The new pope is a Villanova grad.

Shame they suck now. Would be awesome to watch him in the stands for the NCAA final. Sucks even more he isn't from Philly. I'm not catholic but it would be hilarious to hear the pope say "go birds".

They lost LIV, so he didn't.

You can outplay someone and still lose the game. For reference, see Burrow, Joe at several points last season.

Good Lord, Mahommes is a 2x MVP, 3x First Team All-Pro, 3x SB winner and MVP, averaging just shy of 300 yds/gm, over a 3:1 TD/INT ratio, and a career passer rating of 102. Oh and he's still only 29 years old. He's an all-time top-10 QB, guys, I know it's the offseason so we have to pass the time somehow but this one is bordering on the ridiculous.

@BigEFly 's point of the rules making it easier to be a QB makes comparing Mahomes' stats to past QB stats really hard. Along the same lines, the current trend of QB bias for MVP makes even using that as a measuring stick a much more difficult comparison.

I don't think its an open and shut case.

Baker comes to mind first. Maybe Geno or Kyler.

Hurts played well. But he wasn't as determinative as being SB MVP would suggest.

The MVP belonged to the DL... but since they can't give it to a group of players... NFL default is to give it to the QB.

I'm not sure Morey should have said anything differently on the radio. Doesn't mean he won't trade Embiid or George this summer.

Draft lottery in 4 days. Let's cross our fingers for something positive to finally happen.

I am not sure how NIL money and the portal are negative for academics. If they really wanted to address academics, they could significantly limit team activities.

NIL doesn't seem to be an issue for academics, but bouncing from school to school in the portal has to make holding a major nearly impossible. Schools have such different requirements... of course, most of the guys in the portal aren't really there for 'school'... like Cardale Jones.

Wow, looks like Jonathon Brooks is out for all of 2025

Justin Herbert loses us the Packers game with dumb INTs, but I'll go with healthy Kirk Cousins.

Kirk with all those night games...

AJ is Nick’s big WR. Calcaterra would be Nick’s slot WR.

AJ is a worse blocker than Devonta (who may be the best blocker pound for pound. Nick has plays that require a big blocking WR that catches the ball well enough to be a threat but runs routes well enough and with enough speed that he is a player that requires OCB coverage outside. We will just disagree on that.

Uh no, not in this case, unless you want to point to a non-QB candidate that even came close to being in the conversation for the two seasons that Mahomes won it. You can make the case that Jackson or Allen benefitted from it because CMC or Barkley were robbed but attributing any sort of pro-QB bias to those two seasons Mahomes won it is ridiculous, come on now.

This is how you make sure your fans don't give a you know what. This season isn't even over and I'm already checked out for next year.

And that's why I have no real fear of the Deadskins.

That's true, but my usage of 'out duel' includes winning. In the West, when you were in a duel, the only thing that mattered was not dying. In that game, Mahomes didn't have the big mistake that cost his team points, it was Hurts. In the more recent rematch, Mahomes had the big mistake(s) that cost his team points.

Like I said, it makes it more difficult, I didn't say impossible. It means you have to provide the context not just for why Mahomes won it, but why other QBs from the past didn't.

I actually just noticed that Mahomes broke his streak of 4k yards. 2024 would have been 7 years

When was the last time a QB carried his team and win the SB without much help during the playoffs? I can't recall one over the past 20 years.

  • (7) Brady had terrific defenses in all of his super bowls (except against the Falcons and he should have lost had Quinn/Shanahan not choked)

  • (3) Mahomes had Hill running like crazy and Shanahan shitting the bed in the first; Andy Reid designing plays against Gannon; and a great defense in the third

  • (2) Peyton had an amazing defense in Denver and the run game was good in his SB with Indy (could never win it when he was the whole offense)

  • (2) Eli, well, we all know he wasn't the main factor

  • (2) Big Ben had the Steelers' defense, including that crazy play by Harrison

  • Hurts had a very complete team overall

  • Foles was trash vs ATL, he was helped by Alshon, Ertz, Blount, etc.

  • Stafford had Kupp, who should have been the MVP that season

  • Wilson had the Legion of Boom

  • Flacco had the Ravens' dominant defense

  • Brees didn't have great names around him but still had a good defense, Sean Payton, the onside kick after half time and a pick 6

  • Rodgers had Driver, Jennings and Nelson (you might argue he was the only one on this list winning it by himself)

Football is the ultimate team sport and it's been proven that no QB can win it all with great players and coaches around him. Even if you're freaking amazing and a top 10 all-time like Marino, Manning, Rodgers or Brees.

The Eagles D was why I was absolutely convinced we would smash the living f... daylights out of the chiefs. Feelings that many here shared as well.

So... he broke his streak, by not breaking 4000 yards? The English language is so weird!

Lol sorry. Yes he broke his streak lol

Not sure who has the biggest streak. I think I saw Peyton has 8 years at one point

They lost LIV, so he didn't. He was very good, but he wasn't good enough that day. It was a 1 possession game and he had the only turnover... unforced. You could say he fumbled away that opportunity.

And I wouldn't call 22 passing attempts against 45 rushing attempts gunslinging in LIX.

His performance was more than 'good enough'. It was one of the best ever. That's just a bad take.
