting to think about.

The biggest question in all of this is exactly when did the Eagles' brass figure out that it wasn't going to work with Wentz and moved to Plan B.

The Eagles gave Wentz a HUGE contract in June 2019. Then they drafted Hurts in April 2020. Did the Eagles figure it out in those 10 months and then wait for it to play itself out later that season and try not to destroy his trade value? Or was the Hurts selection really about having a backup under control and a cheap contract for the next 4 years because Wentz had shown himself to be fragile? And when was the final tipping point? Was it before the move was made on the field at the end of the 2020 season? And ultimately, who's call was it?

I wonder if we'll ever get the full behind the scenes story. That would be quite the book.

Maybe once he is retired he will talk about it. Of course, thats just 1 side.

Its interesting all the stuff you heard about his jealousy of Foles, but yet those 2 seem to get along.

On the other hand Sproles seems to still hate Wentz.

May have been more of a locker room rift rather than just some individuals.

I've chalked it up to Wentz needing all of his physical advantages to maintain his play style. He very often threw late and high. He got hit all the time. In 2017, he converted 3rd and longs better than any Eagles QB I've seen. His 3rd down and RZ % were in the top echelon all time. He always came off as a good kid in life, but a guy who's always gotten his way on a football field and didn't expect that to change. It was never sustainable.

Honestly, the fact that Josh Allen has maintained that kinda play style for as long as he has is a miracle.

Yeah... but those other games were all nationally televised on 'regular' cable networks or over the air TV.

nonono.

BTW, I might need some help come the first weekend of October. I'll be in Sleepy Hollow, NY celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary and I'll need either a way to get the game or to find a sportsbar that would have the Eagles on. (I checked and both the Jets and Giants also play at 1PM that Sunday.). @NYEagle

So the NYEagle name was born when I was living in NYC 30 years ago and like 4 Boards ago lol...I'm now in Central NJ (Freehold) and not sure what advice to give on bars that might have it, especially since I stopped drinking like 20 years ago!! A LOT HAS CHANGED SINCE BACK THEN!! :)

I don't think he's seen as the best option, he's just a short-term placeholder so the others can focus on where they'll play during the season.

So Steen stays at RG, Pryor and Kinnard swing between G and T and Lamm at LT.

The disappointment is Keegan, had he shown enough to impress Stout, he'd probably have been given time with the 1st and start the next exhibition game to see how far he's progressed.

I’ll let JR tell me my eyes were wrong, but Dickerson was easily our best OL last year.

Dickerson is unquestionably our best run blocker and the key to the Tush Push.

Lets go no injuries

Id say Wentz was even better than Josh Allen. Like, Josh Allen without the occasional misfires and bonehead plays.

Allen threw 6 INT and was sacked 14 times last year. Allen craps on Wentz especially when he comes to sacks

Again, thought we were talking about pre-injury wentz.

Yep and I'm afraid if Jalen Hurts doesn't perform well today it will prove that we can never win a Super Bowl with him

I was hoping for a TC trophy like Paul Buyan's Axe - maybe the Rust Belt.

I wonder if Jeffery Lurie is charging the Browns to use the facilities.

I skip over that just like all the New Heights ads today for the Taylor Swift episode. McMullen occasionally throws out a nugget from his practice summaries that suggests he understands football plays. But there are Beats I unfollow at certain times.

I forgot he was on the Browns. He’s been around a lot the last few years.

And Duce is still just a RB coach? Seriously, why can't this guy get a shot at something more? His stagnant position within the league is wild to me, lol.

Regarding Wentz, I think Howie drafted Hurts to be a competent backup, and maybe trade bait down the line. I doubt he really saw the true potential, but who knows?

looking at becton’s contract, if he just doesn’t do well this year he can be cut next offseason for $10 mil cap savings and $2.5 mil dead money hit.
